Logitech G603 Review (New Hero Optical Sensor)

  • In game tests for the new optical Hero sensor. This has the same shape as the G403 so the review is mostly about sensor. It's meant to give the performance of a 3366 (top optical) but it does it much more efficiently, so power consumption is low. That means this sensor is made for wireless mice, because now you won't have to charge it so often (or get new batteries, in this case).
    Very impressive tech and a great mouse if it suits your needs. Personally I'm sticking with the G403 wireless or G703, but no doubt there is a market for wireless mice that can last for hundreds of hours, especially laptop users that want to travel a lot.
    You could also check out the PowerPlay with the G703, which will charge it through the pad and won't need to be plugged in, check that review here: • Logitech PowerPlay Wir...

    I prefer the removable batteries to rechargeable inbuilt ones or powerplay. The removable batteries make the mouse last longer.

    If you’re using the included battery that Logitech provides (which you shouldn’t , get a light AAA with paper clip or tinfoil) I recommend putting the battery at the right side because the left is where the switches the side buttons are located which makes the mouse feel really unbalanced when putting the battery in. If you put the battery on the right the weight will be more distributed and balance.

    I know it's a bit too late now, but if you get an AA Lithium battery from Energizer, it helps to reduce the weight hugely (about 1/3 of an Alkaline battery I believe) and keeps the mouse under 100g with 1 AA battery.

    I'm really glad Logitech is pushing the wireless technology as far as they can, to the point of bringing wired performance. The fact that it has batteries really bothers me though. It's extremely impressive to squeeze so many hours of use like this but let's be honest here, batteries are just the worst. They're heavy, expensive and just plain outdated.
    To me personally, the G900 (or G903) is the best wireless mouse so far. It's an engineering beauty that performs just as good.
    Keep up the good work, Zy. You're quite frankly the only mouse reviewer out there that I trust.

    Got this a while back and I love it! No more recharging, one less wire to worry about, just keep some batteries around, just in case. Also they say it is 500Hours of constant gaming, I figure at least 3 months on Hi mode, but Then again I game on the Lo mode. :D I can tell the difference, but it doesn't affect me.
    I recommend this to anyone who wants to go wireless, zero wires and no recharging.

      @WildStyle 6 лет назад

      Yeah, they are good. I trust Duracell most out of all batteries. I have been running mostly Lo, but switching once in a while. And when it makes no difference aside from visual smoothness, I just go back to Lo. :D Sorta bad day of gaming switch to Hi hoping to play better, nope and whatever. Maybe if every single pixel mattered, but even on Lo you don't skip pixels, your mouse moves over to where it is supposed to, it just doesn't register that fast on screen when you turn fast.

    • @din3832
      @din3832 6 лет назад

      WildStyle i think for me it will make even less difference since my monitor is a 60hz 5ms response, if a try low it will be on 8ms so even if my mouse is going 1ms my monitor cant keep up, i will only gain 3ms in real world.

    yeh im def getting this, ive been hot swappin AA rechargables since ive had my 700s for the last couple years,IMO its LEAPS and bounds ahead of "rechargable" enclosed....battery where youre then forced to frag with a stiff charging cable or use a secondary option, as it charges....IM all about the rechargables and just poppen them in. Sure the design may be abit more janky than the quick swap the g700s enabled. but better than the g700s( continuity issues as time passed the pick up slam causes bottom battery enclosure to wind up disconecting the battery etc). Ill have to go to best-buy and do the last feel/grip test and see how the buttons actuate to really know if its the one. But at 50$ on sale, talking i could get a 403 for 35$ and a 603 for 50$ and it would still cost less than the 87$ on sale g703.......dont even get me started on the g pro wireless. Ive even seen the g pro wired going for 30$. To a gamer like me id rather have the 2 mice than the 1 703. But ive messed around with mice in my day traded friends for theirs etc.

      well i'm hella late on this but i'd go based on your hand size and weight preference, overall the g305 is a lot smaller and it can go as low as 82 grams with aaa lithium batteries, the g603 is a lot bigger and quite heavy but with an arguably better shape. However i had 2 seperate g603's and both broke down on me, because of the top shell being one piece of plastic i think i bent it just by normal use and it didn't sit snuggly at the back after a couple of months

      Swapping the battery for a lighter one is pretty simple, you can also remove the tentioning system for the top cover (three screws and its gone) the main mouse buttons also have plastic around them that you can unscrew. Some of the magnets holding the top coved are also not needed. All these changes are reversible and dont really change how the mouse feels, although you should be careful not to break anything

    Zy, Is ir possible that you do a comparison between the G403 wired and wireless?
    I have already bought a G403 wired and am super happy with the design and performance. I want to have a wireless mouse that has similar performance to the G403 wired.

    Kind of more like a 3310 instead of a 3366. The tilt slam is the only thing that used to make the 3310 spin out, same applies to the hero.

    • @devilsoffspring5519

      Probably not, the G502 is an expensive mouse with lots of features. It costs more than twice as much as the 603.

    the g403 started having scroll wheel problems and now recently the left click randomly double clicks, its a shame since the mouse is really good. i'll buy this wireless one and send the 403 to the repair in the meantime. hope it doesnt have the same issues as the 403

    Would you recommend this, or G403 or G703? I'm considering getting a wireless gaming mouse, but I'm stuck between Razer & Logitech. I read some reviews about Razer Mamba wireless wasn't good due to the laser sensor, Lancehead is abit too expensive for me , so I'm stuck between this 2 big brands. Must I go wireless? Yes, I wanna go wireless. I want a long lasting value mouse, so do help me out fellows D:

    you can get it to 100 grams with an AAA battery and an adapter for it, which is around 5 grams lighter than the g703, do there's no point in buying the g703 if you don't mind the battery hassle

    • @ROADRAGE21
      @ROADRAGE21 5 лет назад

      without the battery it's 89 grams, so if you find a battery under 10 grams it's going to be under 100 grams.

    why hasnt Logitech come up with a wireless version of their popular claw mice? G Pro, G303, etc?
    not too concerned about the extra weight.. its the shape that counts
    for some reason it seems like they have no issue making a wireless version of every other mice they have.

    Does this one work with Bluetooth? I have a laptop and I like a mouse that can connect to the laptop's Bluetooth connection. This way I don't need any dongles hanging out of the side of my laptop that are ugly. They are not just ugly but it is easy to bump them. Next thing you know you have an unreliable socket because of it being loose or broken. I do everything I can to avoid that but it can still happen. The best way to avoid it is to not have to plug things into them so much. What few times anything does plug into my sockets, I am careful not to have anything pulling up or down or to the sides, I just plug it in and try to avoid it. I do not like loose sockets at all if I could have avoided them. I don't need power play or to recharge the mouse, most of the ones I had are not bad with battery life and I even had those awful dollar store batteries!! You will know when you see them, they are those ones that are so light they feel cheap. That is it feels like there is not much "stuff" in them by comparison to a more expensive one. You get what you pay for they say!

      Dammit. I'm trying to decide between two mice. The g305 and the g603. I'm gonna use aaa to aa adapter so weight isnt a concern for me. I don't have issues will tilt slam, so both sensors are perfectly fine for me. I know that the g603 has better ergonomics in general, compared to the g305 with bulging sides. So my decision will depend on build quality and shape.
      When I'm playing fps games like csgo and quake champions, I tend to have a hybrid grip of palm and claw. Judging by your review, the g305 is better suited for my hands. However,when I use my computer for non fps games or just simply browsing and video editing, I use more of a palm grip. The g603 is the perfect shape for palm grip from your reviews.
      So i'm trying to factor every positive and negatives of each mouse to try and make my decision. But thanks Zy. Your reviews are honestly the best, since you cover all of the information needed for a mouse review. Honestly the best reviewer for RUclips. Thanks alot.

    wired doesnt affect my gameplay at all due to my set up of sticking wires down a curved table edge. others use bungies. i dont see why i would buy wireless mice that need recharging and weigh more. even if it charges thru mousepad, that means i have more things to plug in and more things using up electricity
