Lyrics:
Go ahead with your dreaming
For what it's worth
Or you'll be stricken bound
Kicking up dirt
For when it's dark
You never know what the night it may bring
Go ahead with your scheming
And shop at home
You'll find treasure
While cooking up bones
But the knife is sharp
You'd better watch that you don't cut your hands
And they covered up the sun
Until the birds had flown away
And the fishes in the sea
Had gone to sleep
Go ahead with your dreaming
For what it's worth
Or you'll be stricken bound
Kicking up dirt
For when it's dark
You never know what the night it may bring
Go ahead with your scheming
And shop at home
You'll find treasure
While cooking up bones
But the knife is sharp
You'd better watch that you don't cut your hands
And they covered up the sun
Until the birds had flown away
And the fishes in the sea
Had gone to sleep
Holy Moses our hearts are screaming
Souls are lifting only dreaming
We'll be waiting some are praying
For a time when no one's cheating
The sunlight rising over the horizon
Just a distant memory the dawn chorus
Birds singing bells ringing
In our hearts in our minds
And they covered up the sun
Until the birds had flown away
And the fishes in the sea
Had gone to sleep

When you decide to browse Erasure hits and it takes four hours. Such an inspiring band, pop gold !
Did the same with ABBA yesterday. Where did that time go? 🤣
didn't last long though, did they?
Never took me that long because Chrous is the very first Erasure song i heard when my brother had the album on CD and used to play it to death on his portable Stereo. It was the sounds that i was fascinated by.
Gold....
Yes!
The opening with Andy and Vince rising out of the water with all that synth equipment. 😍
❤and they covered up the sun until the birds had flown away, and the fishes in the sea have gone to sleep,,blue Savannah,we win in the end
If you are here with memories of a care free youth then your smiling right now 😊
Erasure the best of my life i have known
Vince Clarke is a genius.
So true 👍 👌.
True!
so is Andy.
@@desire_direct both of them, indeed.
Can u imagine Vince togeher with Martin Gore in DM? I guess things happen for a reason....
Perfect song for the solar eclipse, today. Love from OHIO
Andy before he got all the tattoos
Crying over my lost youth.
Still listening in 2024!!!!!!!!!
Just superb isn't it? After all these years. 👍
And the environmental message continues to get more valid every year. (Unfortunately.) When this came out i was in uni. Now i’m over 50. But it still sounds fresh and relevant. And, beautiful of course.
Definitely. Sounds brand new. ❤
Every year 🤘
I will be here at least one time per year
Sometimes it just seems random bad luck that a song doesn’t become a great hit.
Wow! This was 30 years ago!
Timeless... Now... The Future...
My kids love Erasure they are 14 and 5
This song is number one in always years 90'
2000' 2010' 2020'...
God I wish I could go back to this time of joy and sanity.
You are not on your own believe me
Hell yeah !
Yes!!!
I am a time traveler from the year 2021 and I can ensure you that humans still celebrate this song!
Decades later and im still like, what does it all mean... No matter, to me anyway. When i sense a sound that makes me stop everything, i have to absorb as much of it as i can. If it catches my attention, I'm a fan for life. Music transcends boundaries, moods, and is food for the soul.
In a down mood just listening to erasure lifted me up proper music🎉
The best duo ever! Not afraid to be different and in every video they bring us such a treat. The hair raising amazing voice that is Andy Bell and genius Vince Clarke. This is such a masterpiece like others say on here. Turn it up loud 🎶🎶
Sympthtastic lol 💕
Fantastic song.
Never get tired of lishening
Just never enough ❤
I miss this era of music (and my life), so much it hurts 😢
The music's still here....
Andy was my high school crush. Here we are 30 years later.. the music is still meaningful, and he's still as beautiful.
are you man or woman? because he is gay
@@awaken77 None of your damn business.
Lol.😅
One of the most incredible songs of the group
Do you think people remember creep show enough to remember why we keep our head above water? Stay faithful people!!!
Vince and Andy couple of legends
One of my fav . memories is dancing away with my Bro to this song...RIP Kevvy💖
A perfect match, Vince has some history. Depeche mode, Yazoo and Erasure. A true trailblazer in his time
I was obsessed upon discovering this song a few years ago. Now I'm obsessed with it again
Makes dark days light again with this music
It's amazing how much tech was needed to make this music, compared to the present.
I used to think he was saying and the dishes in the sink have gone to sleep.Youthful wisdom ay 🤣🤣🤣good tune love this one
This song defines Erasure for me
Masterpiece of modern music
Certainly is.
Best synth pop band of them all.
top band of the 80's / 90's
This song takes me back to some of my "wilder" days. I love this tune!!!
Боже мой,моя юность!Как время летит.Здоровья вам,ребята и спасибо за путешествие во времени.
I watched parts of this video being filmed at Burling Gap on the south coast of England... It was a chance discovery by me, but such an incredibly memorable day as I got to talk to Vince & many of the crew... great memories!
This song makes me too Happy! I can't hold back the Joy it overflows!
I was listen too Erasure back in the 80s , but i had forgot that until i find them on RUclips, then i remember.Bring back good memories , and Andy Bell got a great voice.
Poland Love Erasure So Much :-),Vincent Clarke Is A Genius Of Synthpop !!
Me 😊 listen in 2024
Happy day. Keep erasing hate and replace with joy.
angel voice with human music, powerful combination
Been listening since the 80's. Erasure was way ahead of its time, way under appreciated but always remind me of my favorite times before aids, before internet crime, before MTV quit playing music, before the san fransisco earthquake, before enron, before the avian flu before 9-11, before the oct 1st Massacre in Las Vegas, before Corona virus and because of that Erasure will always have a special place in my heart and remind me of better times❤💜.
Very well said! I agree.
The best Erasure Song in my opinion
I am agree with your opinion
My favorite for sure after i first heard it i couldn't stop playing it ❤
Ship of Fools? Phantom Bride? Little Respect? Stop?
Run to the Sun?
It's probably not their best song but it's my favorite. It's equal to Good Vibrations in my book
I love very much erasure, between his songs:
Chorus
A little respect
Chains of love etc.
I am so in love with you 🎶
I’ll be forever yours 🎵
Heavenly Action?
Phantom Bride?
Drama?
Victim of Love?
Stop?
Blue Savannah?
Breath Of Life?
Sometimes?
Ship Of Fools?
Star?
Always?
Chorus is the ten best punk-rock music of universe !
This is, in my humble opinion, the best track off of the best Erasure album.
It really IS a delight. It has a lot of individually great pieces going on at once, i think. Really cool.
Too many to choose from. So many great tunes :)
would you, if you have time/inclination be able to recommend any lesser known awesome Erasure tracks ? I'm a fan, but, to my discredit, only know the hits really.... :(
listened to "wild" album? I was hooked on that at 7 or 8 years old loved them ever since
Breathe is really good but I find all their stuff fantastic.
Memories, a Dawn chorus..... Just beautiful lyrics. From a wonderful time in my past. This was always a fave of mine. 🤩
Great 90's come back ..
i'M thinking of giving a listen to more ERASURE songs that i'm not familiar vvith as i tackle the Nevv York Times-style crossvvord puzzles. Definitely an underrated group that deserves a larger audience.
And Bell hitmaker!! Excelent voice and performance!!
my dad used to play this to me when I was about 4. Listening to it now I can see that it's played a massive part in shaping my musical taste as an adult. It's put together really well.
Congrats for the Good taste' s músic for your dad 👏👏👏👏👏
yeah same now i can’t stop listening to riddim 😰
This song is pure nostalgia! My best friend and I loved Erasure in the 80’s. We still dance to it in the kitchen, now!
Erasure at their peak
I just recently discovered this song and I'm obsessed with it. Gawd the chorus part is beautiful.

This is an amazing song! Important for the next generations to listen to this song..going forward as a human race.
what a f_____g tune still love erasure so much Vince Clark a huge talent
His voice always gets me.
Wow I love it when the RUclips algorithm suggests a song, I click on it and I remember hearing it and loving it in the past! Which then reminds me of pleasant memories when life was good
Back in the 80's I loved Erasure. I missed a lot of songs from the 90's, too busy travelling. But I have just heard this for the 1st time ! What a True, Amazing, Sad song. 💙💛💚 Erasure Forever 💙💛💚 xxx
Vince was one of the reasons why i started Synth programming (Yazoo) Days.
Chorus was something Freaky..that Siren Intro has taken EDM to the Future.....
This song reminds me of better times in my life!!!. Erasure's songs lift me up when i'm feeling down!!!.
Tb me sinto melhor qdo ouço erasure
Stay positive brother and look forward to the future. Your best times might come next.
More than 2.5 millions!!!!
The same here from Brazil!!!
They still rock 😍💕😍😘😍
This came at a time in my life when I was really struggling. It helped so much. I'm glad it was there for me. It really made a difference.
This reminds me of the fall of my Freshman year of highschool! (1991)... I hadn't heard this song in DECADES, until, maybe a year or two ago, I was watching (or rather *listening)* to one of my favorite RUclips channels on the way to work, and the content creator just happened to play this song at the end of one of his videos, and I had to pull over and get the name of the song in who it was by, because I forgot, but they used to play this track on "B96" (96.3 in Chicago), and I always thought the name of the song was "Fishes in the Sea" simply because people would always call "Eddie & Joe Bo" and request the "Fishes in the Sea" song, so that is what it was known as by those of us not familiar with Erasure. But, boy does this bring back memories!
Funny thing is, that I mostly listened to metal, and some hip-hop and Country Western! Not to mention classical piano and such, as my mother and one of my sisters are extremely talented piano players (as I once was... I can read music, but learned how to "play by ear" which drove my sister crazy, despite the fact she can play way better than me, but she read music, and could not play by ear, likei myself). Growing up in Chicago I had many different friends with many different musical tastes so I listened to every type of music one could imagine; old-school house, classic rock, rap/hip hop, R&B, Classic Country, Metal...hell even some of the old polka music my Polish uncles listened to! My Mom Even played accordion, in the late 50's - early 60's... and she actually gave me her old accordion (still in MINT CONDITION!), So in addition to guitar, bass guitar, saxophone, piano, and self-taught accordion, (and those cheap plastic recortar/"flute"- type things we played in grade school music class), I have a diverse range of musical instruments to play ...though my parents had to sell my saxophone a long time ago for financial reasons, and I don't own an *actual* piano, I sort-of "inherited" my sister's (very expensive) electric piano/synthesizer of many instruments, when she moved out West, and although I have "clumsy fingers" from not playing in 20+ years, I'm amazed at what I *can play,* off the top of my head (though I need some major practice)!
Anyway, I love and appreciate GOOD MUSIC, regardless of genre... The genre I choose to listen to, at any given time, it just depends on my mood!
What a record. Pop perfection. Wish I had words to describe what I feel about this song ....
Never liked erasure that much when I was growing up, only now can I appreciate how good they were and still are, some of their tracks are incredible ❤️
When this first played on the radio especially when the intro started I couldnt believe what I was hearing. There was nothing like it at the time. A fan since.
Exactly the same. Soon as I heard it I was in love with it.
It was groundbreaking. So unique.
The very computeresque, spacy sounds most prominent in the beginning is one of the two elements that puts this above many others songs. The other one is Andy Bell's more harmonic singing towards the end, the one involving the line "a dawn chorus".
Brilliant we’re Erasure
CHORUS!!! Coro... lo máximo en sonido electrónico....
Man I remember so well when this first came out, gawd I’m,getting old !!! Loll !!
Playing the latest live offering last night...can't help but dance along to this track...damn classic song this!.
Erasure has one of the most Christian message at its source.
Erasure is such a great group.
vahi37 es muy lindo
Used to be
DUO.
I always think of this song and sing it to myself now that we are reacquainted whenever I go out into my garden in the early hours when the sun is coming up. The dawn chorus is all the birds singing in the forest around my yard.
My favourite erasure song. ❤ This beautiful masterpiece.
What a fantastic song.
I'll never get over how spectacular this song and video is. Life-changing, every time.
Ah this,, just fking gorgeous...still, beautiful, I was heavily pregnant with my first child, didn't stop me dancing💚
June '91 our school day trip to a skating arena to end the summer term. I remember this blasting out of the speakers in the rink! (Whilst repeatedly falling on my arse!!🤣🤣🤣🤣) I would love to be 15 again! This is just an awesome song from an awesome time to be young and the music was immense!! I miss the 90's!!!❤❤❤❤
this tune was number 1,, maybe when i was about 12 or so. i heard it on the radio in donegal town , ireland , and i swore i would have it , only took 30 odd years.
The mood change at 2:52 is one of the most striking musical moments that I’ve ever heard.
You need to listen to more music dude.
Fantastic tune...🕺🏻💃🏻
One of the best from this great under rated band...some greats that never have been truly acknowledged.
this is a real music. I love Erasure duet and of course to the handsome Andy!!
you have to turn this one up to listen. what an awesome song!!! Vince Clarke has been in all my fave bands...Depeche Mode, Yazoo, and Erasure. What a talented guy.
And The Assembly!
@@rw8733 Was just about to say that, but you beat me by 5 months lol

@@mikekaraoke England 🇬🇧
Erause forever !
I always thought of this as the coolest Erasure song. So hard to beat it.
This song always got everybody moving at the club. We ALL loved it. Most of their songs were very popular at clubs back then. Great band. Great music.
My all-time favorite Erasure song!
1.8 million views! This song never gets old! Love it now as much as i did when it came out in 1991.
This is a monster! Way ahead of its time! I’m sure there were plenty of electronic music genres that took inspiration from Vince Clarke!
They were some band. This is a belter.
It was out in around 1991. I had just come out of the closet in college in Las Cruces, New Mexico. This song really WAS ahead of it's time because it got minimal play on American radio stations. They played it for maybe three weeks and then it dissappeared, along with the band. I think the public did could not identify it as pop, or techno, or snappy dance music. Rave music was just barely coming into the underground. Or maybe Andy was just too gay. There was no place for Erasure, at least here in the United States arena. I almost feel that, besides The Innocents, ALL of Erasure's records are full-fledged cult albums.
“I’m sure there were plenty of electronic music genres that took inspiration from Vince Clarke!”
Most of them took inspiration from Vince 😉
The Chorus album is different from any other Erasure album. He went back to using Analog synths and CV Gate because the timing was tighter than MIDI. He programmed every song one note at a time. The results speak for themselves.
Not ahead of its time at all. Pop music was simply better back then.
This song brings back great memories.
One of the best hits. Drums are as live in their part. Vince is genious.
Thanx to Andy for the all vocals!🤘
I was consumed with this song when I first heard it. Loved it.
What a song... Hello from Serbia...
i LOVE them
Surely one of the greatest pop songs ever made
Remember playing this for the whole neighbourhood back in the day
Lol. Me too. Car windows wide open. Full volume. 😆
This was massive in the clubs from memory .. Andy Bell n Vince Clarke the Voice meets Synthpop Gandalf.. Brilliant act with some truely great songs.Nearly as good as ABBA.
One of my favourite bands
