Your analysis is so insightful. I didn't realize the choreography reflected much of the theme of the song (the pirate movement in the beginning) and how it's very theatrical.
Yup, this is the right music video. They usually film not so crazy looking videos for some of their bsides on the album but we, atinys, appreciate it very much. Because they are a group of 8, they have to experiment with formations a lot to keep it interesting as it could be simple as they have an even number, but they do change it up a lot and that’s one of the reasons they are my favourites in the industry
Actually for their debut and their two first comebacks they had two title tracks each time. My personal favourite part of the choreo is right before the beat drops again after the bridge, that move looks so much like Luffys Gear Second. Dunno if it was intentional but that kinda move in a song called "Pirate King" I really love😂😂
They appeared on an episode of "Try not to sing /dance challenge" it was hilarious! This song appeared & they said they were in the desert (I forget where)...I think for a bunch of videos...but they said "THEY WERE HOT!" Besides their "showmanship" (SWAG KINGS) like you mentioned I'm intrigued by their play with sounds (no joke! If I heard right, he re-recorded one song over 1000 times). His obsession with writing music resulted in a LOT of comebacks in a very short time & I think this went a long way in getting them a lot of attention.
I know we all love Jongho (I do, too), I also notice you love his higher register. To me, it sounds very strained and unhealthy, so I don't enjoy his higher range in worry he is unnecessarily straining his vocal cords by not opening-up (he also looks very tense while singing high notes which also worries me). I do, however, very much enjoy his low to mid-range vocals.
Looks like you don't know Jongho that much right? Even Jeff noticed how Jongho can hit notes easily but he tends to act dramatic while hitting them to give it more emotions. Check videos of him hitting high notes offstage and you will see how he hit every single note with a easy
tbh jongho doesn’t strain that much, as for someone who stans them since pre debut I could totally tell the difference when he’s singing from pre debut up to now. Before he’s also singing singing a lot of highnotes but his face isn’t really that dramatic unlike to his stages now. The only stage that he strained a lot is during mama with Goodbye baby lmao. A lot of vocal coaches always tells that jongho hits the high notes really well without straining as well
I think part of him not opening up might do with nervousness, expectations and insecurities, he said before he was insecure of his smile but he seems to be more relaxed now and hits his high notes with more ease now. Besides, him singing in a high register while breaking apples might have helped in him being able to do so easily ahahahah
Hey :) no need to worry. I've seen a reaction by a vocal teacher/coach...he reacted to ateez's vocals and yes on Jongho's vocals... She said jongho has a very good. If not perfect technique! So there really is no need to worry :) another video from someone else pointed out he has the biggest range out of all of them and can reach the high notes fairly easily!
From what I’ve seen on his live performances, the position of his head and mouth doesn’t indicate straining. He has a broadway technique (like Rock of Ages) 😁 His chin doesn’t go up, which means he’s using his instrument well. Hard to achieve 😁
Wooyoung freaking destroyed this Choreography!!! The best part is that the members each came up with the choreography for different parts and I'm pretty sure Wooyoung came up with the beginning part of the choreo.
I LOVE that you described the the musical theater aspect of their performance, I agree so much!! It really stands out in things like their ship formation in the second chorus :) They also performed this for the public as zombies, if you wanna check out that video for yourself 👍
Can you pleaseeeee react to KARD??? Hola Hola, Oh Na Na, Red Moon, Dumb Litty, Don’t Recall, Ride on the Wind, and Bomb Bomb from KARD are really good songs!! But if you had to react to only one song from KARD I would recommend Bomb Bomb from KARD!! 😁😁 More info. about KARD: -A group of that consists of 4 members -Consists of 2 boys and 2 girls -Debuted in 2016 -The male members are: •J.seph •BM The female members are: •Somin •Jiwoo -Fandom Name: Hidden KARD Meaning of KARD: K-King card that represents BM A- Ace card that represents J.seph R- Black Joker and Colored Rainbow Joker that represent Somin and Jiwoo D-is an undecided term that is open to various meanings, ranging from a song to an artist who features in a song. -Dumb Litty was produced by BM
04:33 Their concept of the group are actually Peter Pan & Pirates of the Caribbean (you can heard the lyrics of Wonderland, Hongjoong mentioned Peter pan in his rap and mingi with Jack Sparrow in his rap.) Their concept is like Pirates, and the storyline kinda thing is like Peter Pan (Mostly).
i think you really hit the nail on the head about why ateez is getting so much more popular so fast. i'm looking forward to being able to say i was there from the very beginning in a few years when they're as big as some other boy groups that shall not be named. also unrelated but id love to see your reaction to some of the performances on road to kingdom, particularly too's rising sun cover and golden child's t.o.p. cover (the second is very contemporary and theatrical and i think youd like it a lot)
On their first album they had “Treasure” as their titletrack with an MV. “Pirate King” is technically a sidetrack with a performance MV. The same with “Say My Name” and “Hala Hala” on their second album. On their third album we had to vote on which song, between “Illusion” and “Wave”, should be the title track. That’s why both of them have MVs and “Aurora” has a performance MV.
There is another debut song together with 'pirate king' called 'treasure'. After all their mvs, I highly recommend 'Win' and 'Horizon' music bank stage.
Even though it was their debut song, they got to choreograph some parts and write some of the lyrics for the song, I think that's really cool. Also, they went to Morocco to film this Performance MV, just as Treasure, their other title track on this album. That song has an actual MV, so make sure to check it out :)
I hope this helps: their debut album actually had 2 music videos, the "pirate king" which you said is a performance ver video and "Treasure" which is the more Music Video-like that you're trying to find or expect (?). This trend went on; 2nd album having 2 mvs again the "Say My Name" which is the MV and then "Hala-Hala" mv-performance ver. Till the 3rd album which had 2 Music Videos no performance ver, "Wave" and "Illusion", this is due to Ateez making the fans vote which should be the title track. However, for their most recent releases: they only had one MV for each album, "wonderland" and "answer" Other performance vids such as Aurora and Promise as well as japanese mv releases aren't included in what I've mentioned since I was trying to specify on the comeback releases
They where actually supposed to be a dance group I think. That's why they went to LA pre debut for training. You should really check out their pre debut dance videos😊😊
I think you would like the choreo to WIN. It's also got a touch of the theatrical. They turn themselves into a boat(they did in this too, but in WIN it's way more obvious) with the backup dancers being waves.

Dunno if it was intentional but that kinda move in a song called "Pirate King" I really love😂😂
i'VE NEVER CLICKED SO FAST!! YEASS FINALLY YOU REACTING TO ATEEZ'S PIRATE KINGG
im still thankful cause they filmed their debut in my country and i got to know them and stan
Omg, you’re right! Their performance is so theatrical 👍👍
They appeared on an episode of "Try not to sing /dance challenge" it was hilarious! This song appeared & they said they were in the desert (I forget where)...I think for a bunch of videos...but they said "THEY WERE HOT!"
Besides their "showmanship" (SWAG KINGS) like you mentioned I'm intrigued by their play with sounds (no joke! If I heard right, he re-recorded one song over 1000 times).
His obsession with writing music resulted in a LOT of comebacks in a very short time & I think this went a long way in getting them a lot of attention.
Oh and watch their facial expressions while they are dancing. They are kings of expressions when it comes to dancing
The thing that i would say when i see this clip is ‘FINALLY PIRATE KING’
Also Jeff I you're planning to react to more Ateez I would suggest some fun songs like Illusion and Wave
ateez has two debut songs, Pirate King and Treasure, there is an MV for treasure and the Pirate King performance ver is the official one
Wow!!! Always love watching your ATEEZ reaction especially explaining it in details...thank you so much!!!
I JUST REALIZED THE ICON IS JEFF?!!?!??!! his little hair and head onlllllllll
yess!!! ateezzzz we are so proud at how far they've come now!!! huhu
It actually says in the title “Official MV” right before the words “Performance Ver.” I feel like a lot of people miss that lol. But it is the MV
Wooyoung freaking destroyed this Choreography!!! The best part is that the members each came up with the choreography for different parts and I'm pretty sure Wooyoung came up with the beginning part of the choreo.
Ateez Themselves Made This Choreo Their Choreographers Just Helped Them In Polishing The Moves
for their debut they promoted title tracks, Treasure and Pirate King, Treasure is the one that has the official mv
I LOVE that you described the the musical theater aspect of their performance, I agree so much!! It really stands out in things like their ship formation in the second chorus :) They also performed this for the public as zombies, if you wanna check out that video for yourself 👍
oh my god, this is such a throwback.. they were so small back then, so cute, and fluffy.. :::(((
Can you pleaseeeee react to KARD??? Hola Hola, Oh Na Na, Red Moon, Dumb Litty, Don’t Recall, Ride on the Wind, and Bomb Bomb from KARD are really good songs!! But if you had to react to only one song from KARD I would recommend Bomb Bomb from KARD!! 😁😁

pirate king!!! yes thank u!! the choreo is so addicting to watch, i hope u enjoy!
04:33 Their concept of the group are actually Peter Pan & Pirates of the Caribbean (you can heard the lyrics of Wonderland, Hongjoong mentioned Peter pan in his rap and mingi with Jack Sparrow in his rap.)
Their concept is like Pirates, and the storyline kinda thing is like Peter Pan (Mostly).
i think you really hit the nail on the head about why ateez is getting so much more popular so fast. i'm looking forward to being able to say i was there from the very beginning in a few years when they're as big as some other boy groups that shall not be named.
also unrelated but id love to see your reaction to some of the performances on road to kingdom, particularly too's rising sun cover and golden child's t.o.p. cover (the second is very contemporary and theatrical and i think youd like it a lot)
I love u so much thank reaction Ateez😭🙏🏻
There is another debut song together with 'pirate king' called 'treasure'. After all their mvs, I highly recommend 'Win' and 'Horizon' music bank stage.
Listen to wave it’s like a totally different concept, it’s so cute and fun!! It’s amazingggg!
Even though it was their debut song, they got to choreograph some parts and write some of the lyrics for the song, I think that's really cool. Also, they went to Morocco to film this Performance MV, just as Treasure, their other title track on this album. That song has an actual MV, so make sure to check it out :)
“Mr. vocal king” YES
WOW JEFFREY KNEW ALL THE MEMBERS' NAME ZHSHHSSHSH IM PROUD!!
"It's like peter pan"
Hongjoong who was litterally gonna be named pan for his stage name: 👁👄👁
Ateez is totally awesome. Ty for the reaction.
Ah yes, Ateez performances are always powerful and "chaos" in a way but they are still synchronized
I hope this helps:
their debut album actually had 2 music videos, the "pirate king" which you said is a performance ver video and "Treasure" which is the more Music Video-like that you're trying to find or expect (?). However, for their most recent releases: they only had one MV for each album, "wonderland" and "answer"
Other performance vids such as Aurora and Promise as well as japanese mv releases aren't included in what I've mentioned since I was trying to specify on the comeback releases
They where actually supposed to be a dance group I think. That's why they went to LA pre debut for training. You should really check out their pre debut dance videos😊😊
I really like your reactions! You represent us every time we see a video
i love how he uploads so much content and its all gOOD content
I think you would like the choreo to WIN. It's also got a touch of the theatrical. They turn themselves into a boat(they did in this too, but in WIN it's way more obvious) with the backup dancers being waves.
I love every jeff reaction video of ateez❤❤❤❤I even set are bell to make sure I'm not miss his reaction of ateez. Thank you jeff keep it are good work next will be Win Ateez cant wait to see your reaction. Just TMI ateez now being Korea ambassador for promoting Korean culture internationally I'm proud atiny ❤❤❤
seonghwa choreographed 80% of it, seonghwa best choreographer. his choreography skills needs more recognition, kq please let him choreograph a whole song
YAAAAAAAAAS!!!! I love when you react to stray kids, ateez or seventeen OMG! Thank you so much for always react to them
This debut for sure SHOOK everyone! Would like to see your thoughts on their WIN performance ☺️ they really went hard on that. I love your reactions as always!
