Friday, August 27, 2021, following the Oakland A's - New York Yankees game.

John Williams's contribution to cinema is one of a kind.
The kid screaming "BABY YODA" at 4:13...little do they know about the power of ACTUAL Yoda. What a display this is. And John Williams' music in the background is the chef's kiss. Music is quite the powerful thing. Music touches us emotionally where words alone can't. Music is the great uniter. An incredible force. Something that people who differ on everything and anything else can have in common
I shoot fireworks professionally and have a feeling I'm looking at the beginning of the end of my profession. Veryy cool.
I was thinking the same thing and not in the business, these things can be used over and over.

@@ChadwickTheChad a typical or average fireworks show can cost around $1000 a minute if you got a 10 minute show that's around $10,000 and not to mention they are dangerous and take a long time to set up. Drones can be cheaper or more expensive but they are way safer, can be set up quickly and can be reused

I love stuff like this because I feel like art always falls into the same mediums over and over, but when you see something original like this it is magical.

This drone light show is unironically the best thing to happen at the Oakland Coliseum. The crowd's reactions say it all. The transition of the baseball becoming the Death Star and then exploding when the baseball hits it is perfection. The force may not be strong with the Athletics, but it'll always be strong with the drones.
Absolutely mind blowing especially at the beginning the way the Star wars logo just floated and descended into air on a natural high

This is great! But I bet in 5 years time we will look back at this show and say how primitive it looked. I can see them really lighting up the sky w a faster pace and more dynamic.

Maybe more for the nights that fireworks can’t be done. It was amazing seeing it live and I enjoyed the show so much. I know Disney will do it on a larger scale since their budget for fireworks is crazy
They did have a temporary show in Orlando for Christmas a few years ago

It requires a lot of programming, initially aka the skeleton of the code a space is mapped out for the drones like 50m by 50m, as well as, the starting location of the drones, then the rest is for the artist to take over and can create unlimited images with regards to the drones speed, hardware, etc. Maintaining the actual drones so they fly properly is probably harder.

@@thetruth1140 Exactly, I think there should be already a software available that interfaces the user's input (the artists designing the transitions) and the actual programming of the droids. All in all, looks amazing and is a technology wonder !

I can't believe the guy said "That's a pretty big basketball"......at a baseball game. It was clearly a baseball. And the kid that says "Baby Yoda". No......that was bad-ass Yoda.
I enjoyed this way more than the last movie and unlike the last movie, I watched this from start to finish. Amazing stuff and brilliantly filmed - no zooms, no messing, just magic.
The crowd reactions are awesome. Makes you think of how people first reacted to fireworks shows when they first started.
Outstanding and professionally filmed horizontally, the way it should be.

I was there( proof on my IG) . It looked so incredible, almost like magic. This is only a glimpse of what's to come. Imagine when they have LEDs the size of a quarter flying around, we in the future.

It is and has been for quite awhile.
They are autonomous and can swarm.
ever heard of UAVs? those are drones pretty much and the concept has been around since the 1850s with it as simple as a Bomb attached to a Balloon (literally) to the British in World war 1 Toying with the idea of Radio controlled aircraft and one idea was used by the US navy for the Development of Arial Torpedos as they were called (Which actually set the foundation for the what is known as a Cruise Missile) and in World war 2 there was actual drone usage on a small scale with B-17 and B-24 bombers being used and even actual Drone Aircraft (look up the TDN - 1 and TG-2 control aircraft). So it's been weaponized for a very long time.

Yes, those tiny pilots are very good at what they do.

There is a Camera on the drone that connects to a headset you strap on like a VR headset that allows you to see from the drones point of view and control it. but you can also Program it to fly in certain patterns as well from a simple switch on a remote. pretty amazing stuff wish the regulations on flying them are not so stringent were you cannot even fly them without a permit unless you go to the sticks.
