Mine was a 1990 with 15 psi's if boost, "Adam Turbo" chip for re-mapped fuel curve to allow that boost and not lean out, custom side exit 3in cat-back attached to a gutted (stright-pipe) converter. K&N air filter, etc. I miss it so kuch that I dream about her sometimes, lol 💔
My dad own one. 1988 mazda mx6 LX. It aint turbo. Just 4 cylinders. But this car is very rare. Getting pieces for it is very difficult. We own two of them and to this day they still work.
Isn't that the truth! Started to restore our, '87 Mazda 626GT Turbo manual that we are the only owners to. Sadly, has sat idle under a car cover for 20 years. Is too sentimental to part with. Doesn't run, doesn't move and has a lot of cosmetic work to be done once she is running. Have a smashed rear passenger window that auto glass repairers won't touch because she is vintage and Mazda Corporate no longer stocks those windows. Can bring you to tears with frustration. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
@@thepansthisthatandtheother7766 yup that sounds the same exact situation as mine. Getting parts is nearly impossible. And when we go to junk yards for parts it's just the shell. At this point the only thing we can do is hire professionals that measure and calculate the windows. The interior is pretty bad but mainly because they used it as a work car. I would suggest mainly getting the engine and transmission working at least. I feel bad because those cars were the best.
@@OVERLORDCLOWN Thank you so much for getting back to us. Today we got new tyres for her. Nothing fancy but to be able to roll her. Front tyres were totally rotted. The brakes & wheels are totally frozen, and, on that note, I shall let hubby the engineer fill you in with the plan. From Hubby: The plan currently is to free the brakes while she's on the jacks, then ensure the brakes are functional for at least pushing the vehicle on our property - I don't want her rolling downhill uncontrolled! ALL engine fluids need replacing before I even think of turning her over. I plan to drop the gas tank and flush out both supply and return lines, as well as pulling the injectors and cleaning them. The list goes on...
@@thepansthisthatandtheother7766 sorry for responding late. Anyways that's impressive of your part. If the car has a transmission and an engine then you're already winning. Once you get the car running and rolling the rest will be easier to work with. In my case my Mazda mx6 has a working engine and transmission. Both working beautifully. I'm at the moment trying to find important components that the car needs. Such as hood mounts, sum visors etc. the fuel pump was recently replaced because the car was only able to turn on because of the starter fluid. I also want to fix the sunroof because water leaks in and it's been locked up over years now. And the windows in the doors are electrical which I want to make manual. The electrical components no longer work and replacing them is very hard. And getting the air conditioning is near impossible. We fixed it once and then two days later it broke and didn't work after that.
@@OVERLORDCLOWN No worries for responding late. Saw your message last night but was tired after working on the car all afternoon. Update: #1 am awaiting a call about the glass to replace the back passenger window. We might have found a donor car out of State that is 2 years older than Silver (that's her name) but looks identical. Reason for this is she is sadly an outdoor car. We don't have a garage to house her through the winter. Car covers don't work and get shredded after time. We have got a heavy-duty tarp for her now as well. Can't afford any more damage inside. Hubby is working on draining the fluids which needs to get done sooner than later. Here, the auto stores will only take oil, not radiator, clutch or brake fluids. They have to go to a recycling centre and in our County, they only do this twice a year from 8 in the morning until 1 in the afternoon. The date for us is October 26th. So, we are a little at stale mate though we have pulled out the back bench seat and front passenger front seat and cleaned a lot. Again, looking forward to updates from you and others. WE WILL GET THIS CAR RUNNING AGAIN! That I am determined on. She will be a little different again to drive as she is front wheel, and I have got used to 4 but hey my family drove Rally cars and my late Mother taught me on front wheel. I'll be perhaps a little rusty like Silver is. We might have sorted out the battery. Another story for next time. Cheers and again thanks for messaging back.
I still own my 88 gt turbo with stick. Nice to see some survivors.
I had one like that 30 years ago❤

I got one just like that mine is an 89 Mazda MX6 4 cylinder 5 speed KLX I love my car
Exelent car it deserves the 5 speed manual conversión once the automatic transmission goes bad.
