10/27/2005 Ween Live in DC. A Tear For Eddie. Downloaded from liveween.com. This is in NO WAY our video. We did not shoot it, we weren't even in attendance at the concert.
I found myself clinching up my ass during this song as if I was getting ready to do a big drop off a roller coaster...when I realized I was doing it...I knew the song had got into me.
@noops76 What other progressive rock bands do you know? Because it really doesn't sound much like Pink Floyd. "Green" has a melody too graceful for Pink Floyd. It sounds more like Peter Gabriel singing for Genesis. As for the arrangement, it reminds me of "Strawberry Fields Forever", starting out with rock instrumentation, and ending with classical (which Floyd almost never does). Also, the solo isn't bluesy like Floyd. Just because Floyd is all you know doesn't mean that's all they know.
Quit saying Floyd inspired music. Eddie Hazel wrote and performed Maggot Brain between 1967-1971 and also was performing in the mid 1960s. Around the same time as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Cream, etc.
The only Floyd song this reminds me of is Marooned, but The Division Bell came out the same year as Chocolate and Cheese so I hardly think one inspired the other.
Wow that's funny. The 1st cocert I ever experienced with Ween was in Ma. 10 yrs. ago in Sommerville Ma. and I was given shrooms by some guy at the front door for free (stupid move). I tripped balls and kept SCREAMING "A TEAR FOR EDDIE" repeatedely from my 3rd row seat's but they never played it. I saw them laugh at me though, which I, personally think is cool. Haha.... don't do shrooms!!!!
I was at this show with my bro OGL and we started yelling 'tear for eddie' repeatidly....and people started yelling it with us....yada yada yada....they listened!
Fuck Me, Dean Ween just thrashed fuck out that guitar - his famous Stratocaster. Claude Coleman is badass on drums, immense rhythm. WEEN WEEN WEEN

Funny you say that, because when Eddie Hazel first recorded "Maggot Brain", George Clinton told him to play like his mother had just died.
Wankers and people who want to be "the next Jimmy Page/Joe Perry/Slash" can bite it. Deaner is a true god.

"Deaner! Play like on of your favorite guitarists died!"
"Why?"
"Just do it man"
(Reenactment of the day Deaner first played this song)
