    Nice to see some loyalty to a brand even though they don’t sponsor you. Oase is my go to I find them quiet and easily maintained with their quick release Pre filter set up.

    I’ve been running an FX2 for about a month now, on a my 100litre bristlenose breeding tank.
    I did add some additional bio home media to fill up the basket, and I used the sponge from a “mobile matten filter” rather than the standard pre filter piece to avoid risk to fry.
    So far, very happy with it.

      Have you considered the spray bar for it? I would imagine for BNP it would help keep things clean.

      @@nabokovfan87 I have the spray bar in my high flow stream tank ( hillstreams, gobies, etc) with an FX4. It certainly gives a lot of water movement.

    Would be cool to see you try and 3d print your own filter.

      The plastic material of 3d printers aren't yet robust enough for long term use. It's ok for poc (proof of concept) and lightweight prototyping but not reliable enough for long term use.

    Use to love the fx models tell recently since I have been having issues with my fx6. I'm still running my Fx4, and when that one breaks. I'm moving on to a different brand

    I currently have the Fluval 207 sitting under my Venezia 190l corner tank. I wondered if I could upgrade to this? Are the pipes connectable etc?

      not at all. But if you bought the FX2, why would you use the hose from the 207??

    Hey I can really use your help I got a small leak through the glass seam on my 300 gallon can I just put more silicone on top of it or will that not work also anyway i can get in contact with you I have a short video I can send please help

    • @James_Hande

      Best to cut out the leaking section of silicone. Silicone does not stick to cured silicone very well.

  • @EBSELPROAUDIO
    @EBSELPROAUDIO Год назад

    The FX series of filters are flawed based on the clamps being easily broken and the valves being prone to leaking in long term use. Whilst they can be somewhat user maintained, I've found the process cumbersome and the resulting disassembled parts render the valve less reliable every time you clean and dismantle it. The only thing I like about them are the powerful Italian made pump.
    I extensively modified my FX6 using Quick Release Bicycle Clamp Bolt Clips instead of the clamps but found the plastic on the FX6 around the clamping area to be more brittle here where it needs sealing.
    Overall the design of this filter is poor but the pump is fantastic. Even for it's size, you cannot put as much media in there as you would think. My recommendation would be to purchase F Zone Stainless Steel filter and upgrade the motor if required, although the supplied pump is pretty good, it could be improved.

    Good review but filter seems over complicated for its purpose... sticking with Oase and Ehiem... less plastic bits to go wrong 👍

    I don’t like The FX models because I constantly have to clean them and cleaning them is a pain in the A$$. FX6 FX4, I have both. I don’t have FX2 and won’t get one it looks no different any of The FX models to me. Don’t get me wrong I believe they do a very good job of filtering Any tank so it’s not all bad. But for me it’s not worth the extra money.

      @koffee3816 Год назад

      @@vasili1207 because compared to those below it and without spending a crap ton, these are the best external range by far. talking of the older ones (new fluval stuff is hit and miss sadly) it had better plastic construction than owt below it, better pump quality, held massive amount of media, variable flow, solid seals and catches. really no negative to them.

    • @andreashessler838
      @andreashessler838 Год назад +1

      I'll be sticking with my "06" range. Have 3 currently running and they have never missed a beat.
      I do get why someone with a very large tank might go for an FX, but for most people, there really is no point at all.

    • @JustMyFish
      @JustMyFish Год назад

      @@koffee3816 but they are the most expensive candidates money can buy. I have spent that money on them and yes they work very well but in my experience they clogged fast and are awkward to clean. at the end of the day there are filters available that work just has well on the market and are easier to clean and a lot less experience.

    • @koffee3816

      @@JustMyFish many other filters at the same price with less useability and many more that are more expensive. at least the FX series sit in the middle and is actually good value compared to what else is about at the price ranges.
