I want to let everyone know watching this I just had this procedure done and I watched this video prior to it. I kept wondering what the experience was like and what the pain was before he surgery, but I couldn't find any info so I'm going to share my experience and pain. First of all the actual procedure was NO pain at all! Which was hard to believe after watching a drill going into your bone. The only pain I experienced was when they gave me the numbing shot (pinch) and whenever they were giving me the stitches (less than the pinch for the numbing shot). Pain afterwards was ok. It feels more achy then it is pain. I took ibuprofen with high doses and was completely fine and didn't need pain medicine. The procedure itself was really quick. Maybe like 30-45 minutes not including waiting for the numbing. It's not bad. Only reason I was nervous was because I watched this video prior and knew what was coming. It was a piece of cake. I go back in 4 months to have the tooth put on. (:

Okay, yes smart ass. It IS a pain medicine. What I meant was I didn't have to take Codeine or anything like that. If your saying ibuprofen is the same as codeine that's pretty stupid. Ibuprofen 400 IS a pain medicine, but not a narcotic. Dumb comment.
To whoever is having this procedure done, I had 2 implants put in at this exact location this year. The first part was very painful as I have a very high metabolism at 65 years old and the novacaine was wearing off as my oral surgeon was sewing the stitches. My skin did not grow back over the imbuttments so the second stage to my next appointment 4 months later was quick and painless to my relief! I also have great bone density for my age so that was a factor in my experience. I will have 2 more done next year and even though it was about 20 minutes of pain as it was being done, I think it will be well worth it for my dental health for the rest of my life!

It's so lengthy and intensive in real life must take forever to heal and be as painful as getting a broken jaw, but implants look amazing and in the end are less pain than dealing with weak natural teeth.

I’ve never understood why dentistry is not part of healthcare. Most dental insurance only covers things that most people can afford anyway. I had open heart surgery a few years ago and it didn’t cost me anything. You go to a dentist you have to take out a second mortgage on your home. Anything past a filling or an extraction is ridiculously expensive

You explain this quite well, however I have demonstrated this to dental students an they all ask " how do you know how to do a dental implant procedure " my cousin is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon I've watched him do this procedure 100s of times. I've explained this to my cousin an he said you can do the other surgeries I'm taking the afternoon off.
This is a very dated procedure. Nowadays they 3D x-ray image the jaw. And no longer need to slice open the top of the gum and peel it back. Since the dentists can see where the tooth needs to go. They just do the punch through for the screw anchoring. The old way was very painful and you could be in agony for more than a week. The new system you may need a couple of headache pills for a day.

I had step 1 procedure done yesterday at smiles arts of NY in manhattan ..they put endosteal Bone graft to fill in for missing bone...it cost me $1500 ....now i have to wait like six months to heal for step 2 to insert the crown which is another $1500 ...altogether im paying $3000. To be honest I dont feel alot of pain just discomfort as anyone would expect.

That's just the surgery part of the procedure. For the part with the tooth you have go on with the prosthetic animation.
this was just a pathologist board at work playing with a corpse.
Som dentists do it in one step but the ideal way is to let the implant heal then open flap again and put the gingival former (healing cap)

Well I guess it comes down to if you can afford to them then at once and if it's practical to do them at once. The 2 I just had down were immediate installs which required no bone grafts.
wesley bilodeau I think my best bet is to just get the press on veneers for now, and just save up for the implants. I really want these soon.

Endeshaw Habte ....Potential risks are: The implant failing, if it is a lower it could get into your main nerve canal and cause permanent numbness. Risks are very minimal especially with a dentist that is very well versed in placing implants. Complete operation for healing is 8 to 12 months. After extraction 4-6 months for the bone to regenerate and after implant is placed another 4-6 months for the bone to grow around the implant to make it sturdy. After that the abutment is placed and the crown on top of the abutment.

Kyle same amount of time. Bone grafts are synthetic bone and is placed normally at the time of extraction if needed. Bone regeneration happens at the same rate with or without a graft. Only difference is the graft will give you more bone to "play" with for retention purposes and better chance for long-term success of the implant.

I just had my implant procedure done on Thursday last week, and I want to share with you my experience:
The procedure lasted about 30 minutes and was perform without Pain during and after the procedure, any way the first day I took ibuprofen 600 every 6 hours, the second day I took only one ibuprofen in the morning and one before bed.
After the implant procedure I didn't eat anything for the whole day as a precaution, the second day to date I am eating ONLY Purees, my cheek is slightly swollen buy since day one I have been using Cold Pads. So far so good. I will keep sharing as the process goes. Because before deciding for the implant I was looking for People with real implants experiences and found none. So I took my decision and here I am will see how it develops.
On January 5, I had my implant procedure and it's been nearly one month since. After 6 days, the Dentist cuted the stitches out. I'm not having any discomfort in the area. As a precaution when eating, I try, that the food doesn't hit the area hard. In March, I have my next Appointment.
@@candycandy4639 I had my procedure two days ago, 4 implants. I had no pain during the surgery but I felt a little pain once the anesthesia was gone. I'm having a little disconfort while I'm eating.
I had 2 implants done next to each other with bone reconstruction as there was not enough bone. The procedure took 3 hours. Pain starts after 90 mins as the anaesthetic wears off but the dentist gave me another 4 shots and I felt nothing.

Yes. I was sedated for extraction of old tooth , debridement and bone grafting in one procedure. After healing,a second procedure for the drilling for the implant was also under sedation.
SO many drilling... I don't think I'll be able to stand the drilling even with a local anesthesia 😥kriss said that patients can opt for sedation and I'll probably have that.. 😫
Drilling can be nerve-wracking for sure! Kriss is right, sedation can be a good option, but maybe headphones with calming music could help too? Try to talk to your dentist about your options first.

Step 1: remove bad tooth and any infected neighbouring tooth. Wait 3 months. Step 2: implant placement with bone reconstruction in some cases if there was not enough bone. Wait 3 months. Step 3: implant placement. So you’re looking at 6 months minimum. Worth it though.

Cindy I had this done and felt no pain at all actually. It was quite surprising. The tooth extraction was 100 times worse.

I'm concerned about implant screws from China that look like standard wood screw thread. They are listed as titanium but look like stainless . They say FDA approved but I found out many electrical items that have a CE approval stickers are not Certified but instead China claims it stands for China export !
