- In this Oil painting portrait I expand my range of brushes by one and introduce the 'Grunge' brush. I feel by keeping to very few brushes and exploring them fully before adding others I really get to know each tool and feel confident when selecting a brush for a particular task. This is a portrait of Phil Doleman, a well known Ukulele player from the UK. He is an excellent performer and entertainer. You can find links to his RUclips channel and website below. I really recommend you check him out.

This is very inspiring! And you’re very humble too. Really like the style of your painting.
Hi aj, thanks a lot 👍
Grunge is a great brush! I made a larger variant I use a lot too.
I don’t think you realise that your one of the best RUclipsr for realistic painters on the ipad thank you so much for you insight. Would you ever do I open to requests and Q n A in the future ?
Hi, thanks a lot, yes to both, I’ve been thinking about requests for quite a while. To be honest I’ve got so many ideas buzzing around i have trouble fitting them all in
What an awesome portrait which captures the emotion and energy in that moment!
Hi Andrew, thanks. This guy is a great musician. I really enjoyed painting his portrait
Wonderfully executed! Beautiful 😍
Hi poocky100, thanks a lot
I absolutely love the portrait, Steve, and it's really fascinating to see it appear!
Thanks Phil, glad you like it
I dig your music Phil
Really like this painting, Steve!
Thanks Steve, I painted it a while ago, but it’s one of my favourite portraits
really inspiring!! Thank you Steve for posting
You're welcome. I'm glad you like it
Great job and a very enjoyable video. You are a great inspiration.
Hi Robert, thanks a lot
Fab portrait, hopefully get to see more musicians portraits, there brill x
Nice work Steve!
Thanks Robert
I really enjoyed this one, Steve. Don't know how I missed seeing it before now. I hope you'll do more portraits. What size procreate canvas do you start with to be able to print at poster size?
Hi Melisa, thanks. I think this one was 24” x 18” at 300dpi. That does restrict the number of layers available in Procreate, but that’s not a problem for me
Steve can you post a picture of the grunge brush on Twitter so I can see the actual texture of the brush? Lovely portrait!
Hi Anna. I’ve just posted a tweet about the grunge brush. I couldn’t tag you as I don’t know your Twitter tag
Steve Elliott my tag is @leartiste67 on Twitter.
So you aren't putting your photo in procreate on a different layer to reference. You are using a different app and using split screen?
Hi Light Science, I am using the inbuilt feature of the iPad. I have a video explaining how to do it on the channel
Where can i get the brushes 🧐🧐???
All the brushes are standard Procreate brushes and come with Procreate
Where to get these brushes ?
Hi Bren, these are all default brushes that come with Procreate.
what type of brush you used for blending?
Hi liz, for this I'd be using a combination of the turpentine and oil brush
@@SteveElliottArt I thought you used both of them as actually brush not as blending tool xD Thanks btw..
