Andrew, I can't believe that this is your first time using Procreate and producing such a nice sketch. This is a testimony that artistic talent and technique matter more than the tools used especially if the tool does not stand in your way and moreover augment your artistic expressiveness and Procreate is right there. I am glad you got the hang of it and I look forward to seeing more sketches and prep works using Procreate in the future.

It's kinda funny how this type of stuff needs to be "testamented" over and over again lmao.
It's like how beginners just don't understand and accept that fundamentals are really all that matter.
I guess we just wanna search for endless shortcuts and hope that maybe now there's be somekind of an advancement in art that the artists of yesterday didn't have.

I have been learning procreate for the past year, and I paint a lot of cows as my main subject in oils....annnnd, I paint in a realistic style. And you still blow anything I do out of the water!! Having a clear understanding of light and shadow and drawing skills proves it doesn't matter what medium you use...Way to go Andrew, once you learn to completely navigate the options it will blow your mind what you can do with a touch of a pen, finger...thanks for sharing...

That was a superb drawing you did, amazing tones, details, now it makes it even more exciting to try it, I love the details in painting but didn’t think I would be able to manage that digitally on procreate. I am certainly not a tech expert by any means, just hope I can work the program out lol.

I can't afford nice big drawers, but I've duct-taped a bunch of second hand flat paper drawers together and labeled individual drawers for reference photos, tracings, loose paper, postage, marketing, small art supplies... then some shelves with small buckets with larger art supplies.. lots of vertical drying racks... but still would love some inspiration to stay tidy since I'm in the living room and it's hard to ask others to stay tidy when my area appears untidy (despite being organised) :)

I know your comment is quite old but I want to reply to it anyway.
I felt like that about digital art for years until I discovered that the two worlds can easily be combined. I often sketch things digitally, print them out and then render them traditionally. I have also scanned/photographed traditional pieces that went into a direction that I didn't like and finished them off digitally. Another commenter said he prints his digital art onto canvas and embellishes it with oils.
There are a lot of possibilities!

My issue with procreate is the super compressed dark value ranges, if you import something from photoshop with a lot of subtlety in the shadows it will all be lost to black on procreate (ipad has this issue in general, but it seems exaggerated with procreate), and likewise if you paint something dark in procreate it will print or display on photoshop very washed out.
It even does this when the Ipad is set up to display on a proper graphics monitor, so it isn't just a local display issue.
It is entirely possible I'm too old and missing some technical settings somewhere... but it is great for drawing and has fantastic brush design tools, way more in depth than photoshop's.

Tons of fun to watch!!! Really interesting to watch a traditional artist using iPad Apps for the first time. Not sure whether you've tried ArtStudio Pro yet, but the brush engine is even better ... although it takes a bit longer to become familiar with the interface. Both Apps are great and files can be imported back and forth in PSD format so that you can take advantage of the best tools and features of both Apps for the same project. I hope you'll do many more of these kinds of videos.

THis is the first time I have seen a Procreate demo. I would love to see more. Not sure how it would help me - probably because I do not know it's capabilities and I do not do a lot of designing, I work mostly from photos.

Procréate is fun and I would advise a paperless texture screen protector

This looks amazing! You’re really great. I recommend using a paper-like screen on your iPad, it’s really comfortable to draw on.

I really like your drawing board or desk set up. You think you could give us a video tour of it. It may help me with my set up or give me a few ideas. Thanks Andrew

I like the horse painting in the background. Do you have a video of it.

I love procreate! Incredible value for money compared to photoshop. You may be aware already, but one feature I love is the video feature where you can see your painting strokes in a time lapse video. If you click on the spanner icon, the click on video and then time-lapse replay it plays the video of your painting! :)

Hope you have a video about NFT , or interview about it. How can we relate as traditional artist in this modern world. Thanks Andrew. More Powers

I use Artrage myself its very easy but powerful to use ans no othet software simulates oil painting like what it does.
