This ingenious six-minute saga sees a group of affluent suburban Spiritualists take revenge on a phoney medium after his elaborate 'séance' goes awry. It's likely the special effects, such as the lowering of the light and the disembodied ghost, were the work of early trick film pioneer W.R. Booth.

that was so cool, amazing special effects for nearly a hundred and ten years ago. I loved the ghost hands and face. so clever!

They was all done in darkness so they couldn't be recorded

@@younesmohssen8158whether or not seances were "real" ie actually talking with ghosts, spiritualist mediums absolutely held seances where the spirits would "manifest" by way of parlor tricks - that could be caught on camera, were it not always dark in the seance room of course, to hide the assistants operating the special effects. but to dismiss the historic truth that seances were performed with "it's not real" is to ignore the truth.

Hilarious! One minute, 2 men carry the charlatan plus divan quite easily. the nest 3 men huffing and puffing carry him onto a hand cart.
