Denis Villeneuve is a smart director and knew what he wants, knows the story more than likely because he read it as a fan, speculation, he knows how to adapt well and how to make it for regular audience.

I want God emperor of dune, solely so I can have the chance to sit with my father and be like “yes, that worm is Timothee Charlemagne son

Just because Villeneuve's Dune movies are decent doesn't mean the other iterations of the franchise will be good. Keep in mind Peter Jackson wrote & directed the Hobbit films which were bloated and compared unfavorably to the original LOTR trilogy. Prophecy isn't based on any of Herbert's actual books so no doubt modern writers will be employed to wokeify the crap out of it and cater to modern progressive sensibilities. Basically the likelihood that Dune Prophecy will suck eggs is very high. Given Hollywood's track record over the last 10+ years Dune fans should temper their expectations with cautious optimism combined with a 'wait & see' attitude.

I actually liked the prequels, Brian's books. Someone said The Butlerian Jihad with humans vs Ai would be relevant to today. Denis must stop sometime, but we need a director like him who is obsessed with the God Emperor book and try to make a film series or show series on that one and also, a talented director like Denis who is obsessed with Duncan Idaho. As for Prophecy, I was hoping they'd hire the teams from Motherland: Fort Salem, and make it about the Sisterhood, but with better changes and improvements. I did not like that show, but it had parts that would be really good for Dune Sisterhood Prophecy, or whatever.

LOL. Dam no spoilers but since the first book which this is based on feels like an anthology, and historical tale i must say the second one is much shorter. Dune messiah, Children of Dune.

dune books are amazing.. But like Andreijs Sapkowski (Witcher author) some adaptations of the universe will usually be an improvement upon it.. I hope we'll get atleast some of his intended vision through the movies.. After the second movie.. I've been re-reading the second and third book.

Dune is literally about the problems with religion and about climate change and many more political topics
