[TAS] SNES Super Mario All-Stars: Super Mario Bros. 3 "playaround" by Genisto in
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 20 фев 2018
- This is a tool-assisted speedrun. For more information, see tasvideos.org/1035M
TAS originally published on 2007-12-25
Taking a break from the usual goal of pure speed, Genisto ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/G... ) instead decides to break Super Mario Bros. 3 from the Super Mario All-Stars pack. This run demonstrates programming errors, abuse of the game engine and commits suicide in ways most people have never even considered.
Mario plays through all 8 worlds in a fashion similar to a warpless run. Игры
14:02 the music sync here was brilliant
kirjian awesome!
I'm disappointed that there aren't any official remakes or remixes of that theme that end in that way. It's so aesthetically pleasing...
Was going to say the exact same thing, lol.
18:46
That was very cool, ngl.
I swear every "for fun" tas is a joy to watch
This can't be even be called a speedrun.
@@ballsxan Yes it can, because it's timed.
@@KingofJ95 what are the stipulations for this one? Any% with 74.291% fun factor allowance?
@@nthgth It's playaround%
the rules are you must make it as fun to watch as you can.
Playaround% are essentially "Do as many cool tricks as possible as fast as possible". It can be done for fun, but also can be used to tutor speedrunners on tricks that may be useful in certain parts of the game to save time
Nothing is more hilarious to watch than a TAS on an autoscroll level.
Oh it's beautiful
6-2 was an absolute riot 🤣

Sick Cat “The truth is, Mario... the game was rigged from the start.”
You know the TAS is good at glitching when it can die in the mushroom house
toads revenge
14:02 the music goes perfectly timed to the end
Imagine bowser having a cctv on each level and watching this surging wave coming toward him
bowser: you cheating
mario:SO LONG A BOWSER
It's like he is watching a demon hurtle at supersonic speed just to hunt him down and kill him, destroying everything he built in the process.

The fact that the tas intentionally never gets 3 matching cards is amazing but infuriating

Fastest moonwalk ever
More like moonrun
Micheal Jackson is surprised
XD
Funny thing is, I new how to do it before watching the tas, cuz I was playing it on my phone, and I thought what would happen if I held both left and right. I unintentionally discovered something cool and I thought that was so funny.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can't believe they added BLJ to Mario 3.
Back in time when Michael Jackson played Super Mario All-Stars.
@Christian Rosario I am so glad someone else mentioned the moonwalk hehe
I can't believe he betrayed Sonic the Hedgehog 3

This is a certified HEE HEE moment
This tas is awesome and here is why... It's fun as hell. I love it when people do tas just (as the title says) playaround, they do tricks and glitches for the fun of it, taking time, making swag things, showing interesting things and all of that. I apreciate the speed, the glitches for the sake of speedruning but, I will always love the fun you can have with examples like this.
One of my all-time favorite TAS movies gets an HD encode at last. It is a good day.
I love the parts where this one clips through the walls only to find a bottomless pit. It's like "Whoopsie daisy! Thought I was gonna discover me a whole new way to cheese the game, but I guess it's back to square one with me!"
Seeing 1-up jump chains in strange areas is satisfying.
At 14:05 they made the level music match up with the level end fanfare!!! We are in the presence of pure genius! 😮
I never knew that if you die in a toad house the world 7 theme plays
Yeah, I wonder why that happens? I do understand the programming uses memory code to refer to different sprites and tiles, which is how you get those TAS speedruns like Super Mario World being completed in like 1 minute, by triggering the end screen in Yoshis Island level 2, but still wondering the exact methodology of why world 7 theme plays in an area you're not supposed to die in.

Loved it :) there aren't enough tas like this
Called taf i think. (Tool asisited freerun) but idk

people should do more playaround
Yo this is fun as hell to watch
Pokehero it is called a playaround :D
theres another in super mario world by igorsantos777. he plans to do a freerun of the whole game, and is in the special world already
14:00 the music just ended perfectly
18:17 today I learned.
6-2 was a work of art.
tbh all of world 6 was amazing.
Entropy some of the levels in world 6 are hell. but nit because they are hard, but they are confusing and terribly designed
This kind of TAS is my favorite kind.
Ya
Really kewl masterpiece of Art!
Thanx a lot for the splendid Entertainment, Genisto!

The moonwalking effect is from holding left and right at the same time
Oh yeah, games freak out when pressing left and right at the same time, you just can't do it on original hardware because the controller doesn't support it
There's a similar effect in SMB2/USA where pressing up and down at the same time while climbing will make your character skyrocket up.
I was today years old when I learned the tanooki suit can kill flamethrowers
And thwomps
He tries to stomp that fire at 28:54 several times. I just can't
Why does the world 7 music play when mario "dies" at the toad house?
In the world 1 also mario dies in the toad house
CatPublishingStudios I don’t know. That was very unnecessary for the World 7 music to play
Mario isn't supposed to die there, so the game is a bit confused.
i dont have perfect memory but from what i remember, the world map and actual levels use different sound banks and in the world map sound bank the world 7 theme is in place of the death sound. as a result, on death the game attempts to load the death sound, but since the world 7 theme took place of it in the world map sound bank, it uses that instead
i dont know why the toad house isnt a level. i just dont know
@@qsyki I did some research and the Toad House music you hear is a separate music track from the P Switch theme, although completely identical. The reason the World 7 music plays when you die in a toad house is because the game doesn’t update to the correct sound bank (as you said) when entering a Toad House or Spade Panel (for reasons idk). The World 7 theme just happens to be the same ID as the death theme, which is why it plays.
1:06:25 What? Mario uses a hammer suit, Bowser's fireball while he is upside down. Too funny!
I was wondering if I was being trolled by the 99 coins you'd been sitting at since 53:55, then 1:03:17 confirmed it.
And then 1:03:26 is the icing on the cake.
I like how pressing both left and right makes mario twice as fast
I didn't notice right away so I might have missed a few levels early on, but I like how he seems to avoid getting a mushroom card at level end. I'm only halfway through, maybe that changes, but it's been flowers and stars for as long as I've been keeping track, so far. It's subtle.

Should be called "Chill-TAS"
playarounds are the best TAS

Ah yes, exactly how I remember this game. =3
What a fun TAS man, great video
Too bad the TASer didn't get in the frog suit easter egg, too, but at least I got to see a lot more hammer bros suit use this time. XD
Honestly, SMB3 has my favorite iteration of Bowser. He had airships, tank columns, super tanks, a naval fleet, an air force... basically, a full military. Later on, he tended to be portrayed more as a goofball than a serious tyrant, albeit a lovable one. It was admittedly mostly the RPGs that portrayed him that way, though lol. Still, here he's a powerful monster king with his own full military, and has conquered 7 kingdoms (not counting the Dark World, which I seems to have been is his home). Eight, if you count the capture of Princess Toadstool. She had only been kidnapped for the second time at this point, so it wasn't quite so cliche yet lol.
King Koopa was honestly a badass in SMB3
40:09 Stop he’s already dead
World 4 should've had big Bullet Bills.
Delightful!
amazing and ultra enternaining
I like how in 4-3, the TAS bot doesn't pull ANY tricks, it just calmly gets past the big hammer bros... And then it enters the pipe and shit goes NUTS.
It's like sneaking past the outside guards, then tearing it up inside the compound, while the guards are still finishing their cigarettes. James Bond would be proud!
Mario is having a fun run!
Mario is...

if you are interested in how it can move so fast - this happens by pressing left + right, which is only possible on the emulator
Wow dude you're a god at this game
42:57 I know something otherworldly will happen, but didn't expect that he will use aimbot.
This is a joy to watch!

What About The Wall Jumps
This is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! This level of skill is otherworldly, how on earth does someone get so good???????????????????????
This is a Tool Assisted Speedrun. They use an emulator to go frame by frame to press the right buttons at the right time. Then they can have the computer press those buttons in real-time to show it in actual gameplay.
It's more about finding and showing the game's possibilities than showing the player's skill.

These speedruns look more abstract than an ai generated video
Why at 1:48 it makes the pipe land(world 7) theme?
Idk
In SMB3 you see the kings, but in all the other games there's no mention of them
that's odd ...
What is the basic goal of a "playaround"?
It is not to speedrun the game and see by how much you can break the current record, but to mess around with the physics engine and exploits you can do with the game.
5 months late, but to also show entertainment within the game.
Whereas a straightforward speedrun breaks the game for time and profit, a fun run just wants to watch the world burn.
Classic.
Have the evil disco orbs been in a Mario game other than this one?
Super mario world has the orb for the sunken ship
