    Hey- thanks for making this video. I’ve had the LVX for awhile, but I really haven’t fallen in love with it. I sat down with the LVX yesterday- after stumbling into your video, and made a rad preset, gained better understand of how to operate it, AND wrote a rad song around the patch I built (my band confirmed they dig the song ideas so far). So yeah- thanks man! Appreciate this video a lot.

    The LVX is a magic machine. I’m running two analog synths through it and it sounds absolutely wonderful. It can do even more with the latest update. I suggest any new LVX owner do a deep dive into it’s massive multi-fx capability by starting with a blank preset.

    I was a little frustrated with the UI when I got the first pedal. Within a few days I was comfortable using it and now cannot imagine not having it. FWIW I saved and removed all stock presets and built my own from scratch...this was a great way to learn for me. I do use the graphic view, which surprised me, as I thought I would end up using the text view. (Honestly I should try it especially for multi as that structure can be tedious to set up.)
    So much to tweak and sculpt, and the results audible and LUSH. Although the Boss DD-500 is very tweakable with assigns, the LVX is easier to get wide stereo spread from...and it has more multi-tap variety.
    Having completely ignored the volume pedal preamp, I had no idea you could use it to do tremolo, but that makes perfect sense. Of course the Ring Mod in the modulation section also does tremolo, but it's nice to have that block free for other things.

    • @nickreesyt
      @nickreesyt  Год назад

      hey how are you getting on with the LVX?

    • @Telorchid
      @Telorchid Год назад +1

      @@nickreesyt Getting on great! Lately I've spent a lot of time combining it with other stereo stuff to see what kind of mileage I can get. The LVX gets you so far on its own, and sometimes adding more stuff doesn't really seem to add much (e.g. running a huge LVX patch into a big Cathedra setting on the Mercury7 doesn't necessarily give you 'twice as big.') But I have found some analog stereo choruses in front to be really nice. Pigtronix Echolution 2 also seems to add something, the stereo is nice but limited, but the delay repeat texture is different enough from the LVX to complement it well.
      The LVX has also inspired me to experiment more with my Boss DD-500, and I've actually gotten some cool new stereo things from the Shimmer and Pattern algorithms, which I haven't messed with much despite having the Boss for years. Some of these patch ideas I may try implementing on the LVX.

    For keyboard players we completely understand this workflow because synths can get deep and complicated. It's second nature. What I need it for is the CS80 clone and the ring modulator so I'm wondering can I control with MIDI using a CC setting to interact with the ring modulation? I didn't see a CC channel directly for ring mod but can it be assigned to a CC channel. I see several options for Mods in general. Thus I'm thinking whatever Mod you have set that CC channel will control it. So if I assign my aftertouch to that CC channel it should kick in that effect.

    What a maddening pedal! I almost feel Meris is competing for the most misleading user interface possible. For example, the majority of your demo was with a multi-pitched delay. That’s great. But a swell will be wanted by very nearly zero users. So where is this control? Why, it’s buried in a menu of course. What menu? Well, we are in Graphic Mode where there is nothing graphic anywhere in sight, so no help there. Text Mode, likewise is designed for minimum understanding, so no help anywhere. With all those display chops, I’d think Meris could produce graphics and text that actually tell the user at least something about the signal flow. You have unlimited time to experiment, right? Actually… no I don’t.
    I tried to understand why you would not show the quickest way to toggle the swell on and off, before it occurred to me you couldn’t find it either. Such a dominant parameter of a preset needs to be identified all the time. Meris begs to differ, building a stylish user interface rather than a pragmatic one. The dancing circles fail to relate in any way to what we hear & how we can change it; just the important stuff. This design failure runs through their entire product line, which share absolutely spectacular sound quality with utterly inscrutable controls. There lies the maddening part. Clearly, a brilliant engineer came up with the algorithms and major attention has been paid to sound quality. Now they need to place an ad for a heuristics specialist. If they don’t know this yet, the marketplace will be happy to educate them.
