Had a video idea Chops - get together a GT and a naked GSX-S with your GX and compare them back to back with all the issues sorted. Stock tyres changed, brake pads, suspension set up etc. Too many reviews of these bikes say the same things "Oh the tyres are rubbish" when it's just not important. People need to know what they're like with good tyres because they're going to change them anyway! Like a big GSX-S megatest. 😂
amazing mate, You are really selling that Suzuki to me. In 40 years of constantly riding I have never even ridden a 4 cylinder. Mad I know. It just looks like what I need. Sports tourer without all the expensive unreliable shite that the European bikes have.
I bought a GX a couple of months ago, after having owned mostly European bikes, the last 2 being a speed triple R and a 1290 SD. The GX is very good if you want basically a sport bike with the convenience of panniers, the engine has very good midrange (it feels like my 1050 speed triple engine with more revs and top end) and the electronic EERA suspension is extremely good. My only complaints are the supersport gearing so tall 1st and 2nd and short 6th, and the fuel efficiency if you twist the throttle. Easy to go down to 14km/l.
My dad was in Germany heading for Hamburg in 1944 but couldn’t actually enter the city because it was reduced to nothing. Looks quite a good place to visit now.
Good ole Hamburg. Rode around it on the motorway in August. Major long term roadworks, major tailbacks, creeping along - What a pain. it’s what dct was made for ! Went under that suspension bridge also in August on a ferry to Oslo.
Barrier gate and Mossy leading the pack had carnage all over it! Glad you got through unscathed and the burger looked amazing! Looking forward to more shenanigans in Denmark 👍
Still the Yamaha for me with a top box. Once you’ve had one, life without it is impossible. Bought 2 large books for my son’s birthday. Pull out the helmet- not a problem.
Yes. First bike should stop under the barrier once it first raises, all other bikes then go through, first bike then rides.... Done it many times, it always works.
Rather you than me, hate riding in groups, especially abroad. There is always one show off trying to impress with how fast he can ride and its usually the bloke who knows where he`s going, so you have no choice but to stick with him. Being in a different country, I would rather slow down and appreciate what you are seeing, rather than it going by in a green blur...
Good old Osnabrück almost my hometown :) What people in Germany might know it for is that it’s one of the two cities in which the treaty was signed that ended the 30 years war in the 17th century. Schnitzel for sure looked good :) Lovely series!
Another great video and episode 2 didn’t disappoint, roll on episode 3. I always like a bit of faffing, so I guess barrier-gate was close enough. The bikes look like they are doing the business.
yes you should go back to Hamburg its a great city-and there is a U boat in Kiel nearby!! great bike that I wish they would do an active suspension gen 3 busa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr chops 👋 Looking to do my K8 with the set up you did 😊. Anything I did to be aware of other than the 108mm centres on the calipers before I purchase them?
Reaper bann and a real sore ass ,,but heh it's a cracking series of videos,, brilliant stuff ☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland,, inspiration for many people,,,👍👍👍👍
It’s a nice trip you are doing 😎 I see you have English number plates but km/h on the speedometer. Do you change from miles/hour to km/h when you come over? I’m looking forward to next episode.. Thanks & cheers for this series 😀👍
Great to see the tours are back! A great part of the world! Though from my childhood memories back when there was a ferry from Harwich to Bremerhaven the crossing could get a little spicy! Keep up the good work!
Wonder how this compares to a Versys 1000 or acNinja1000 , both bikes getting updated for 2025. Have seen some less than glowing reviews on the bikes handling …I think they were referring to the rear wheel sliding out .
Is the 1000gt still a regular bike? I like the series of bikes cuz when it first came out with the GSX s1000 GT it was cable throttle not much space station crap and more about riding a motorcycle tha being about rider "aides" and a bunch of convoluted controls and extra stuff to beeak. I just miss good basic bikes that werent a million dollars. Even the T7 couldnt stay where it was at perfection and price and "aides" are now ticking up on newer model years... *Sigh*. I dont need rider modes ( rain mode is 1/4 pr less throttle. Eco half or less throttle , regular 3/4 or less and sport mode is full throttle. Am I the only one? This is why im never selling my 02 Fz1. I just cant find a similar set up. I wouldnt mind fuel injection but thats it
Man the music is a bit loud 😂, I have you tube premium and queue my vids late at night sometimes ,this vid would blow my headphones off , play a bit of Enya , a great contrast to the engine sounds .😊
Mind U, within the EU there are no roaming charges for mobiles or data, another brexit gift for ya. Tach in km/h? My XR panniers are rated to 180 km/h and with panniers and me (a rather large blob) the bike becomes a bit twitchi in the rear at 230. Hamburg is a recently renovated city, after the visit from Arthur Harris's crews in 1943.
On the GX I think they are rated to 130km/h, lazy rating tbh. I did 210 with them on with no problem other than the front end becoming a tad light tbh.
He won't. He barely tours as it is. He'd rather be at home with a sponge cake and a cuppa in the winter, and the summer days out, he has multiple bikes to choice from. A touring bike isn't chopsy.

I'd say 14km/l is good, Im getting around 11 km/l average out of my Honda vfr1200x @@valebliz
It's great and has a charm about it that it quite rare with a straight four.

Nice vid. Your tours are more interesting & entertaining than most. I also enjoy your wittering for some reason lol.

What a brilliant video and classy editing Chops. Felt I was with you riding along. Thanks for the great content 👍 👌
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks 👍

That car park fail 😂
You were very patient.
Stop under the barrier, they usually sense and go back up.
Yes. First bike should stop under the barrier once it first raises, all other bikes then go through, first bike then rides....

Another quality vid chopsy

Great vlog, Reeperbahn in Hamburg is an interesting night out.
You gotta love the Autobahn😅 finally those K5 engines can breathe Haha

OK will try and get it 👍

Hate those types of barriers. 😂
Good stint, really can appreciate how exhausting 10h on a bike are :D
A hard life you live on the road - thank you for suffering for our benefit🙂
It's tough Paul 😄👍
Brilliant roads in Germany ! . You should spend some time in Hamburg next time . Visit the fish market, and of course the red light district.
Sounds good 😀
Yes, enjoy watching and eating Lamb Chops not whilst I'm riding though

Yes very easy to swap to KPH in the dash options 👍
Love the tour vids 👍👍. Have your thoughts on GX vs XR changed after doing long trips on both ?
No not really still the same... GX offers much better value but they both do the same thing.
Great to see the tours are back! A great part of the world! Though from my childhood memories back when there was a ferry from Harwich to Bremerhaven the crossing could get a little spicy!
Keep up the good work!
Hamburg aint an old school city, we flattend it during ww2, its all quite new built 🤣.. nice place though been there a few times with work .
Well that's very true... some survived
Follow upGreat follow up video 😊
What’s your thoughts on the comfort seat, is it worth the extra dosh 💰
No probably not.. it looks better but foam is a bit harder. The standard seat has enough padding, it's the width is where it needs work
how this stack up vs CONCOURS 14 ??
Wonder how this compares to a Versys 1000 or acNinja1000 , both bikes getting updated for 2025.

Haha very true! 😄👍

How's the fuel economy? Any numbers?
Not great, 17.5km/l touring pace, 14-15 if you start to rev the engine in low gears.
It's like any straight four, very good until pushed over 6k revs

No, I keep telling him he should. He's doing his bit for Bike World so expect something from them soon on this 👍
