    You are not kidding! being to think out side of the box is a wonderful thing.
    to be able to look at something and design a way to fix it so that you are able
    to keep it running at the same time have it in such a way that is not a destructive
    way of modifying the piece of equipment. so often now parts are not available
    or have been discontinued, when you try to get harvester’s running, time is so critical
    during harvest, so much to do in a limited time. great video, enjoy your narration of
    what is going on.

    Any man or woman can have an idea and with time and money and know how to do it, he or she can build anything they want or change. Like the way you cut the sprockets to make the chain drives. I like it. Have a great day be safe.

    My hat is off to you sir, so refreshing to see someone else with the same sickness as myself. I love old equipment and seeing it fixed and running again ( on a job not just at some show ) is awesome. L2 on tracks everyone stand and clap your hands, this is fixin to get good.

    Ok, first thing, I watched the video of you putting on the tracks. I was having some anxiety when the combine began to move, lol, I was saying whoa,whoa. Thank goodness it didn't fall. As for the modification to the drive, I must say that it looks awesome. I'm really excited to see it in the field. Once you get the tracks turned around, it will be great. Looking great now. And happy birthday young man. Maybe someday I will get a chance to see it in person.

    If you did it right the first time, no one would have anything to complain about. And besides, you wouldn't get that much needed practice by doing it 2, or maybe 3 times. I think it's Awesome! I like your enthusiasm and willingness to try. That's what is missing in this Country. Everyone wants to take the easy way out. You and Dad Strength give this old man Hope. Keep the Faith, and God will watch over you and Bless You.

    Your drive looks better than the original AC bracket to me. Neighbor had a M2 with that 630 head. It had a bracket kind of like your original one. I had to rebuild the bracket several times over the years for him. As for the tracks wearing. The crop mat from the corn stalks will keep most of the dirt/mud/rocks out of the hinge point any way. The entire setup looks good to me.

    😀😀😀😀😀Good job The best way for the use of those sprockets is use keyed tapper locks you cut keyway into shaft slide sprocket on and do the allen keys up which pulls the collar in locking tight no need to weld on shaft that way you ever have to remove its a simple operaton.
    The track direction isnt that much of a concern i have walked alot of dozers around farms over long distances over the years backwards. Tracks are made to go back an forth excessice wear to pins and bushes nothing to stress about how many years had they gone other direction it just equals up the wear 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 the project isnt a million dollar machine so go for it 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍Here in Australia alot of harvesters of the cleaner era ran on steel tracks in rice harvest

    The only concern is the hinge lap lay in dirt and mud is going to wear the plates and you may pick up small pebbles. The latter being bad. Do you have literal lima bean sized pebbles in the field? Stuff is going to vibrate into that hinge. In the long term it doesn't actually matter which way the beams sit, its just the track - so if you swap the tracks and leave the beams you'll be ace fine.

    The tracks are backward but the bogie assembly is correct. Slopped through many harvests with 750, 760, and 860 on those tracks and never had a final or hydro problem. Only issue we ever had was on a 2wd 750 in extremely muddy corn and took out the spiders in the transmission from spinning out. Top sprocket gears you down so of course finals must turn faster, if one side spins out it really works the spider gears. Once the pusher axles were installed never a problem. Wasn't anything they wouldn't go through. Really need to check oil in the idlers and bogies. Special oil tip needed to add oil to the bogies because there is only one plug on the outside. It forces the oil through the inside bearing to the outside bearing. Idlers, take both plugs out, pump oil in one hole until it comes out the other.

    So if you reverse your tracs your idler tensioner will be on the wrong side where your tracks are pulling against it when going forward. Don't know if it would matter but it feels wrong.

  • @bladewiper
    @bladewiper 2 года назад

    With the clets on the lower side of the pad, they are more likely to carry dirt, mud, etc on the pad instead of it falling off as the pad starts up the back side. It would be a bit of work but what you could do is when the tracks/frames are off, take the tracks off the frames and turn them around. With the frames off the combine and the sprockets removed, you will have lots of slack to pop the rails/chains off the frames. Then the adjustable idlers are forward and the pads are on correctly.

    Love the project I have a set of gilbert and riplo tracks that I ran on my R52 gleaner they were direct bolt on to the hubs like the new rubber tracks. They are 36" wide and worked great they are to light for my R62 (350 jd uc ) I run my combine in 3 gear also and only in 2wd do to perfect ground speed in 3rd with the pusher on I feel it would be to slow. I had no problems steering or turning in the mud just use the turning brakes some to kept on the row. Had no problems in the mud just had to carry all the corn to the truck or cart. If I can send you some pictures I will Only concern is the front looks really high and your sives are going down hill. but that may not hurt a thing because a combine can go up hill and still work. Thanks

    Would swapping sides with the tracks solve some fitment isues-- the tension adjustment would be to the rear where theres more room, and the fixed idler to the front.. and it solves the " backwards" tracks.. For next time..

    • @mikeznel6048
      @mikeznel6048 2 года назад +1

      No you want the tensioner on the front. When driving forward, which will be most of the time, the track tightens up from the drive sprocket down to the track on the ground. If the tensioner was on the back, it would be pulling the tensioner in and slacking the track way too much in the front.

    There is always keyboard evperts that know everything but know very little because they are to lazy to leave the keyboard. I've been a dairy farmer my whole life and I'll say this " It will never work if you don't try or just do it" . My saying is my farm is built not bought, my great grandfather started the farm with his 2 hands at 23 yrs old in 1872 and built everything the house the barn and silo and everything else needed to raise a family and animals my grandfather carried on where he left off and my parents carried on where he left off and I'm carrying on, we as farmers don't have millions just sitting around for new everything we make things work and engineer what we need at that point in time, sometimes the things we need to do the job we are doing are old and worn out and not made anymore and we need to do some revamp work in order fot it to live again. Yes some of our equipment has been bought new but it usually has been tweeked to make it useful for us and what we do and to work with everything else we have it's farming and these people that say no you can't do that or that can't be done have never done it and only know how to push keys and stuff their pie holes.
