Pittsburgh is not the greatest tape to evaluate Clemson's OL. Starting LT was already hurt...then the backup was lost for the season on the first snap. They had a Chinese fire drill for everyone but the center to get through this one.
Pitt game Clemson lost LT (Freshman backup in) on first play. They moved Blake Miller RT to LT and reshuffled the entire line. Two other starters were out. This is why it was the worst Clemson blocking game of the year. Love the channel, congrats on being on set with Finebaum.
THATS A FACT not the same oline that will play vs texas and you can't judge that game we had lots of injuries not capehart as well lake depth on dline and oline was down to almost walkons
@@williammasters1620 one of their stars would be sitting on our bench bro. Literally. Mukuba. He transferred from Clemson to Texas because he lost his starting spot and got put on the bench by a better safety.
I agree. It probably will be like our game against Arkansas - Low scoring in the 1st half but Texas is in control as we contain Klubnik like we contained Taylen Green then we grind it out on the ground by running downhill in the 2nd half as Clemson’s defense tires since they have limited depth.
I, like you, wasn’t sure which game to watch, so I picked the SC game. Klubnik has an arm, but I didn’t see him put touch on any ball, and he didn’t attack MOF. He threw the fade rly well, but I thought it was obvious that Clemson knew they couldn’t pass protect, because everything was quick concepts. I do think Klubnik’s pretty still in the pocket, which could be a really big issue for them which how Texas covers. The QB rolling left, imo, has everything to do with the hips. Hips have to be more violent when rolling left, so balls jump more. Rolling right makes it harder to rip/snap the hips and generate tons of velo.
You’ve said it before about the throwing motion being about transferring energy. It starts in the lower half driving first and then the shoulders that create the arm whip. The baseball term is hip and shoulder separation. When you roll left you have energy from being on the move as well as being able to create more hip and shoulder separation than you normally could. That’s why the ball jumps.
Texas limited multiple dual threat QBs this year - Diego Pavia at Vandy, Taylen Green at Arkansas, Marcel Reed at Texas A&M, and Michael Hawkins, Jr at Oklahoma. We struggled against Gunner at Georgia I think because we weren’t prepared for him since he had limited film to study and we were focused on stopping Carson Beck.
Great analysis Brooks. I agree. Texas doesn’t consistently run downhill at people. We always try to go side to side or around the edge. That doesn’t work against fast outside linebackers like Georgia has. We did a better job of running at people in the Kentucky game I think and we need to do it against Clemson.
23:00 it doesn’t help that their play action blocking scheme was to pull two linemen. If they had a standard protection they may have been able to get to an out and ip
Walker parks #64 is a true guard not a tackle but we had no other tackle to play so we had to move him out he doesnt have the feet for tackle and it showed for 2 games. I didnt think our line was gonna hold up but they made it through and the starter came back for the south carolina game and they held there defense in check
Georgia has several dudes up front then their linebackers are so fast they clean everything up. Georgia’s defense has the best front 7 Texas has faced all year in my mind, no doubt.
If Clemson goes 5 down in the box they better have lockdown guys on the outside. Texas has been killing teams with the pseudo screen passes to the outside that play like option pitches.
Clemson lost the backup left tackle the 1st play of the game and they was down 3 Oline this game won’t be the same group vs Texas but I do believe Texas is very legit upfront!
The reason why they could block is cause everyone was out of position cause we had 2 starters down and then our lt went down with acl tare on firat play. Our center just isnt great with his feet
The mukuba closes space you can beat him over the top. He doesnt have elite speed. Maybe great closing speed but you can beat him if he over commits He lacked that at clemson
The thing is time. Texas defensive front is really good. There is a reason why teams can’t go deep on them. Good thing about it though is Klubnik may be able to give you a little more time ,
Barron and Taft have plenty of speed to make up for Makuba's relative (he's not slow or anything) lack of it. Safeties don't need a ton of speed though due to the way they play. It's about reading the field and timing for safeties and Makuba is elite at that.
