About 74/75, I was less than 20. Rode my motorcycle from Huntington Beach to Riverside. JW was playing in a high school gym. Worked my way to the stage, leaned on it and watched this 130lb, cross-eyed albino, play So good & So loud!! As a young guitar player, at the time, it's a Great Memory!!!
In 1973 I was invited to a party with the guys and girls from the teachers training school at Mt Gravatt in Brisbane. The party was actually a pool party held at the Mt Gravatt pool. They had two off-duty uniformed police officers for security, but there wasn't even a hint of trouble. The best part of it for me was the band that played there that night. Those guys played every track from the Johnny Winter And . . . studio album, much of the Progressive Blues Experiment album, as well as other well known Rock and Blues songs from that period of time. Those guys really captured the feel of Johnny's work, much like you do with your lessons. It was a stinkin' hot night, and I pretty much spent it in the pool, mesmerised by this band who were far and away the best I'd seen on the Brisbane band scene up until that time. Still Alive And Well had not come out at that time. So Johnny Winter material was kinda hard to come by. I had all his records at home, including The Progressive Blues Experiment, Johnny Winter, Second Winter, and Johnny Winter And . . . Live. I had Edgar Winter's White Trash Featuring Jerry La Croix, with Johnny playing on one track, . . and that was about all there was back then. Johnny was very much an unknown artist in Brisbane, so to find a band who played so much of his material was really something special.
Hi Johnny, I saw Johnny at Winter land in San Francisco when I was 15 and was hooked. I had a big older friend that would always keep me updated on the best rockers of the '70's. Thanks for your lessons. Keep rocking.
Mate, you are the best Johnny Winter instructor on YT hands down!!!! I have been looking for you all these years. Request for Be Careful With a Fool . Just subscribed! 👍👍
I know Keef. There wasn't anybody doing Johnnie Winter lessons, only covers you couldn't follow. He's what all Johnnie Winter fan guitarists have been waiting for, Rock me Yeah!
@@frankrichards3089 I've read that he used a firebird for this one. Sounds like it to me. The tone sure sounds like the neck pickup of a mini humbucker from a Firebird. One day I hope to purchase one.

Def dead on- love it! Which year/model Strat are you playing?! I have to ask b/c it sounds soo much better than many others I hear!
Thank you!
The strat is a late 80"s fender plus strat. The pick ups were changed before I bought it.
You the man! How about Robin Trower.
Yes he's awesome! Thanks for watching
Hi from Brazil. How do you get that tone on a strat? Great video.
I used an eq pedal, plus the thumb pick is really thick which helps the tone pop a bit more. Thanks for watching
What is the Fender Amp your playing here?
It's a Fender Ultimate Chorus.
@@johnnyguitwithit2614 Pretty close to Alive tone with that Amp and the Strat. Is that the Firebird on most of that album you think?

@@johnnyguitwithit2614 Yeah that was his main guitar for many years. Had the white and sunburst.
Well, not so much a lesson as watching someone play the song rather quickly.
These are not for beginners
