- As a data analyst with several years of experience, I can advise you to join my class to learn data management and analysis. I am a lecturer and researcher specializing in Monitoring and evaluation and project management and data analysis. You will learn from the beginner various research designs and how they influence the data analysis process, experimental and non-experimental designs, sample size and how they can influence the analysis process, nature of the variables. We shall comprehensively tackle an important area rarely taught data cleaning step by step and data exploration and how to interpret the results and use the results as the basis for making decisions or seeking for remedy. Various types of regressions both parametric and non-parametric regression models investigate the effects of interaction effects and moderating as well as mediating effects, control variables, etc. So why can't you WhatsApp today for training followed by one month of mentorship until you are very conversant with the entire analytics process and can write output results in the recommended format? with all respect ,test of parallel line one of foundational major assumption for ordinal regression .
Not getting well your question
@@norwegianresearchtraininginsti thanks a lot for quick reply ,I mean first thing we have to check parallel lines assumption ordinal regression . second question if you allow me to ask ... I have data mixed of ordinal , nominal and continues variables .
in fact there are about vaccine trust my depended question is ,how much do you trust vaccine . so i work in R studio ... you advice me first step i have to transfer all related question to one variable and so on . as you see i work in ordinal regression . is it right if i have mixed data ordinal , nominal and continues variables like age , sex , then the rest of questions about vaccine ,but my depended variables are ordinal .... i hope you my point ... do you mind if we can discuss further about that . i highly appreciate your help in advance .
excellent presentation
Good presentation, this is great
thank you Mutua

Dear sir,
Is there perhaps a reference (from an academic article) that supports the following statements:
1. a) The mean can be used to calculate the scale scores for ordinal data (with 5 type likert items).
b) And if the data is not normally distributed you can still continue the use of the mean scalescores.
2. And if the data is not normally distributed you can apply/ use the ordinal logistic regression method instead of the multiple regression analysis.
3. And the interpretation of the parameter estimates of ordinal logistic regression is in this case almost the same as multiple regression where the main aspects are: the beta coefficients, the significance/p-value en the R square/nagelkerke pseudo R.
Kind regards,
Elizabeth
The best book for data analysis majority of us refer is 'A step by step guide to data analysis using the SPSS program' by Julie Pullant
@@norwegianresearchtraininginsti okay.... But why should the mean still be applied to the scale scores if the data is not normally distributed? Shouldn't the median be used instead?
This is good work you are a great teacher
Thank you! 😃
Likert-Scale is commonly used in social research surveys but do you know how best you can analyze such data. Look below the following links after this video. Do not leave the channel before thumbs up and subscribe if you are blessed with this channel

so insightful and interesting resource! thank you mwalimu
THANKS Farah
Wow very insightful course. Thanks

what tests should be done under binary logit? How do you deal with negatively worded questions in the questionnaire
Good work
Thank you! Cheers!
Hello! Thanks for a very helpful introduction to this type of analysis. I was wondering if you could provide a reference to support what is said during minute 20 about the skewness and kurtosis parameter of -1.96 and 1.96. Its just to add this to my dissertation (: thank you again!
SPSS SURVIVAL MANUAL 4TH EDITION BY JULIE PALLAT
Great Video! I have a question, What if my independent variables are measured in a 4 point likert scale, is it okay to use multiple regression?
In my case, I want to find the T test between the gender and five factors. I want to put the data in my table consists gender and the whole result T test for the factors not for each factors. Can you understand what I'm talking about? If you do, please help me!
Thank you for this clear explanation. I am writing on the effect of management style on employee performance in a post-global pandemic world. can I have my dependent variables "employee performance" and independent variable "management styles" now my question is, how do I test the management style that will be best for remote workers, and secondly, I have some dichotomous variables, how do I transform them? thank you
Excellent!
Thank you Peter. Please I have a data set collected with the use of likert scale. Following your example I run a normalily test and my independent variables(2) were not significant(above 0.05) but the dependent variable was significant. Please can I still go ahead and use the Ordinal logistic regression method th analyse my data?
Proceed since Normality is not required for ordinal regression
If all my independent variables are likert scale or dummies, would it still be possible to run multiple linear regression with a dependent Likert 5 scale? Thanks for the video!
9 months later, I am stuck exactly here. Please help if you came right. I have all 5 independent Likert scale variables, I don't know which regression to run
Hey, thanks for the lesson. Can I have the data you have used for the explanation so that I can follow you by practicing each step.
subscribe as a member in yuotube I will send u the data set
I have 3 Likert scale of 5 points and 1Likert scale of 4 points. I read below we can run a multiple linear regression with 4 points. Any suggestion?
Hello, hope you are well? first, I just want to say that I am so grateful for this video, indeed it is quite comprehensive, but please i am presently working on my project and as i follow your step i was stuck on the ordinal regression session. For some reason after inputting my dependent, factor and my covariant variables, i then click on "scale" to input my covariant but it's not allowing me to select as you have done on the tutorial, making my results show without a scale description. Please it will be much appreciated if you can give me some insight on how to do this
Kind regards
sorry I took really long before seeing this you could have emailed me sorry
Great presentation. What should we do to analize pre and post test of Likert scale analysis. Need to compare the pre test values and post test values
run Wilcoxon signed-rank test if normality fails but if the variables has normal distribution then run paired sample t-tests
@@norwegianresearchtraininginsti Thank you.
What if we have two different sample sizes pre and post due to drop outs.
Is that ok to apply indipendent sample t test in that case
@@kauminiherath5696 yes so long as it is continous variable
@@norwegianresearchtraininginsti thank you once again
Hy
Plz understand the outlier and also tell what is range of Normality .how we are confident that our data is normal distributed
There are many normality tests that you can use or apply to know whether your data is normally distributed or not. For example Shapiro & wilk test , D' Agostino test etc.
Hi, I would like to ask if power law is more appropriate to use when my data is non-normal upon testing for normality? Thank you!
I have never had that being used for transforming non-normal. However, there are emerging new discoveries in this area: I know use of logarithm, square and cuberoot, inverse and introducing a constant as explained in SPSS survival manual by Julie Pallat
I have a question. I have a Likert scale question (a SINGLE question) that measures a construct. Is this usable? Can I still do tests and do I still need to compute variable?? I can't find the answer anywhere and I feel like I've done it wrong :(
What does the literature say? Look in the literature to see if anyone else has used a single item of measurement for your construct. If so, cite it and proceed with your test based upon your research design and level of measurement of your variables. Google (single item measure of “construct’s name” ). Hope this helps
In data normality test, can we neglect or delete those variables or operationalized questions that are not normal? In order to go for peramatric test instead of non-parametric test throughout analyzing the data.
deleting is only option for dealing with outlier , normality you transform the variable and work subsequenlty with transformed data for normality
Introduction of this course check here ruclips.net/video/5RfR4aJd6qM/видео.html
Why we must test normality for independent variable instead residual variable for Regression Assumptions ?
Normality should be tested for dependent variable since independent can be continuous or categorical. Though categorical is best fit if we convert them as dummy before fitting in OLS model
Please explain how to deal if there is an outlier
u do data lean up replace all outliers with mean value, or medium or mode value in your dataset
What happens if your box plot has an outlier?
you can use mean , mode or median to replace it or delete it if it cannot affect your sample size
Is this guy from my tribe? haha
How did you pick the dependent variable from the questions
Dependent variable was performance which had ten questions so I got their mean value .
this is a research that was done and the questionnaire had 10 likert -scale questions on dependent variable. so
Can we use likert scale without a hypothesis in the study.
why not,
how on earth can this entry be used for T-test. i entered my data just the way you did and now I am finding it so herculean to test two means.... the groups are tow many to test with a mean. i just wish you understand
Can you please answer this question?
If your sample is more than 30, dou you have to normalize?
Hello , this is a great video.thank you very much.
I tried using Ordinal logistic regression on a survey but got bad results.
test for normalty was fine.
The Indepentent var is the age by ranges (18-25,26-34,35-41,42-50,51+) the depentent var is question in likret scale (1-6)
After running OLR the model fit was 0.118 and the Pearson was 0.006.
according to what I understand the model does not fit the analisys.
could any one help ? I can send the SPSS file .
Anda
you are mixing things up, ordinal logistic regression is a non-parametric tests it does not need normality tests.
@@norwegianresearchtraininginsti thank you for the response, I understand, so the test of normality is for the parametric behaivare. Also i guss I need to check Spearman not Pearson.
How do I treat the issue that the model dows not fit?
what is this come, come, come so boring
welcome
You din't understand anything...you picked only that
Dr I need your contact please 🙏

Would it be meaningful to use the mean as a measure of central tendency to a 4 point likert scale data? Or would it be better to measure the data in frequency?
Thank you.
Not meaningful just use frequencies likert scale remain categorical variable
