With the real world inspirations, you forgot to mention Margaret Cavendish. She was a Duchess in the 17th century who wrote the Blazing World, one of the earliest sci-fi books about the Multiverse. See what Matt did?😏 (I think her work is also a major inspiration for the His Dark Materials books)
"Thank you disembodied voice of Matt Dahan!" Actually made me cackle. This brilliant squid!!!! I love it so much. It is so much fun and so enjoyable. I loved loved loved it. I was smiling the whole time and laughed. And you do such a great job examining all the different aspects of Pulp, it's incredible
This is awesome, Squid! (also /nf but if you really did wanna make an essay on the leitmotifs I'd watch the hell out of it, just saying. I already feel like I understand them more just after your brief explanation here, lol.)
this was awesome, thank you! - i'll 100% use this to try and persuade my friends to watch pulp! it explains the general plot and themes of pulp in such a cohesive manner and characters in such a cohesive manner and i always struggle with how to describe pulp 😭
this is really fun! love the use of various arts, the fanart is beautiful and that gf clip was fitting! the part titles are so fun! part three especially. this is such a good video essay, and if I wasn't already into pulp and it's beautiful narrative and music, I'd totally be interested in checking it out just from your video!! nicely done, squiddy.
Love it love it love it!!! You have given me a new batch of listening material for my commutes and a cool as heck storyline!! Thanks for this video, I'd love to see more like it :3
This is so good! It was really enjoyable throughout and you touched on all the characteristics that make Pulp Musicals a worthwhile listening experience. I loved the way you described the characters as well as the section on leitmotifs. All the songs are indeed bangers. Amazing work!
oh, squid, this is amazing! i had a huge grin on my face while i was watching this - you're hilarious, dude, and even if i wasn't into pulp already, i'd be pulling it up to listen now! you talk so passionately about these gorgeous musicals - and your character analysis is so much fun! i'll have to relisten to this, i think! amazing work! (also, yes, "thank you disembodied voice of matt dahan" did make me wheeze with laughter. as well as "at least he has a cool hat".)
hey there, quick tip, use a limiter/compressor on the final audio track (or a bus track where all audio track go) so that the audio has the same volume throughout, more or less (you can regulate how much these are being used). It helps for the volume not to jump up and down, which can bother a lot of people (myself included)

Oh god I’d LOVE to do a Pulp leitmotif breakdown - knowing Dahan’s work though that would take so long 😅
@@MidnightNautil1 yeah. I barely know the leitmotif stuff and I know there's a LOT.
@@MidnightNautil1 i would 100% be down to see that too!!!
