Story in short: His brother got into a bad car accident in which he was intubated and paralyzed. Parents asked him to step in and help as a father figure, etc. He said no, and 3 weeks later, he went to visit his brother/family at the hospital. He met his nephew there and found out that his family had taken a paternity test to confirm it was the brother's kid. He ended up sticking to his guns and boundaries and decided not to help but did say he's willing to try and rekindle a relationship with his parents as long as they apologize and reach out to him. The end.
I paused it early because the kid has a father & doesn't need a father figure. His dad is now disabled but not dead. And grandma saying he's selfish,family comes first, we'll she nor the rest thought about that when his bro had an affair with his fiance ,gf of 10 years & broke them up a week before the wedding due to pregnancy. OP F'd up. He opened the door just a crack by telling them he would be okay with having contact. If they show that they actually care about him. They've never cared about him. They never will. With a family like his, who needs them. And they were only talking to him because of their need to use him. He owed them nothing and should not have even talked to them. You cant play favorites with your children. Never. And I have tried to do this. My parents did play favorites. I could stand on my own two feet but not my sister. He husband, who she divorced, was even worse. So they stepped in and played surrogate for their child, my nephew, who I really like and have nothing against. My wife and I presented a united front and took care of ourselves but both of us had to work.But we still needed help. We got nothing from my parents and they never came to see their grandchildren. But for my wife's parents, we would have been up the creek without a paddle. And it got worse. We moved into a somewhat upper middle class neighborhood that had post school day care and we were able to get by. My kids attended the local public school system. My parents paid for expensive private schools for my nephew right through college and its cost a ton. So when the time came and they were aged we were there somewhat for them and when they died and we attended the funerals my children looked at it as if a aunt or uncle died, nothing special. And my mothers family played games with her marriage. She was incapable of taking care of a family and they sent their maid to her house and the maid was there for ten years or more. My grandparents gave my mother money under the table without my fathers knowledge and they treated him like a poor relation (they were rich). Sad isnt this.
