Idk who said Zelda isn’t for the story but that’s crazy. Ocarina of Time is a beautiful game and story. It’s why I got a hyrule shield tattoo. Zelda will always be my favorite games.
Like I've said before, your scripted videos like this are excellent. Id be curious to see ones like this for older zelda titles like ocarina or any gamecube era games.
Prior to its release, I had no great expectations for BoTW. The constant delays, questionable mechanics, and few leaks for information really bothered me. But after playing it for only a few minutes, I found the relative 'emptiness,' in story and world, to be rather captivating. All too many games are trying to cram as much 'story' or too many quests in as they can, and in such small maps. They tend to feel so busy. There's just too much going on to enjoy what's going on around you; to stop and enjoy the flowers if you will. I felt the 'emptiness' of BoTW was a breath of fresh air. Besides, there were so many plans for DLC content that they made a whole new game to make up for what was lacking in the original. However, I do feel it might have been a good idea to release some of the DLC content for BoTW as such. It could have bridged a gap between the two games and filled some of the emptiness many players felt. Also, they should have reduced the rain. That much I hate. It's. Always. Raining.
I do love this type of video and loved watching it Also I haven't watched your Harry Potter videos yet because I'm waiting to finish the game for myself before hand, though I will afterward
I'm glad you made the video, Bill, and I hope you get plenty of views from the HYPE TRAIN of TOTK. Literally 50% of the youtube advertisements I get these days are for it. I've known that your view of the storyline of BOTW for quite some time, both your videos (the LP, mainly) and the puppet guy Arlo represent the lion's share of BoTW videos I've watched. I've watched your whole playthrough probably 6 or 8 times, and I've watched Arlo's Big Ass Review of BoTW (or whatever it was called) probably a dozen or more times over the last few years. Both of you guys seem to be on the same tip about the story being a bit "meh". I love both your vids and a lot of Arlo's stuff, but I honestly just don't see it. I thought the story in BoTW was amazing. So much richness in the world that also tells the stories of all the characters. I'll often watch those behind-the-scenes videos about LoTR and how much trouble those people in New Zealand went to in service to bringing the world to life. I think it's very similar here with BoTW. There are tiny details all over the giant world of BoTW that tell the story. Like Zelda's diary saying that she thought "sheika slate" was a bit too "on the nose" for a name to call the thing. THAT WAS HILARIOUS and I lol'ed so hard when I first read that. Like it echoed some conversation at Nintendo, and somebody was sour about it getting a dumb name. Or like the soldiers' hall inside the castle? Or like the Yiga clan guys all over the place dressed as travelers? Or the Yiga/Shieka rift? Those are all lovely touches that Nintendo added in. Like, REAL world-building, like paying attention to how they made the chain mail outfits and that hilarious Rat-catcher's house in Gondor in LoTR... Also, and I swear I'm not lying, the part in the final fight when Mipha says "this will be our final opportunity: WE WILL NOT FAIL" brings me to tears every time. Like. EVERY. single. time. bro. I loved the story, and I've now been playing BoTW almost every day since the first days of the pandemic. I've been playing on multiple files, so I can't track my time precisely, but I'm guessing it's gotta be close to or more than 3,000 hours by now. I'm eager for the new game, but to me, there is just so much story-telling in the BoTW world already. The cut scenes are just a portion of it. Do you want more cut scenes? Do you want more plot twists? More intrigue? I just don't understand. That whole world is FULL OF STORY. Anyway, I hope the new game is what you're looking for. Thanks again for all the great videos, Bill! And sorry for the wall of text.
Awesome idea for a story recap! I was wondering if you plan on doing a playthrough before TOTK comes out? If you have the time a livestream weekly would be really cool. And also is your original first ever playthrough on the channel?
@Good Old Days Gaming gotcha, I was wondering if that was something you removed or what was up. Well I'm gonna rewatch your master mode playthrough again regardless but I know myself and others would be stoked for a "fresh" playthrough of BOTW. Other than games I hope stuff is going good man! Cheers
I played breath of the wild and only did about 70-80% of the story. Should i be ok playin tears of the kingdom or should i play breath of the wild again??
You have forgotten 2 key Elements to the story the diaries of zelda and the king These are a must find and read to understand everything about the game
Not your fault: you didn't write the damn game, but the reason why I find it so atrociously boring is because there IS no story. You have to dig hard, and even then, you only get scraps.

Great recap, Bill! Getting so pumped for TOTK content 💚

Perfect recap
I’ve been waiting for someone to make this video! Thank you this is exactly what I needed

Exactly what I was looking for!

Nice, enjoyed this
Awesome! Please do more story recaps! Maybe one of all Metroid games?

I just might do another playthrough, but it depends. My master mode let's play is here, but I never recorded my first ever playthrough.

BOTW's ending is a bit weak, but as an overarching story about coming back after total failure, it shines.
I played breath of the wild and only did about 70-80% of the story. Should i be ok playin tears of the kingdom or should i play breath of the wild again??
You should be ok. Just watch the ending online.
@@theorangecandle thanks
Big if true
I enjoyed Breath of the Wild but it's been some time since I've played it. I thought maybe I forgot a lot of the story but no it was just that vague.
You have forgotten 2 key Elements to the story the diaries of zelda and the king These are a must find and read to understand everything about the game
Age of calamity has the best zelda story, unfortunately the gameplay is lacking but, botw was so story disappointing that I'd say aoc makes up for it.
Not your fault: you didn't write the damn game, but the reason why I find it so atrociously boring is because there IS no story. You have to dig hard, and even then, you only get scraps.
i love all your fucking annoying asides
Haha...haha...haha...haha...haaaaaaaaaaaaaa...
Story.
