I have 34 pens inked at all times. They all have a different ink color and I rotate through them either in my daily diary of events, in my daily journal, in one of my commonplace books, or a pen pal letter. I also write biblical commentaries in a B6 sized notebook for each book of the New Testament. Thanks for my Thursday morning FP fix. Keep up the good work and dad jokes.
19 inked pens at this moment. That is WAY more than I thought! Guess there is pen cleaning on the horizon for me this weekend. :) Nice haircut Lisa!
I have 18 inked at the moment. Fewer than I thought. Thanks!
13 and I do rotate my pens and ink. So fun.
Thanks for the fun show. You always remind me that the weekend is almost here.
I have nine pens actively inked, and keep them with me. For some reason I like to have different colors and/or nibs available. I like to keep my options open.
14 inked pens, 8 actually in daily use, all different colors.
Seven pens inked. (two of them waiting to be cleaned).
I have 12 inked!!! Way more than I thought. I try not to have too many inked as that’s a lot to clean.
I would guess that I have 60 pens inked right now. I just did a major cleaning earlier in the week, so if those would have been counted, close to 100.
6-0 pens inked? wow!!
Currently inked only 23, thought it would be more, but I just did a big wash out session 😊
I have around 100 pens inked and stored.
I keep trying to get down to 6 inked pens, but today I counted 11.(sigh) I usually write at least 2 letters a week, but guess I'll have to think of more ways to use ink up. I can't wait to meet everyone at Anderson Pens in person in September.
I have around 100 pens inked (3 pages in my oasis profolio B5 notebook)
I like to try all of the inks. And I also make sure to cycle through them when setting up/using my Bullet Journal
I have these handy little dropper bottles with distilled water at every desk for the ones that dry up in the nib. Works great!
I keep all of my collection pens inked, always. I'm watching while making dinner, but I think its about 30 pens.
I don't think I've heard a more brutal reply to a pun than "That's cute". Savage.
I always have 12 pens inked, I rotate them when empty, I have 2 waiting to be cleaned. I usually don’t clean until I have 4 to clean.
12 pens inked, including 3 preppys and 2 carbon ink platinum pens as well as pricier ones. Always inked, Magna Carta with a wonderful flex nib.
I currently have three pens inked, because I just cleaned seven pens this week! One pen has a permanent ink for calendars and documents, the others are more fun. Sometimes I get carried away with trying new inks, then after using them for a couple of letters I move on to another ink, leaving pens in the pen pot for a few weeks. Thanks for another fun show.
Nice haircut, Lisa!!! At this moment, I have 43 fountain pens inked up. I can't help myself. I keep a journal, and I like to use a different pen each time I sit to write...sometimes 3 in a day. Included are 3 or 4 pens inked in my purse, as well as some Preppys on my desk. I absolutely love my fountain pens!!! And, by the way, each pen has a different ink in it. No duplicates. Great show!
I have soooo many inked it's ridiculous probably 50 or more. I have cleaned some though but I need to get better at it.
I have six pens currently inked, I think. That is half of my small collection. Thanks for another entertaining episode.
Great show and updates. Thanks to everyone behind the scenes that help Brian and Lisa as the on air APTV anchors.
13 if I don’t count my ink tester pens (pilot 78g+) if I include those the number rapidly hits 75 total inked at the moment.
I have four fountain pens currently inked. I thought that was a lot until I read some of the other comments! They are a Diplomat Magnum, a TWSBI Vac 700 with a stub nib for nice lettering, a TWSBI Eco for journaling, and a LAMY Vista that I take to work everyday. They are all inked with Platinum Carbon Black and I use the ink and a few of the pens when I'm sketching and making drawings. Thank you so much!
Hi Lisa and Brian! Another Thursday night…and I am thinking about waffles! 🥓🧇 I have about thirty fountain pens inked-the usual suspects. Lisa, if you want to journal, but not invest a lot of time, don’t. Instead, try just writing down what comes to mind, and don’t try to string sentences together. If another thought crowds the last out, start a new line (for a new thought). After 2 to 5 minutes, pen and paper down and go do something else-unless you want to write more, but don’t feel obligated. At the end of the week (or whenever you have the time), go back and look at what you have, and if you’re so inclined, organize your initial stream of consciousness into a few sentences or a paragraph or two, or not. But at any time it feels like work, move on to something else. Just a thought.
I remember my parents having the fountain pens with a “lever” to fill the pen.
All but 2 I have in current use are lever fillers. 3 J series Esterbrook and a 1920s Sheaffer's. 😁
Hello and thanks you. Currently I have ten pens inked.
Like Brian, there are probably at least 150 pens that are inked (especially if I have to count the ones that are dried up). I know, it’s a bad practice. I keep promising myself to become more disciplined.
9. 6 that I carry in my bag for journaling 1 in my pocket organizer and 2 I need to clean.
I have 3 inked. If I want a change, I will cycle one out and clean it before I move on.
As always, great program. I have 4 inked pens, although I always try to have at least 3. Usually in shades of black, blue, red and an optional color, just in case.
Great episode! Eric can answer this weeks contest for me. I want more, I just can't figure out what I want next. Have a great week!
I have 8 pens currently inked. They are different nibs and ink colors. I rotate them out, using a different one each day. Great way to use all if my inks and keep my writing and ideas fresh.
I have six inked. I usually keep it at 5 to fit in my wood pen tray but went over trying a new ink sample I just got recently.
I aspire to have 6 pens inked at a time, because I have a six-pen case....somehow, however, an additional 6 pens INKED THEMSELVES UP when I wasn't in the room and they are living next to the pen case....I may need to install surveillance cameras at my desk. 🤔
Could be elves . . . .
I keep my inked pens to less than 5. Self discipline!
12 inked or ready to clean. This is not counting 11 of the Pilot Varsity ilk, that I plan to give away.
Currently I have 7 pens inked, one freshly inked that I bought at the DC Pen Show. Several currently inked pens have special nibs for fun and one pen is a work horse “cheaper” pen. I am about to ink 2 more pens that I bought at the DC Pen Show. I try to rotate through my inked pens so that the ink doesn’t dry up. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn’t! Lisa, take 15 minutes a day to write a few lines in a journal. That’s all it takes to start. And, don’t feel the pressure to write every day. It’s OK to skip a few days or a few weeks. Just write when the mood moves you and only as much as you want. See you next week!
Thanks for my Thursday morning pick me up! I can't really tell you how many of my pens are inked, or Crystal might see that my clandestine pen purchasing is indeed, ongoing 🤣 All of my pens are inked.
Lisa, where does your Mom find that wonderful fabric? I want to sew some quilted pen rolls for the Pelikan meet-up in September! I have 19 currently-inked pens plus 5 TWSBIs (I count them separately because they hold so much ink, it's hard to empty them)! I usually try to keep it to 10, but I recently acquired some new pens, and I always ink up new pens upon receipt! I have a "formula" for selecting pens to ink up: I always have at least one inexpensive pen (under $25) plus one expensive pen (over $200), and then one of each brand where I own more than 10 of that brand (Parker, Karas, Kaweco), and the rest are wildcards, but I try to select those from different countries of origin (Italy, Germany, Japan, Small Maker USA, etc.) This helps me rotate through my collection!
I believe I have about 16 pens inked right now, oops - make that 21. How did all that happen? Starting to think that it must be a hobby loosely associated with OCD, sometimes caused by a deep love for mexican food or italian fare. Love the work that Doris does - the tissue holder is cute beyond measure.
I’ve 5 (of about 60) fountain pens currently inked - Pelikan M200, Pilot VP, Sheaffer 100, Twsbi Mini Rose gold and Sailor Progear Slim Mini.
All the other pens are not cleaned and waiting to be picked up for rotation.
Good morning! Happy National Tooth Fairy Day! (August 22)
Q: What is the tooth fairy’s favorite Christmas song?
A: All I want for Christmas is your two front teeth.
Currently I have 6 pens inked and in use. Kinda of course, a gray Esterbrook J with Waterman Serenity Blue, a green Esterbrook J with KWZ Spruce Green, an Esterbrook SJ in red with Sheaffer Skrip Red, and a 1920s black Sheaffer's with KWZ Cappuccino. Then a Parker 21 in gray with Waterman Mysterious Blue, and still an early 1970s Platinum pocket pen with Platinum Carbon Black. About to switch that for a black Esterbrook J and Noodler's Heart of Darkness. 😉
Any news about Sheaffer Skrip Red yet?
Another great episode, folks!
Nice show as always! 3 pens inked and I try not to fully ink any of them. I like to switch the inks as well as the pens and that allows me to speed up the rotation. I track pen usage on a spreadsheet which allows me to put the pens in a usage proper rotation. As you already know, pens need love as well and I would hate to neglect any of them.
Yikes! I have 10 inked currently and all but 3 are with a brown ink, as I have been deep diving into browns~ perhaps I'm ready for Fall. I see a lot of cleaning ahead.
Two pens currently inked (none waiting to be cleaned). But I’m thinking of inking a third just to add a third color to the rotation.
Currently inked fountain pens: 11.
LOL She knows me so well lol I have 18 pens and a roller ball perfume applicator filled with ink :)
8 pens inked currently.
I love counting games! I have 24 pens inked at the moment, and that's a pretty typical number for me. Remarkably, one of these pens has been inked since the Anderson Pens Pen Party in July, 2023! It has Waterman Absolute Brown in it (courtesy of Linda Kennedy when she did a custom grind for me). It's the last I have of that ink and I can't bear to drain the pen.
Three pens inked at anyone time. Only 3
I have 8 out of 113 inked right now, but other times it’s 10-12. I try to rotate though the inked pens, but also have two fine nibs for notes that get used all the time.
I currently only have eight inked!
Ok... Who else knew that Brian was a waffle nerd? I had no idea :)
I have 3 pens inked and in use, 5 if you count my wife's that I keep inked and working for her. I have two for work (Lamy Safaris) and one by my chair (Ensso Bolt). Both my of my Wife's are Lamy Safaris (one dedicated for work and the other is her home pen). I enjoy the show every Thursday.
How many inked pens do I have? ALL OF THEM. I ink everything. I carry 10-15 pens with me all the time because I'm a woman who must have choices!!
At one point from January till May I had 24 inked pens and how I got to that many was mind boggling! I am now back to only 3 inked pens plus a bonus pen that has my noodler’s Blue Ghost perpetually ever ready to go!
Wow! I thought I had a lot of pens inked, but my fellow viewers/commenters have me beat. (Brian is in a league of his own...) I have eleven inked pens, with five that need to be cleaned; like Lisa, they all fit in my pen case beautifully, and I know they're protected.
Thanks for another great episode!
I have 5 currently inked. One is my regular pen I use most. 3 are pens I've been working on and are inked up to see if they do work correctly. The ink in the last one is dying and the pen needs to be cleaned.
If I ever need a fancy pen ✒🖋, I will order it from your company....I promise. For now the pens at Walmart will do.
19 currently inked (yeah, I know.) Plus 3 cheap Chinese pens I let dry out after using them for a bit. I have a system for not letting them dry out though. Each day as a warm-up before I write or transcribe, I copy out a word definition from the dictionary using each pen in rotation. Usually that's enough to keep them flowing. Occasionally one needs a dip in water but that seems to do the trick.
Currently at 7 (two work pens, two special effect ink pens for personal letter writing, one ink tester, one journaling pen, and one newish pen for Japanese penmanship practice).
Why are some pens worse at keeping ink from evaporating? My platinums preppys are super, but my Safari and Diplomat Magnum are terrible. No issues with Ink evaporation in TWSBIs either.
I was all smug when this question was aske on the podcast--smug because I've been getting better at keeps to a reasonable number.... so I thought... I thought I had five pens inked, then I remembered the work Kawecos, oh, yeah, then the Kakunos, oooh, and that new pen I just got... and did I really have that Pro Gear inked up since April? And it still writes? COOOOOL. Good seal on that one.
Yeah, I have a lucky 13 pens inked up. I also don't know why I was smug about a small number of pens inked up. If it gives me joy, why shouldn't I have eleventy-three pens inked up at any given time? Cleaning them is future me's problem, not righ-now me.
So disappointed Cross does not make good fountain pens anymore
Currently I have 13 inked and I hate to waste ink. I feel like I have to run every pen dry. Because of that I usually only have 5 inked at a time but I've bought too many pens recently. One of which is a red Esterbrook J. That was my 2nd, already bought a 3rd to restore. I think I'm addicted. The 1st step is admitting you have a problem, right?
How many inked pens? I have 12 inked pens, kept in my drawer, ready to use
