- We were told this was one of the sickest beats ever produced by DJ Premiere, we had to see for ourselves. Also, the bars don't miss Jeru's laid-back flow.
Also, World Trade Center did go down in 2001 from the planes, but it was also bombed in 1993. Terrorists parked a rental truck with explosives and blew it up. That's why Biggie also used the line, "Blow up like the World Trade" in his song Juicy
Word a lot of peeps never knew about that attack in 1993.
Notorious B1 - Big daddy thank me later
Wasn't that the World Trade Center bombing in Oklahoma City in 93? It always tripped me out how they have multiple world trade centers, you think there would only be one from the name.
The Oklahoma City Bombing of the Alfred. P. Murrah Building happened in 1995. Unless there's another one I don't know about. I remember having a moment of silence in school for the victims.
@@joeyrogers7017 Oh wow, then I definitely will look up the 1993 attempt, I wasn't aware of that.
You needed to hear this song getting blasted out a radio in the tunnels of NYC subways. The way it bounced off the tiles was crazy!
The ENTIRE album is legendary! #Top5
i love the 1:38, butttt
Faaaacts
This is the early 90s.When anti-gangsta rap was harder than gangsta rap.
Hell yeah cause niggas were getting robbed to this song lol
Jeru smooth as hell and very intelligent. "Can't Stop the Prophet" is another classic and a dope story telling
Jeru killed this track...."real rough and rugged shine like a golden nugget... everytime I pick up the microphone I drug it"...
Real lyricism. Most of the current garbage cant hold up to this.
88 was the best year in hip hop, but the early 90s introduced the most complex lyrics in hip hop
For more Jeru, here are some bangers. "Black Cowboy", "D' Original", "Ain't the Devil Happy", "Physical Stamina", "I'm The Man", "Speak your clout",
"Da Bitches", " My Mind Spray", "Jungle Music" , "Return of the Crooklyn Dodgers", "1,2 Pass it", "You can't stop the Prophet", "Invasion", "Revenge of the Prophet".
These songs are fire beats with KRS level knowledge, which made many people call him, "The Scientist"
You seriously know what is up with jeru the damaja down with the gangster foundation,,,,the sun raises in the east album is a pure and true hip hop classic real talk
Fun fact ‼️ Run Run Shaw did all the Wutang Shaolin karate flicks that Wu-Tang is modeled after
This song was basically an attack on gangsta rap. A lot of cats from the West Coast saw this as a low key diss, especially how hard he repped the East in this. Even the video shows his crew going after a gangbanger dude. Also, this beat and most of the album was produced by the great DJ Premier.
A lot of us saw what was coming with the take over of gangsta rap. Jeru was one of the only ones to publically take a stand and I’ll always respect him for that. Fast forward 30 years later and hip hop is a wasteland where kids worship actual serial killers and destroyers of the black community.
Hatin don’t worry about the next man the west coast is about gang culture that’s why the music had that vibe just like Chicago now if you not from there then you wouldn’t understand not to mention west coast was dominating at that time
He was talking bout East New York
Y'all need to do Artifacts "Wrong Side of Da Tracks" - They outta New Jersey. One of the members just passed away. RIP Tame One 🙏🏾
My Mind Spray
MF DOOM!! But I don’t think you guys are ready for him yet. Love your reactions.
Can't stop the prophet video will absolutely pique your creative interest. The Pete Rock remix for it is even doper but the song is one of the most creative in history 💯. DJ Premier did the whole first album and the beats are super abstract and creative. You'll love it!!
You guys would definitely love his Song & video "ya playing yourself " the video was nominated for video of the year because of the cinematography
Jeru is that dude. Underated!! 90's Hip Hop.
It's good seeing the youngsters gain exposure to the rawest period in Hip-Hop.
Thank you for listening in one take! 🙏🏼
this is a raw track. jeru's flow is very nice
I got another one for yah, channel live the song MADIZM !! NYC !! 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷💪
FASHO
Jeru the damaja his first two albums the sun rises in the East straight fire the lyrics on point the conscious stuff is on point and the Beats is on point and Primo did the beats on the first two albums album one of my favorite songs our invasion and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and the whole two albums is all good fire you will not be disappointed
Jeru debut album The Sun Raises In The East has the Twin Towers on fire 7 years before the 9/11 attacks but this is one of DJ Premier's most popular beats nobody never heard nothing like this before back then of the dripping water it sounds like Chinese Water Torture.
They tried to knock them down in 92 when thew blew up a truck bomb in the parking garage.
@@roboakley3447 I know I'm from Brooklyn I was 16 years old when that happened I remember it knocked out all the channels except channel 2
Woooow. I was 14 when this came out and a true knucklehead. 2001 I was in the military 😂😂 Damn this gave me a flashback of that 7 year timespan in my life. Jailtime in high-schoo, stabbed not long after in Atlanta, and arrested in different cities. Then basic training and 9/11. Damn....
The World Trade Center was blown up twice 😂
Yeah
@@darksharxz I think it was a year or 2 before this song came out.
1993
Yeah some dudes tried to blow it up years before
😅
"Fly like a jet, sting like a hornet, knuckleheads get live and set it off it you want it"
- Jeru Da Damaja
WELCOME TO HIPHOP DAMMIT ‼️💯 #HIPHOP50 ‼️👊🏾
Now u GOTTA do Jeru DANGER ‼️
(Ice Cube-Summer Vacation ) Great storytelling song
The golden era is 88. That's younger than the ones from the beginning talk. Our lil brothers and sisters. 94 is made up later. That term was already stamped in 88 when the styles elevated for us to eat today because all those 94 Emcee's were fans of the 88 Emcee's like the one in the sample on this song KRS ONE. .
Dude that’s Dj Premier the legend himself Jeru came up under Guru one of the God Mc’s of the late 80’s and early 90’s. He was brought into the scene by the way of Gang Starr. Gang Starr is legit golden age hip hop
I think 95 was right up there or higher. Big L’s album, Pun featured for the first time on watch out with Fat Joe, Eminem dropped biterphobia which was his first crazy lyrical song. At that point, we already had greats like the Wu, Nas, Pac, Biggie, amongst others.
Jeru - History 101
That beat is cold
It sure is!!!
Let's clarify something: When he says: When the rest is in the house you should come equipped.
It's not a reference to the East Coast. He's talking about where he's from. A section of Brooklyn, New York called East New York.
Yah need to react to Kool Moe Dee the greatest mc of all time, the song I go to work, top mcs after him Mellie Mell, the microphone wizard DLB, Prince Whipper Whip, the devastating TIito, RAKIM, Big Daddy Kane, BIG PUN, Spoonie GEE, and greatest female mc SHAROCK, HARLEM NYC !!! 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷💪
Dope observation about Jeru being a Rasta. He said “ask my Pops, it’s genetic- that’s why I’m a weed head and not an alcoholic.” The Fugees made Rasta rap too
Broken Language; Smooth Da Hustler, Trigga da Gambler (brothers); Circa 1995. Beat is banging but the word play between the brothers was top notch.
Jeru was gifted lyrically. Dirty Rotten Scandals was his best !
Still is!
Just discovered your channel and really enjoy your reactions and critiques. You guys should do 'Electric relaxation' by A tribe called quest, 'Time's Up' by OC & "The choice is yours' by Black Sheep.

They drove a truck full of explosives in the under ground parking lot of the world trade and detonated it but it only damage the basement in like '93.

Back in the early 90s terrorists parked a van in the garage of 1 of the WTC and blew it up trying to bring it down but they failed.
Y’all should react to Boogie Down Productions, KRS 1 “My Philosophy” from 1988…. and how when he says “alotta suckas wit colorful names”…. rings true today.

His sicc faster songs are Ya Played Yaself and Can't Stop The Prophet. Jerus flow was super tight.

The World Trade Center line he meant was from when they try to bomb it in 1993
Trade center was hit with a truck bomb in the garage in 93
Jeru Damaja song original he raps pretty first on that song and the beat is crazy
Jeru back in the day said "the original dont sing no RNB" (track called Dirty rotten scoundrals) Today one of the biggest in mainstream be singing and not even writing they lyrics...

Check out D.Original by Jeru Da Damaja. That's my favorite by him. DJ Premiere did these tracks.
1. Jeru Da Damaja/ Ain't the Devil Happy
2. Jeru/ Mental Stamina ( a faster beat)
3. M.C. Shan/ The Bridge
Have you guys dived into big pun?
world trade center was b@mbed once b4 9/11 in early 90's or late 80's. Parking garage & lower levels were heavily damaged
Have you ever heard of Treacherous Three Rap Language?
when the east is in the house you should come equipped
the beat mimics dripping water, or chinese water t@rture technique
2001 was the second time Osama went for the world trade center. The first time was in 1993 when a bomb went off in it.
This was during the time when the East Coast and West Coast war was going on.
