You can do the same in Vietnam too, only problem is the long term visa, which in Cambodia is simple to do! I’ve been to Cambodia a number of times, it’s ok, you should try Bali, it’s good value too and a lot more interesting culture imo! Still Thailand for me, been living in Jomtien/Pratumnak well over 3 years, better overall lifestyle, it’s easy to travel to other countries. I’ve been to Laos, Philippines, Bali, Nepal, India, Turkey while keeping my base in Thailand, can’t beat the advantage of living near Bangkok for the ease of travelling! In two weeks I’am visiting family in the U.K. and Greece, most flights are cheaper from Bangkok, which is 143baht on the bus, Jomtien to Suvarnabhumi Airport!

The comparison here in this video is so accurate for Siem Reap . It is certainly from what I've experienced the best value in South East Asia . If we were to compare the two capital cities however , then Bangkok would probably be better value than Phnom Penh . Siem Reap is a good base for an extended stay with an international airport if the occasional trip to neighboring countries is necessary.

I'm very excited to do my own comparison, I'm a real foodie. I plan to get to Siam Reap sometime in late June or early July. I hope we can meet up for tacos and beer. Coming from California, I know what good tacos taste like.
For those who don't know, there are a significant number of American Cambodians that were deported from the US. The biggest Khmer population outside Cambodia is in Long Beach, CA. Cambodia town is mixed with the Mexicans and Blacks communities. These American Khmer were raised on good tacos.
Majority of Cambodia's population are called Khmers, I understand that they prefer to be called Khmer but they take no offense to the term Cambodians.
I hope to meet up with you on my latest adventure. I've been to Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. I am working on getting to all the countries of ASEAN (Association of South East Nations).

Yeah all fine and good until you decide to rent a place longer term, and your power bill is ridiculous using aircon if you go over 50 KWH/month, I believe Cambodia has one of the most expensive rate per KWH in the world. Short term stays, yeah, Id say Cambodia would be cheaper than the most expensive place in Thailand in Phuket IF your renting a room that pays for your power, or not for a few days, but anything over a month...I dont think so for the rest of Thailand. Places like Hua Hin, Cha-am, Chiang Mai, Jomtien, etc would likely still be farrrr cheaper if I were to guess, I guess we will have to await your longer term stay vids.
