    I highly recommend to just keep them in sleepers or a swaddle and hat while in the hospital. Then a going home outfit/announcement picture outfit because the nurses are constantly in and out unzipping them to get vitals so something practical.

    What a difference from 1996 to 2024. Back then all I had to bring was a carseat, baby outfit and my clothes to wear home. We did not have to do all that everyone is doing now. I guarantee that you will not need 90% of what you are packing. But I understand that youtube videos make you do all these NOT needed items. But enjoy getting ready. You both will be wonderful parents. Enjoy every second of it. You both are a beautiful couple and your baby will be adorable. God Bless you both and your baby boy.❤❤❤

      They don't have to do it either. The hospital provides everything and it's actually quite nice. But it's a first baby and everyone has told her their preference, she's so sweet and accommodating. She'll need it all when she comes home anyway, the hospital supplies run out long before you're finished with them. Everything handed out in the 90s is still handed out today.

    If l may speak on embarrassing topics, be sure Tiffany, to bring your own feminine protection pads to wear after the birth. You'll bleed for a while afterwards. The hospital will provide them for you, but they're often wierd pads or not what you'd pick out; not very comfortable. I sure was glad to have the ones from the store that l liked better after having my daughter.

    I only packed 1 outfit. Had 3 babies, 40+ yrs ago. The hospital provides everything including the hat for the baby. An outfit for me, toiletries. Less is more. Remember you have to take it all out to the car when you go home including the gifts. Remember now a days you only stay 24hrs or less now. I chose to wear the hospital gowns. Honestly no one is looking at you. Its all about the baby to everyone. Good luck!!!

    • @laurie6332
      @laurie6332 2 месяца назад +3

      This is true. If a normal uncomplicated birth most insurance companies give 24 hours from the time of birth. I think that is too fast. Sometimes mom's need to learn to breast feed. Or baby needs to learn to breastfeed. Insurance companies do not care. If you have a baby at 7am, you will be going home the very next morning if everything is A-OK. You might want to call your insurance company and ask what their normal time allowed is, and under what circumstances would an extra day be considered "medically necessary". I have seen families get caught with balances they didn't expect because insurance definition of "medically necessary" was different than what the hospital felt the definition was.

      @@laurie6332this always makes me sad. We do not have to pay to have babies where I'm from. It's all covered by our Medicare system. I've seen others comment how much it has cost them and I'm stunned. The only time you go home here within a 24 hour period is if it was a completely normal birth, you're doing okay, and it's your second plus child. I can't imagine the financial stress it must give people worrying about how much it's going to cost. I saw another woman comment that she refused pain meds because she didn't want the added expense on her insurance. It made me feel so terrible for her 😢😢😢

    • @lydm3398
      @lydm3398 2 месяца назад +2

      @@laurie6332 Yes exactly! All true for me. I was lucky the baby latching was quick, so 24hours, then out. But moms with any difficulties should stay longer for sure. Following up with insurance guidlines prior is a great idea. Really it's all about the beds to fill to a hospital, sadly. Wishing all goes normal for Tiff as 1st time mom.

    Hospital gowns have snaps on the sleeves so you can just unsnap a sleeve and pull it down to nurse. And they’re not itchy, but they can smell funky depending on what laundry soap the hospital uses and how many times the gown has been used.

    Take the onesies & take 2 sizes. You want the clothes to be soft & comfortable on your son!! Definitely need hats to go with whatever outfits you take. The biggest part of babies is their head & they lose more heat from their head than their body. Remember noti to overdress him! If you're comfortable in a t-shirt & shorts, he'll be comfortable in a onesie or gown with a hat. If you keep your house on the cooler side, you should swaddle him & definitely @ night! Most of it is common sense, but I live in FL & have seen moms with newborns out on a 96⁰ day, heat index 110⁰ with the baby swaddled in a thick blanket, hat on, a quilt over the baby in the stroller & the baby's screaming constantly. Having been an an RN for 41 yrs, the last 25 were on a large OB unit with a NICU. I politely went over over to her & asked how old the baby was. She said 3 wks, so I told her I thought he was screaming because he was too hot 🔥 I explained to her what I said above about dressing baby & she took everything off except a onesie & hat & he stopped crying right away 😢

    1st baby....you walk into hospital with all that you two have packed. 2nd baby, you walk in holding hands and maybe a duffle bag. First time though, it truly is so exciting. Tiffany is so calm, maybe nervous, but still quite calm. Lawson, whew, you need to breathe! A baby comes into the world in their own time, he/she does not care about anything but being held and fed. God's got this! Baby Bates is going to be adorable. Prayerfully Tiffany's labor and delivery easy and quick, and before you know it you will be back in your home with a new little one that will sweep you off your feet with a heart full of a love neither of you have ever felt in your life. There is a special corner in our hearts for "love of a child". It is inexplicable, but once you feel it you will realize just how much parents love their child(ren). It truly is a love that cannot be explained, and a love you have never felt. Loving your children is life long and when your heart explodes with your love of him, you will know it. Prayers that everything goes smoothly and quickly. This is the beginning of a brand new Chapter in your life, enjoy it all because kids grow up very fast. Can't wait to see him!

    2000% YES TO A NOISE MACHINE!!! I swear it's most of the reason why my babies slept so good. Baby is surrounded by a "sssshhhh" noise right now in the womb so it mimmics that sound. Do it!

    • @laurie6332
      @laurie6332 2 месяца назад +1

      Sometimes it is hard to break them from needing it though. The best way to get a baby to be a good sleeper is to NOT be quiet in the house. Go about your daily chores, vacuum under the crib, do everything you normally do and keep the bassinet right in the room you are in. You end up with babies, and even older kids, who can sleep through anything. Making it quiet and everyone whispering, or even using a sound machine sets up their nervous system to need that kind of environment. It's much easier to train them right from "go" to sleep anywhere, under any noise condition. They have been hearing the world noises for 9 months anyway, so instead of just that one noise from a noise machine, make them get used to whole house life noises.

    The blue gown with strpes is the perfect outfit. It is easy to see toes for pictues, and easy to change diaper, and they typically have the little mittens built in to cover their little hands so they don't scratch themselves. One piece on a newborn is better than a shirt and pants. Even bigger babies are smaller than you think, they've been scrunched up for 9 months, it takes a several weeks for them to stretch out, hence the "newborn scrunch", which is the cutest thing ever.

    I'm trying to decide who's the most excited. I think I'm going with Lawson. I'm from Texas and I've always talked really fast. You guys both have me beat. You're both going to be the best parents ever! What a lucky little boy. You both have amazing families. So many people waiting to love your sweet little guy! I can't wait to see pics

    I am an over packer, and I can totally appreciate the thought process behind it. I say, if it settles your nerves to try to cover all bases, then go for it! Baby time! 🧸

    Please note anything “provided” you pay for and it’s outrageous what you will be charged. Depending on your hospital it may be worse than others.
    For instance I heard one mother explain she brought her own diapers (they were made from healthy products) so they changed the baby everytime. However when the baby came out they put the baby in a diaper without their knowledge. For one diaper they were charged for an entire pack of diapers due to hospital policy.
    Stool softener for instance is cheap over the counter, but the hospital will charge a crazy amount for each one.
    Know the policies, how they charge, and what is covered under your price/coverage at your hospital/with your insurance.

    It's getting closer!
    Hospital bag for baby: onesies and swaddles for every day, cute outfit for pictures and a going home outfit (I vote for the gray 2 piece!) that the carseat buckle fits between his legs.
    Tiffany pretty much did great for mom's hospital bag, just add warm socks. My feet were always freezing. Also, Tiffany, if they tell you not to eat, please don't. There's a very good reason, as i learned the hard way when I had to have an emergency c-section and threw up because I had eaten after they told me not to anymore.
    Lawson's was good for dad's hospital bag, but don't forget snacks for dad to eat so he doesn't have to leave the room to go get food.
    Lawson, put your whole weight on the carseat base and tighten the straps; most people don't realize that just tightening them with the weight of the base is not safe.
    Excited for your little guy's arrival! ❤

      Throwing up happens whether you eat or not. They just don't want you possibly choking on vomit.

    My son is 17 a changing table was on top of a dresser and I had some drawers. I had the diapers, the wipes, powder on top of the dresser on a part that you could put that stuff. I didn’t have a cart or any of this fancy stuff. Basically do whatever you need to do to make it easier for you.

    The cart will be useful for depending as you go thru the house. Your changing pad if removable you can use in living room. Also manly swaddle and hat is best and sleep sacks will be your friend. On outfits 6 and 4. On your cart if nursing add some of your supplies on there . Your outfits home. What comfortable is all that matters. Your own gown you will enjoy. Praying and God bless.

    Just so you know. Hospitals have little fans if you just ask for one. When you get discharged and go home, you can take it with you.😉
    I personally wouldn't bring any ice packs or a heating pad since the hospital does provide them.
    Chapstick and a little bottle of lotion would be good. Also, don't forget socks to wear while in bed. Hospitals are cold, and my feet were always freezing.
