Refreshingly fun and imaginative video for a museum and I'm so pleased this novel approach to an exhibition is being taken. I'm really looking forward to seeing it and having some preconceptions challenged.
I'm in love with this channel. All the curators are enthusiastic about their jobs...it must be fantastic to work as a curator at the British Museum. Also, it is a good initiative to put the people that make the museum in front of us along with the collection, so we can see the objects and love the people.
It's like sitting at your Room, with all the statues that belong to the Acropolis museum and someone says 'I don't think this is taken from Greece..? '. And you're going - still - ' we are protecting it ' .....
Perhaps dissent is human nature as Ian Hislop suggests. Or perhaps *democracy* is human nature, and dissent is simply the best we can do while under the thumb of profit-worshipping tyrants. Perhaps one of these days The People will come to their senses and set fire to the kings, queens, bankers and generals, and when greed is treated like other forms of cancer we'll see how much dissent remains.
Hislop's old-school journalism must terrify today's namby-pamby 'media experts' brought up on reality TV, Twitter accounts and idiotic internet forums. He's a terrier with a mad glint in his eye. He's also thoughtful, cynical, and relentlessly inquisitive; three things guaranteed to make people nervous. Private Eye [the satirical magazine of which he's the Editor] would be banned in some countries; Hislop's sued almost fortnightly, but what doesn't kill him just seems to make him even more spiky. I wonder what Tronald Dump thinks of him...
Can you guys return all the objects not native to the UK and artifacts that don't belong to you or your culture ? or are they replicas and you guys have already return them ?
As awful as stealing ancient artefacts is, we are fortunate to have them in various musea, now that ISIS has tried very hard to destroy whatever was left, because it somehow offended them.
Hans Akkerman Are you referring to the ISIS that was elevated to power by imperialist western powers like the UK? Or are you referring to another group? "Thank Zeus we saved these things before we blew up the rest." "Right-O. Tea, then?"
It's somewhat ironic that an upper-middle-class, privately educated, pillar of the privileged media establishment, gets to masquerade as the edgy rebel for the British Museum.
Mr Hislop is as much a national treasure as any object in the British Museum, splendid video.
Eryk Freethinker .... national trinket ?
That award goes to certain other persons in public life Terry - the trinket one cannot decide whether to send to a charity shop!
Ian Hislop, what a wonderful dinner guest he would make. Witty and fascinating video. Thank you. :o)

What's with the tassel?
Wasn’t this guy in Dr Who? Lol
Come to the point!!
He looks a lot like Toby Jones. I did a double take, lol
I am not use to seeing Ian so close up
I deeply enjoy Ian. He's brilliant and well spoken...but did you look in a mirror before you shot this?
When will you return the stolen objects?

Why is Ian morphing into Jeremy Clarkson?
If he's wearing jeans with that jacket, it's a done deal.

No. Sorry, the law does not allow it. British Museum Act 1963.
Peter Davy you're fucking kidding me, seriously?
