  • Today we are exploring the Maligne Lake area in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. We chose a trail which is often closed due to bear activity 😬 It was open, but we had our bear spray ready all day! We chose this trail for breathtaking views so let's check them out 😉

First thing first I need to tell you the following: guys you have nothing to envy anyone respect to the images that you offer us in each of your videos. I don't know if they are technically perfect but those images reflect the truth. You are true. You don't draw us a reality that doesn't exist.
I really appreciate that transparency and honesty that you give us every Thursday, many times, surely, sacrificing your own interests.
In times when short-termism is a goal you even dedicate time to your suscribers and that make you the special ones.
I value excellence but I want you to know that beyond the perfect balance between light and shadow, the "organic" in pictures, we also value other details that make up the whole.
Kisses, hugs and lucky that the bears didn't eat you in that natural wonder. At least for now. Let's pray.

Oh guys I almost wet myself at the start of your video. Trying out the bear spray. When Tommy said we got the spray in our noses and eyes.
I have know idea who design the spraying system on those can. But I never heard anybody say oh it works great everyone always gets a little on themselves. Even I had the pepper spray come back on me. When I tried it out. Think that was why I found it so funny. When you got sprayed to.
What a great hike you guys did. Sorry you got so disappointed with the scenery. You just had not gone far enough. Then once you got to the alpine part, you saw the lake. It was ashame the weather was not sunnier for you. I bet you would of liked it even more.

It's so funny with the bear spray! I guess you need to be really experienced to know how to use it properly, but I can't imagine taking too much time to see if the spray can is facing the right way and where the wind blows when there's a bear in front of you all of a sudden.

omg, you had to be scared i guess when you saw a bear even from a car. i stumbeled once on bear (mrki medvjed) when i was hiking/camping on velebeit mountain with some friends, whole mountain is filled with them, wolves too, but usualy people dont see them, coz majority of people goes to daily hikes, we spent few nights. they usualy dont attack, unless it is breeding season, or have young or you provoce them ( i am talking about mrki bear, not canadian grizlies lol, have no clue about those and their behaviour), it was near sunset and i needed to pee so i went to pee, was doing my busniess and turned while still peeing and there was mama bear with 2 cubs looking directly at me.. i dont know how in that moment i did not do number 2 instantly. she did not move her eyes off me, i was afraid to move, to make noise, anything coz she had 2 cubs with her, she could think i am threat, she was staring for some time, i was staring at her, forgot i done peeing, i am there standing, waiting for her to or jump on me or leave.. eventually she turned and started to leave, but one of the cubs did not want to go and went into my direction, if i move towards cub she for sure will charge into me, so i decided to go opposite direction of a cub ( and our camp), but cub went after me, was curious i dont know, so i tried to make a distance from a cub, coz i knew she will return to get him and i did not want to be anywhere close, so yeah she returned for cub and left. so i returned to camp, when i got there my friends looked at me with puzzled look on their faces, one smirked and said do i expect some orgies or what.. my flier was wide open and i did not even realised lol.. 2 days later as a group we stumbeled on a male, large heavy male, but it was 3 of us so we started to make nosie and walking backwards, he left his way. it can be scary especialy if you dont know what their intentions are, they are strong, fast, claws can rip you off, and if bear is having bad day, is in pain or grumpy coz of some reason it can end bad even thou you do nothing. but i think animals sense who can be treath and who is not. but problems with some bears is if they feed once on human, they start to see them as prey, as food, so they will atack every time they see human. there was a case in 60ties i think in croatia about a bear who chased and killed few people until it was caught and shot. he did not chase anything else except humans, coz of some reason it switched to humans as a food source and was entering villages...

It can be very dangerous to come in between a mama bear and her cubs. So cool and scary at the same time that you had an ecnounter with a bear. In Canada it is quite common and there are instructions written everywhere, you also definitely should carry bear spray, it's very normal there. Black bears are not as scary as grizzly bears but all of them are quite dangerous to meet of course. Our European bears are brown bears, they can be pretty dangerous too, they are more related to grizzly bears than to black bears.

Adventure holidays in beautiful parts of the world enrich our lives. Why didn't you guys carry hiking sticks to protect yourselves in case of bear attacks? I love your Canadian trip so far. Thanks for taking us along!

Hi Robin, thank you, we are glad you've been enjoying our Canadian adventures 😊 We don't use hiking sticks and even if we did, it would have been difficult to take them with us on planes from Europe. But we don't think they would be useful against a potential bear attack, all the safety instructions on all the parks' websites always mention bear spray - that is the most necessary thing to have.
