- I have heard about this big bazaar in the city center of Dambulla - but I ended up being in the wrong place for a tourist. I wanted to buy some fruits, but this place is only for wholesales. But I got treated so well by the locals, where I made a business, the guy gave me so many fruits for free on top of what I was asking for. This is another great example of Sri Lankan hospitality!

The Tuk Tuk guy dropped you at the wrong place...All the vegetables from around the country comes here and they do whole sale...but this is also a once In a lifetime experience which other tourists doesn't do..you did it..🤗🤗The place you should visit is the weekly fair..you can know the day from a local.

@@fdama Now English is teached as a main subject in srilankan schools. Those guys in the video probably skipped the classes 😁😂 i don't know 🤣😁. If they had proper education they won't work in those markets.

Davud Machan the deeper you go to the outbacks and villages the kinder and helpful the people are (simpler life styles and less of a grind than the cities)... a homestay at a villege home will give you a great experience. Get some food prepared by them as well. All the best with your travels mate. Cheers

Try to Visit Loolkandura - Sri Lanka's first tea plantation in Deltota almost one hour journey from Kandy, and some other places like Kalabokka, Riverston in Matale, some beautiful destinations in hill country

Something I love about and proud of as a Sri Lankan, is the hospitality. These people are not rich, but they don’t hesitate to share a bit of what they have with a complete stranger. And they do that with a big smile on their faces. Especially as a tourist, I believe you experienced this everywhere you travelled in the country.

Sri Lanka is the motherland of free giveaways actually 😍😆. Come visit us at a Poya day, specialy on May and June. Almost any place you visit, there will be food huts called "Dan Sala" and people give free foods to anyone who is going nearby. Sometimes for thousands of people. Love from Ceylon 😍✌️
Yeah, it's because of the Buddhist culture of "giving". It's insane how much amazing food and other stuff is given away for free during Poya days, and sometimes they last for several days. You can go for days without spending any money on food during those days!!

I am a local Sri Lankan really love your videos here....!!❤️❤️ and of course the place is about wholesale but you can talk with the owners and buy anything you want in the wholesale Market also.... of course there are some shops that gives gives wholesale only and that also depends on the time as well for example in the morning when it is much more Rush there they will not sell you retail but in the evening when there is less Rush they will happily sell anything for retail.... and of course you have done the right thing by buying in one of the largest wholesale markets in Sri Lanka because of the higher input of produce there you will certainly have giveaways like that anannas because you were asking for fruits that you can eat that day.... those wholesale vendors have the most requests for produce that have much more shelf life so the small shelf life produce that you had for free thay will really happily give those off as it will certainly improve the business also by having Goodwill.... this is a fact that applies on most of the wholesale produce markets in Sri Lanka and this also applies to all locals also not just for tourists like you!!! for example once I had brought about 1500 Sri Lankan rupees worth of vegetables in Columbo Manning Market (which is the largest fruit and vegetable market in Sri Lanka) and for pure Goodwill the vendors give off off all they have in the evening and end of the day I ended up with about 2500-3000 Sri Lankan rupees worth of vegetables back some time ago.... of course these days Sri Lankan produce prices are at an all-time high this still applies to wholesale Markets which cells produce.... and of course we anyone who had those kind of giveoffs will certainly go back to those vendors again!!! that's how the business is there!!! of course Sri Lankan people are so much warm-hearted I'm so much into giving off things that one of the best parts of there lifes!!! you should have been here pre covid in wesak Festival times.... you could have survived about 2 weeks without buying any food and only living off of free food giveaways called "dansalas" a all you can eat community free for all food stalls that gives off delicious Sri Lankan food mostly vegetarian food for free.... and those are organized by the people and business communities.... of course because of this pandemic situation those are no more but after the pandemic those free fodoes free-for-all food stalls will come back stronger than ever you should be here when that happens.... you would have a blast I can assure you that!!!❤️❤️❤️

After Covid pandemic came, this place is always in the news - because its one of the places farmers bring their produce to sell and we are having a lot of problems with getting fruits and vegetables distributed. Good you got something there, because that place is only wholesale marketing.

This is the biggest wholesale market in the country. Not tourists attracted but genuine, however, they treated you well taking time as a friend for happiness. Today is not such a busy day.

This is one of the central markets for vegetables and fruits in Sri Lanka and distributing to whole over the country. Only they are doing wholesale business and very busiest place.

This is one of maybe three distribution centers for the whole country! Lol. If you came in the morning (around 6-8am) you'd see how busy the place is. Now most of the sales are done at this time. They earn big money here, that's why they gave you some fruit free. Most of these businessmen are loaded though they act poor. They do millions worth of business every day.
