Your hosts are wearing typical Kandyan clothes in their wedding photo, it is a different style from what people wear in the lowlands, as Kandy was once a separate Kingdom long ago in the past. The little birds are called, in English, love birds. The botanical gardens in Kandy are by the lake, and are a super beautiful place to visit. The Peradeniya university grounds are also lovely, it has to be one of the prettiest campuses in the world.
This couple didn't take any offence and nobody would since you're a foreigner :0), but generally it's considered polite to ask whether it's okay to video places like the kitchen and other private areas. This is not because anything bad's happening in these areas, it's just that the family usually gives the best places, rooms and areas to the guests, and they haven't spent on upgrading the areas the guests don't use, so it makes them feel humiliated a little. Well this goes for some people, not all, but this is true as a general rule I think :0)

All over the rural Asia I was told, it's called a "mosquitoes net", but I'd rather use a repellent, from my experience, with places without AC it could be quite stuffy, and the smart mosquitoes does somehow sneaked in and sleep with you, you'll see them well fed and bloated when you wake up.. 😕 😅

It is a home stay, not a hotel. It is quite normal for some people in SL to have bare body at home. They seem like very nice people. They are educated people, just not fully English speaking because when they were young all education was in Sinhala only.
