Brother in this kind of small shop when we ask the bill they calculted it seeing left over.that why when u ask the bill they trying to take the plate back.i think u paid all the food came to the table even u didnt eat them all.anyway its fine.very affordable price.

Tears fell down from my eyes at that moment .i think its because it brought me back to school days seriously. heart warming.i had many muslim friends at school eventhough I'm sinhala.we were all together without any difference. digging in to the home made rice packs in the interval ,feeding each other ,playing ,sharing life stories ,celebrating all the cultural days.i mean for ramazan we were treated by their delicious watalappan mmm.and vice versa they like our national foods like kavum kokis unduwal...what a nice time spent at school. If you bleed the same what is the difference among us guys❤❤❤srilanka is one nation which multicultural ethnic groups live in peace.

Dear Davud, To calculate the final price you have to complete eating. That's why when you are going to pay they collect leftover. It's Sri Lankan tradition to bring more foods to the table. You can eat whatever amount. Finally they will calculate the price according to the amount that you have eaten.

What this guy says about unity is exactly true. The school I went to in Bandatawela was a classic example for unity where there were Tamil, Muslim, Berger and Sunghalese children studied together.
Usually this type of restaurants serve you more items, and you can eat much as you want. But they will charge only for items you ate. They will take back the rest of the items. Yes, it feel bit unhygienic but that's how it's work here. Usually ppl don't eat from the served plate. they will put things on to their own plate and eat from it.

I am pleasantly surprised that the Muslim man spoke about Saudi Arabia (a Muslim country) in such a way when Davud mentioned that Saudi Arabia is rich. The man almost laughed when Davud mentioned money because money isn't the only thing that matters in a country. I know some Sri Lankan Muslims who support other Muslim countries over Sri Lanka with anything and everything, just because they follow the same religion (like supporting Pakistan when they play cricket against Sri Lanka; agreeing with the Pakistani mob that bur.nt a Sri Lankan man alive, etc etc). It always confused me how they could support other countries (that most have never even been to) over the country they were born in, was educated in, and live in. Tip for you-in a " hotel" type like this one which is very common you will be served extra food than you asked for no need to worry you can just eat the amount you want and only be charged for what you have eaten and of course pay at the end.😁
When you eat parata or egg roti, break it into small pieces and put a bit of every curry then mix it and eat. You are the final cook of every SL meals. You can change the taste of every bite by mixing the volume of each curries.

By the way, I noticed that you do "business" before you finish your food in restaurants. In SL, we usually pay cashier after we finish our food. So when you stand up from your seat to settle money, the waiter might think you are done with your food and he might clean up the table :)

Majority Sinhalese have roti, string hoppers, hoppers, pittu, milk rice (kiribath), some like to eat rice with Pol symbol,
The more you use your hand to mix the meal the more taste you get. The special thing in sri lankan meal is you need to mix them all to get the right flavors.
At regular shops you have to pay after having the food. Also, if you ask for a dish like paratha without mentioning the quantity, they will give you a few extra and you will have to pay only for the quantity of the food you eat.

Tip for you-in a " hotel" type like this one which is very common you will be served extra food than you asked for no need to worry you can just eat the amount you want and only be charged for what you have eaten and of course pay at the end.😁
When you eat parata or egg roti, break it into small pieces and put a bit of every curry then mix it and eat. You are the final cook of every SL meals. You can change the taste of every bite by mixing the volume of each curries.

By the way, I noticed that you do "business" before you finish your food in restaurants. In SL, we usually pay cashier after we finish our food. So when you stand up from your seat to settle money, the waiter might think you are done with your food and he might clean up the table :)
