Beautiful playing and a beautiful guitar I have got one but I'm going to get myself another one and keep it brand new in its case for down the track when I or if I sell it 🎉 Thumbs up from Geelong Australia 🦘🇭🇲👍
Great playing! I have a 2014 5420T in Gretsch orange. It was one of the last years before Gretsch pinned the bridge and added a treble bleed to the master volume. I don't have problems with the unpinned bridge sliding around, and I usually change strings one at a time due to the Bigsby, so I haven't bothered to pin mine. I have added a Fender-style treble bleed to the master volume, which was a huge improvement in usability. I also added simple 1nf capacitor treble bleeds across the bridge and neck volume pots. This guitar is very underrated! It stands up to guitars costing several times as much. The only gripe I have left is that the 3-way switch is not 100 percent reliable. I'm replacing it with a Gibson-style 3 way switch from SwitchCraft.
I have a 5120 and I just did the Brian Setzer and put double sided tape ( light to med tack) under the bridge. Never a issue.👌 As far as the switch go's I've had trouble with my Jets from China but not my 5120 or 5420 but hit it with a little deoxit cleaner before you go spend extra cash you don't have to spend also on a side note I don't know the switch tip will work on a switch craft. I think you will have to buy one for a Japanese made 6120 they have switch craft on them. Cheers 🍻
@@Jamerzh What u playing through? Depending on situation, I play through a Marshall Origin 50 combo, DSL 40 combo, Silver Jubilee 100 watt head with a broken-in half stack (with 2 Celestion vintage 30's & 2 Greenbacks). I use 2 overdrive pedals-either the Lunastone 3-Stage Rocket or Friedman BF Overdrive Deluxe, with the combos for dialed in overdrive. You can really control unwanted feedback this way. With the Silver Jubilee I can dial in & control feedback no problem. The pedals with small combos are lifesavers being so punchy as you push the volume. Think Billy Duffy meets Malcolm Young. The Blacktop pickups are much hotter than standard Filtertrons, so keep that in mind. Hope this helps Jamerzh, rock on!
He looks like he's having so much fun in every one of his demos. I love the way the 5420 sounds with some good dirt. If I was tall and skinny like Dagan and could wear my guitar at my waist I'd love this model, but I'm short and fat and have to wear it at my belly button and sadly this thing would protrude way too much. :(
Excellent jazz sound. I’m mostly surprised why most people don’t play jazz on it. My guess is because older models back in the day had feedback issues live, which has been remedied, and they just never entertained the idea.
I really wish youtubers would quit saying these have trustle bracing. It's very misleading. The newer Gretsch Electromatics have trustle BLOCK bracing. Very Different. I guess they are under the impression that most people won't look in the guitar they will just take the youtubers word for it. Lol There were a few pictures on line of the difference but they have gotten harder to find sa maybe Gretsch are hoping people won't know the difference.🤷♂️
@@Mitch-6-Strings well Ill have to see one but people do keep saying 50s trustle bracing when it only has the block under the bridge. If it does then thats very cool.
@@jeremybaker195 it does on this model, it’s a ‘trestle table’ in effect, just like the original Gretsch’s. I can vouch for this model, that’s my G5420T-140 in my profile pic to the left. This is an excellent guitar, good for any genre. I can’t speak for any other model about the trestle , but this model I can 👍🏻
High end Japanese spec models have trestle block bracing, and these new 5420s also have the same trestle bracing. They formerly had dowel pin bracing, Gretsch makes center block models in this same electromatic line that are different model numbers. This guy is fully hollow with the trestle bridge.
I bought 1 last year suchba b3autiful guitar out the box but ill be switching up for the BS pickups soon for that sparkle you dont quite get with the new filters
This guitar is a beauty, it’s so versatile and a quick pic of mine in on the left ! Dagan’s playing is as ever fantastic.
Heartbeat theme... wow thought I was at my grandads on a Sunday 😂
👍
Steve Stills wouldn’t have a career without a guitar like that. Amazing Grace. Amen.
Damn man, that Amazing Grace…very tasteful and soulful
I want and need one of those in my life 😮
That's one sweet sounding guitar and with your playing you simply make that thing sound like you and it could take on all guitar genres.
It absolutely can do all genres !
Just bought one yesterday. Love it!
This is my dream guitar. I just started playing but maybe one day I'll get to play one. Gotta earn it first though.
Dagan that was so friggin rad.
Wow bro you gave that guitar full justice haha and I’m still smiling and want one 😂👌🏽
Watched this video on repeat the last week going to buy one tomorrow if they have it in stock. Awesome video
We do indeed! - It's such a brilliant guitar.

Just got mine last week, so beautiful AND fun! Nice demo Dagan, "Amazing Grace" indeed, rock on sir!!!
What is feedback like at high volume?

Really love this guitar!
Heartbeat. Good tune. Well done.
Dagan never sounds so good as when he's playing a Gretsch, it just suits his style to a T.
No question!
Does a Gretsch demo…then catches a whole vibe.
Dagan rules

Just bought one from MF. Good deals to be had 🎉
oh my fkin god, i'm about to pay the price of another g5420 in taxes but i'm shipping one to brazil
I was lost but now I found a gretsch
if only...Ill have to stick with my Gretsch Rat Rod for now....
Same guitar I believe although I think it’s slightly thinner. I believe those also came with the bracing and FT5Es.
What is your secret for controlling the feedback on a hollow body electric guitar?
The trestle bracing helps massively, a very clever design.
What is the song played at around the 10:50 mark?
Degan often plays this
Similar to a John Frusiante chord progression.
does anyone know if this guitar fits in a G2420T case? i think they have the same dimensions, don't they?
Yes, I bought one for mine, perfect fit! 😊
I thought so, thanks!@@joederosas5654
@@Leyiz Rock on Leyiz!
The price is right but not sure about the color.
They make a variety of colors. I went with the chetty looking orange, but the aspen green and fairlane blue look awesome too.
Do you reckon I could drop PAFs into one of these?
Only if you’re a bloody fool. 😂
You could, but it wouldn’t be necessary. TV jones sells higher output filtertrons as drop ins if you wanted to go that route though.
9.40mins what is the song please. It is driving me mad
But can you play jazz on it?
