He is correct vtec solenoid not egr ! If you change oil regularly not of this crap would happen . My element has 298,005 miles and I never had that problem. All I replaced is the vtec cause it was leaking oil , shocks and clean the throttle body..I change the oil regularly along with break fluid , rear axle and transmission when it’s time..use honda products and the car will run great..of course also tuneups and tires etc. routine stuff as needed...great car , mines is a 07 .
Good points. This issue happened not long after I got the vehicle. I did do an engine flush and a seafoam flush as well. Haven't had an issue since I cleaned VTEC solenoid and did the flush.
The Networking Warrior Adam T Lewis Fantastic, Maintanence as simple as an oil change regularly will save the vehicle from lots of trouble..especially if you have a car that has sensors with screens and or filters. Keeps them free of blockages and properly running ..hey check your serpentine belt as well..
I have an '03 Element with 350K miles. I have replaced or cleaned the filter on the VTEC solenoid (not EGR valve) in the back of the engine. the car also leaked oil before I replace the oil pan gasket and the crank cover seal. When the oil went low and the car will not go over 2700 rpm, that when the code 2647 came on for low oil at the pressure sensor. Also another code 2646 comes on when the car will not go over 4000 rpm. It's the other sensor on the same VTEC solenoid assembly. The car will go over 4000 rpm once it warms up.
I haven't tried yet, mines been sitting for a year or so... But I did replace oil pressurer sensor.. Then cleaned screen to vtech solenoid the replaced whole set up. I hadn't checked the egr thing though, this gives me some hope, send reasonable, thank you
Hey that’s not the EGR valve ,at the rear of the vehicle, that’s the V- TEC solenoid and the one on the side is the V V T , variable valve timing solenoid...COOL
Allen B So then what did you do? I have changed Vtec solenoid and so did previous owner and both have died so today my car is going into Honda to diagnose the problem as we are getting pretty sick of it happening.
@@Dentinvent so far I flush the engine with engine flush from Walmart by gunk for 5 bucks ran and drained and replaced oil and filter so far good Seems like these engines are oil critical with the variable advance system that is the valve on back of engine 50 bucks on line Let me no what dealer says
Allen B Well I took car to Honda and told them the vtec solenoid was faulty . Genuine one died after maybe 4 weeks. They said they needed 1 hour labour cost to prove it faulty .AU$155 later they called to say they needed another AU$155 to check ecm and so after 2 hours they said car won’t be ready . Needs a new vtec pressure switch . What the ! Anyway working at the moment but if it dies Honda is getting car returned for what should be work under warranty . Oh they gave me a new vtec pressure switch worth about AU$70 but I had to pay the $310 diagnosis charges .

Omg man thanks I have the same problem and I did what you said and right now it’s fine thanks
No prob. Your more than welcome
Where is your egr valve there are not egr valves on this engine?

Lots of codes to clear bro
Could be oil pressure sensor. Could be crankshaft position sensor. Could be vtec solenoid issue. Could be a lot of things.
@@thronewalker1153 i replace my vtech selenoid clean every he say and was running for like 5 minutes and the problem come back any help?

God bless you I got some work to do this weekend
Getr dun
Thanks a lot. Having the same issue. Gonna try what you did now. I'll let you know!
I don't own that element anymore but I'm glad my video was of some assistance
I have same year element and as far as i have researched it has an oem deleted egr by honda and is located behind the throttle body.
I've since sold her. Way to much work to be done and I didn't think it was worth it

Thanks bro. I appreciate your help and not being a jack ass about it like some guys can be.
ahaha thats a vtec solenoid not egr
Yeah that's what I said
The EGR Valve? You mean the VTEC Solenoid
Yes. I do believe that is what I thought was the EGR.
So the EGR valve you point to is a vtec solenoid? Code P2646 is usually oil pressure related and not Exhaust gas related.
yes I agree,I replaced mine but only made it better for a few weeks

Honda wants alot more for that valve

Mine is not VTEC tho. But I should still have the same EGR right?
Not sure homie.
I have sold that element since I made that video. It was a cool car but I wouldn't buy one again
If vehicle won't go pass certain speed or rpm sometime it's clogged cat
You probably were just low on oil. You had an oil leak. If you don't fix the oil leak it will just happen again.
I've sold her since then but there was no oil leak just low maintenance on behalf of the previous owners
Im having problems same no more 2500 rpm and dont pass 60 milles an hour.. but i think is the speed senssor dont you or sombotty knows?
I think it might be the TPS. Throttle positioning sensor.
Try a seafoam flush then change the TPS.
Did you get it fix? And what did you do? Thanks
U live in Virginia.
No
Thats not egr valve buddy
