It is sad to see how they have destroyed Jai alai in this country. They killed all 4 Fronton's up here in the northeast. Milford, Hartford, Bridgeport and Newport are all gone. I think the only one that is still standing growing weeds in the parking lots is Newport. All the rest are gone making way for CarMax, Lowes and not sure what is on the spot where Bridgeport use to be.

The Bridgeport fronton closed - if you could believe it - to make room for a greyhound track. I think that was c. mid-1990s. The dog track eventually went under, and I'm unsure of what happened to the building after that. I used to play at the amateur fronton in Milford, which was located around the corner from Milford Jai-Alai. We had some great times then. You can still play in Berlin, Ct. A former player established an amateur court there c. ten years ago. If you've ever played, or even if you haven't, you might want to stop by. Regards.

Yes, I know about the amateur court in Berlin and Matt opened it 3 years ago. It is a shame that they have destroyed Jai alai. The only thing that we can do is keep fight to keep the ones that are still open (Open), and keep trying to get the youth involved in the sport. Using Social media is one way to keep the sport alive.

+Michael Perry It's sad. I've only been a few times, but wanted to learn Jai-alai, but didn't live in FL.

I remember my parents and Aunts and uncles used to go to Milford to watch the games.. Seems like a lifetime ago.

Your going to tell me that there was never 1 single game that was fixed at the Miami front on?,sorry,I'm not buying it,no fun intended... They just didn't get caught, but that doesn't mean that it hasn't taken place...

Sure it took place, for reasons you can only imagine, but
there is always going to be that 5% of rulebreakers in any
sport or profession. The sport will return one day, there was
      nothing like it!
