This results in a very harsh, distorted sound, and is usually used a lot for very low screams/growls. A chord is just multiple notes played at the same time, and in most modern music serves as the base for the rest of the song to go off of.

Although we've lost Chester Bennington/Linkin Park's Lead Singer recently, we've got Adam Cizek and he should fill the void of those that love the style of this sound that combines Metal, Alternative, Electronic/EDM, and Dubstep. The talent Adam exhibits is unparalleled in today's music! Chester and Linkin Park changed the sound of Alternative music in the early 2000's and probably was an influence to today's Dubstep/Trap genre, especially with the release of 'Reanimation'.
