Just an addendum...salary varies state to state, and within the state district to district. In our district, UISD of Laredo,Texas, the starting salary with zero year experience is 50K per 187-day contract. Just sharing:)

In one of our districts in California, the long-term substitue teacher is $250 a day, so in a month they can pay you $5,000. What more if you are a regular teacher, the salary is more than a long-term sub.

Teacher's are so lucky in the Philippines to have that basic salary grade. That doesn't happen for the nurses unless you work in Pubic hospitals. However, I dunno why nurses are paid more than teachers in the US. Both are tough and noble jobs. In Ohio nurses without experience starts @ 55-60 k a year without experience not to mention their differentials, bonuses, and overtime. Kudos to our Pinoy Nurses and teachers for serving the American community.

Actually,it’s no longer how much will it saves you. But it is now the contentment you have reached matters. Still, if we compare, in the Philippines you work hard but still you can’t live a comfortable life, even own a car. You are right sir, you are in USA and it gives much 1st world experience. We are paying for the experience which we are not getting in the Philippines at walang masama doon. Keep it up sir! You are indeed an inspiration!

This is the average American can get, however US teachers are still underpaid because of the cost of living (apartment, housing, mortgages, car insurance, etc.)
It's a lot in philippine pesos, but remember it's exactly the same salary as in Japan (250,000 yen a month to teach English to kids with rude behavior outside of their Japanese public school).
Are you okay with that much money in the US? Do you think American teachers should get paid more to live a good life like Filipinos should in the Philippines?

There is always a demand across all disciplines including Phys Ed teachers. If you are a Phys Ed major, make sure you familiarize yourself with a lot of American Sports and indoor game activities Americans play. Other than being proficient in conversational english, you need to have a second language like spanish because there are so many districts in US with huge latino populations and knowing how to speak at least basic spanish is very essential.

I am just talking about the way the State of Ohio handling teaching experience. Ohio doesn’t accept experience from a private school. I am not sure with other states but I guess that’s their general rule here. But the good thing is if you have a master’s degree, the starting salary is much bigger than those with just bachelor’s degree. So finish your masters and it will give you so much advantage salary and work wise. Also, even if they will not accept your experience from a private school for salary adjustment, still that is teaching experience and that is good for your resume. 😊

Still much, much better than teaching in the Philippines. Most of the deductions are for SS pension/disability, unemployment insurance and Medicare, I see those as benefits as we will need those when we get old and in case we lose our job. Teachers can buy a nice house and a new car in US, impossible in the Philippines. *Of course, it is hard at first to get established in US but once house, cars and other debts are paid off, life is good in US. Groceries, goods and utilities are cheaper in US. In the Philippines, teacher's salary is a joke, pang-merienda lang or kulang pang pambili ng brief. There are also many deductions in the Philippines. Teachers' salary in US goes up yearly with inflation and as you become more senior, it goes up. Teachers' unions are strong. There is also a teacher's pension and 401K a teacher can contribute to. THINK LONG TERM, NOT SHORT TERM IN USA IN ORDER TO SUCCEED AND EVEN GET RICH with saving money and smart money investments.

Teacher ,Paano po Yung major in history from Ph? Tatanggap po ba cla ng major in history dyan sa USA?

    • @jaydel3
      @jaydel3 3 года назад

Im a Filipino American teacher.. For your Bachelor’s degree they generally don’t care what you major in. But you have to get a “credential.” The credential are specific teaching classes before you become credentialed. However, there are “emergency” credentials. Right now there is a huge teacher shortage all across the country. In general teachers’s are considered low pay for middle class but that’s because cost of living is high. In smaller cities and states the cost of living is low and the teacher salary is also lower.

Since US is a native English speaker or let's say it's their L1 , do they still accept English major teacher from Philippines?
Thank you and looking forward for your response 😊💛

As long as you are fit for the position, eligible to work and the determined, you can be an English teacher here in the US. They don’t descriminate applicants based on their race, gender or whatsoever. Hope it helps!

    *Bi-monthly

    • @CallMeAlvinM

I know the difference between bi-monthly and bi-weekly type of pay. I am paid bi-weekly and that means my employer pays me every other week and in my case, I am paid every other Friday. However, bi-monthly pay also exists and it is when somebody is paid by their employer twice a month and roughly 15 days apart. So, I know what I am talking. Thank you!

We use bi-weekly here in US because we are paid exactly to the last week, If I may say it that way. You are actually at a disadvantage when you are paid bi-monthly which is the common practice in the Philippines. For your information, there is a month that is often times has five Sundays. I believe it’s May and It’s always more than 4 weeks the reason why we get paid 26 times a year for 12 month salaried employees and 21.6 times for 10 month employee as opposed to 24 times per year (bi-monthly). If that makes sense to you.
