DOWNGRADED at LaGuardia Airport

- Sometimes you expect a lot and get a less. That’s what happened as my Delta flight from LaGuardia to Jacksonville was downgraded and I was automatically re-assigned a seat I didn’t want. Being very particular about seat choice, I was not in an ideal situation on this flight. I’ll try to make the most of it in this fully narrated video explaining the entire departure process step-by-step.
Although the seating was directly above the wing, still, Peter, you made the best of whatever the view offered...😃optimizing appropriately during turns and straight courses too! Like you rightly pointed out, that indeed was a panoramic perspective of the East U. S. - coast! Most absorbing and educative! Wish you all the best for your next flights... please do not stop educating us...I am sure you will not! Bravo---- for an informative commentary...the seating did not deter your resolve! Thanks yet again!!!
I fondly appreciate that!
Prego !!!@@PeterMasella
You still made the best videos with what you were offered. I know how frustrating it can be to have a seat with zero to no view of the beautiful views. Looking out the window is the fun of flying for me. Great video Peter
I appreciate that!
I understood the stress with the windows. Nice work even with these difficulties on this flight. Keep up with your great flight analysis.
Thanks 👍
I'm sorry your flight didn't go as well as it should have. You did get some great views even though it was a struggle. I hope your next flight is much better. Thanks for these informative videos and sharing the bad things that happen as well as the good things. God bless you and thanks again.
Thanks so much as always, Patrick!
I totally get it! I would have been upset about that seat too! I always book to the back of the plane and the window!!
I can fully agree with you, I have flown on the E170s & E175s to Indianapolis from New York many times and just can't stand how terrible the window alignment is. The way I avoid this is by flying Delta out of KJFK and will get a CRJ-900. However, that is when I get lucky when Delta isn't charging huge prices so most of the time I have to fly the American E175 which also has terrible alignment. At the end of the day; flying will always be much more fun and quicker than driving and always have to be thankful for the hard work those ground staff do! Great video and commentary!
I love this comment! Thanks so much for watching!
Another informative video, thank you, Peter!
I really appreciate it! Thanks so much!
Another great video! At 20:28 you flew right my house lol!
Cool! Thanks for watching!
good stuff Pete Not your fault they changed planes on you.. When I was a kid I lived in the Bronx and my first flight ever was on a National airlines 727.. I saw Yankee stadium departing from runway 31and my Dads candy store down the block from Yankee stadium.. We were going to Miami.. Your videos remind me of that.. Do you know if departing planes to the south on 31 still fly over the Bronx and Yankee Stadium?
Departing planes off of runway 31 often turn right after departure over the Bronx in Yankee Stadium however more recently I have been noticing that many of aircraft taking off of runway 31 just fly runway heading.
Great explanation of the flight being downgraded! 😃
Glad you liked it!
Another great one! Thank you Peter -
Thanks again!
Peter, I know you hated your seat, but you showed me areas I have not seen when flying out of the city, I have never seen breezy point from the air, thanks
Cool!
Peter it happens but it beats over sold and we need volunteers. The grass isn’t any greener B6 with seat selection for me
This flight was indeed oversold and people did volunteer!
The first time I flew Delta Boeing 717 from MCO to Laguardia, I got a no window seat, which got got me embarrassed, so my first time on Delta it really sucked. But I felt bad when your seat wasn't correctly on the window
It’s disappointing!
It was not a “downgrade”. Strong misplaced sentiment. We must be thankful we are able to fly, from financial and pandemic point of view!
Absolutely. Someone actually pointed out to me that it was called a "downgage". A "downgrade" would be a change in class. While my class remained the same, I did view it as a lesser seat due to it's position. It is absolutely a privilege to be able to fly. I'm just pointing out that I paid for a product but was delivered something else.
@@PeterMasella These seats are not just paid for and bought you/us to remain same; (Airlines do not promise any specific seat until it’s confirmed) We pay for them using status upgrades and miles accrued overtime due to the leisure and business travels. I would not be so negative about it and call it inferior product.
@@madhuunni1 It's not an inferior product. The interior cabin of an E175 is virtually identical to that on an E170. The main cabin product is the same. For this particular flight I payed in full using dollars for my seat and I had a confirmed window seat on the E175 with better window alignment and that was taken away once the equipment was changed to an E170. What the airlines don't focus on is window aliment and they are not to blame for this because when they sell a seat they focus more on selling comfort and legroom but I take a different stance. My goal is for viewers to be happy by exploring a different side of flying. Instead of being upset at the food or service, marvel at the beauty that the window seat affords! It's priceless.
@@PeterMasella All I have to say is; nothing is “taken away”. No privileges are denied. Full dollars or miles or upgrade certificates; all the trips; including frequent ones to Europe; few domestic; lot goes into them other than just “full dollars”. I am thankful that my/our family has this opportunity to fly and learn. I would not be negative and paint it as a problem; when it is not!
@@madhuunni1 ok
You are buying a ride, NOT a window.
Peter do you need to visit the ATC lab at vaugh to give a better understand of departures at LGA..
I went to school there and spent many hours up there!
@@PeterMasella I know that why is said that ..
On this flight when you near AC. on the right side you would have seen my town of Vineland NJ which is near the Cedar Lake VOR (VCN)
Cool! I always see Vineland as I approach a LaGuardia when I sit on the right.
i love these e170175 jets but sitting as a passenger is kind of annoying for avgeeks. mismatched window seats at a bunch of rows. boeing or airbus have mismatched ones too but maybe only 1 row out of the whole airplane. one time the middle seat pax behind closed my shade when i wanted the view for take off(i was window seat in front). it was a mom and her kid. kid didn't like the outside lights coming in and mom was like just shut his window shade. kid was like i can't. then mom without asking me, reaches over to my row and shuts my window shade. smh
yikes!
I would’ve said nope!
First upgrade on Delta, huh?
huh?
To get the seat you need say, "do you know who i am?"
I HATE MISALIGNED WINDOWS!!! It's a seat that should come with a disclaimer if booked.
100000% agree! Instead when you book an Embrer 175, it says "Enhanced Winglets" on the reservation - as if that matters to anyone!
🙄 must say that based on your experiences lately (gate agent, equipment change, previous extreme flight delays, price increases for Sky Club etc) just very disappointing to say the least.
I'll have to agree! That is why I am placing more emphasis these days on the window seat view/aspect.
7:30 I also pick (WELL in advance) my seat. This is not a good view for those of us who enjoy looking out the entire flight.
Yup
Peter, your airplane autism is worse than mine, and I'm bad. I love my STARs, SIDs, and ARTCC boundary maps, and I know you've looked at those. But it's an equipment swap, not a hostage situation.
Boy do I love those charts!
@@PeterMasella me too! Thanks for your videos. I live on the West Coast and you'd love the POINT REYES THREE arrival into SFO. Usually need to come in from the Pac NW or Europe to fly ,it but it's one of the best over the coast and GG Bridge.
This wasn’t by any chance back in April, was it? Only asking because I flew in the same day as Trump did for his legal difficulties and saw his plane upon landing. Interestingly, not far from where the plane is parked is an institution where at the time a former employee of Trump’s was “residing”.
No. This was a recent flight. Trump’s 757 has been seen more regularly at LGA recently.
you havn't been downgraded.
Technically is a downgauge, I just found out.
Another challenge would be if the person in front & back decide to pull down their shade. If thats the case better enjoy the movie or read a newspaper - Ugh.
Yikes!
Those pasangers, as the majority of them, can care less or love about window seats, type of planes, less of an amazing view. They just want to go from point A to point B. They hate and be annoyed by the amazing aviation world. Hi 👋 from Charleston, SC.
Correct.
I wonder if you sat in the row behind you and said, "whops I am in the wrong seat" would the person just sit in your seat instead? I did that once or twice and it worked. I also had someone do it to me and I just sat in the other seat (as long as it is a window).
Ha! Interesting idea!
Terrible seat! Similar to A321, a misaligned/no window.
yup
While your view was not ideal, I am reminded of your first world problem so common to those of us travelers known as window misalignment
Noticed President Trumps plane as you were taxing!🇺🇸
It’s back at LGA these days
Please don't slow down your comments. I understood fine.
I do too understand him fine, but I can see why they seem too fast to others.
Thanks! That’s just how I talk and if I talked slower the video would be too long!
Geez. Lay off the negativity.
Please slow down your comments. I couldn't understand anything you were saying. Thank you
Enough already about the windows.
