The binaural pan is by far the biggest fucking improvement with the least amount of effort I've ever made in music production, and I think it will stay that way for a while. Thank you man, I appreciate it.
I've just returned to Logic Pro after a long 4-5 year absence, while exploring 3D animation so that I can put music to visuals on RUclips. Of course, everything' changed - Live loops, Q-Sampler, the Sequencer even Alchemy is new to me!!! I discovered your channel, watched a few of your tutorials, and immediately decided to subscribe and watch ALL of them! Concise and informative, you're one of the best out there. Huge thanks!!
As pro I was surprised about the binaural technique - There’s always something new to learn/be remembered and try out. Didn’t expect that one thank you!
The reason why people recommend those two samples together is because they don't need much done to them after they're put together. One of the staples of trap music
Hey man great tips on how to make your kick hit harder keep up the great work also I do a lot of mixing and recording tips on my channel to so keep up the great work and keep making great music man sounds great
Pro Tools has been an industry standard for such a long time that I think people are used to it. However, now with the accessibility and price point of Logic there's been a change in which DAWs are being used professionally. Thank you for watching and the comment Cobby!
Thank you, Tony! Helpful tips. Funny thing, I watched a video on a same topic right before yours, and the guy told to fit kick right in the center of the binaural pan, while you explaining the opposite hahah gonna go to logic and try myself )
This is one of my first videos, at this stage of my production journey I was pretty new, this was a technique that just happened to work for me. Typically, it is better to keep your kick dead centre, in mono. But at the end of the day, if it sounds good to you, then do what works for you! Thanks for watching + the comment
@@itstonyholiday subscribed as well 🙏 question: if my mix sounds great on my dt 770s ( I don't have speakers) and sounds comparable to a good Spotify sound in terms of loudness, do I need to pay someone to master on speakers ?
@@krp_musicc Paying for a good engineer vs. doing it yourself with no experience will always pay dividends. But it depends what you want... Are you just making music for fun and learning? Are you making an album that's going to be on the charts?
Such great advice about hi-passing the sub. I like to use side-chain compression as well. Sometimes i'll use multi-band compression and just side-chain a specific band on the 808 to the kick, this also works with other drum elements as well, i.e. side-chain compress the upper mids of the synth pad to the snare. It's really good with a dynamic EQ as well, unfortunately logic doesn't come with one.
@@itstonyholiday one workaround is to divide the track into multiple tracks using eq (duplicate and hi-pass/low-pass etc.) so that you have the frequency content split into individual tracks. You can then use the compressor side-chained to whatever to duck only the relevant track, the only potential caveat here is phase change due to the filtering/eq, which can end up causing some phase cancellation at the frequencies where the filters are placed - can be avoided with linear phase EQ but then the CPU usage is higher. Best to just use your ears to judge in that case.
Tom M yes this is typically the method I’ve used in the past. But like you said the CPU output can get to be a lot sometimes. Love doing that type of thing with low end tho, 808s, bass and such... affecting the different parts of them based on being low, mid, or high to really make them feel big.
I’ve just lived in apartments since I started producing so I didn’t have an opportunity to use monitors. The old saying “do whatever sounds good” has been my mantra
Hey James, not sure what you mean by "when does it come in". Low end is typically best in mono but you can shape your sounds anyway that you like if it sounds good.
Hey! I do but on a track by track basis. Sometimes I don't want the kick to knock through as big when I really want to make the vocalist come first or it's a more mellow song. But yes, you definitely can. Thanks for watching!
@@itstonyholiday Oh sweet awesome. Thank you for taking your time to reply. I enjoy your tutorials and I finally made an account. Your very informative and helpful with every direction. Keep the hard work going Tony!!! :)
Justin Fontaine my guy! I have one on basic trap drum patterns, check that one out for some beginner patterns and such. Try switching up the placements of your percs and kicks to start but keep the clap consistent on the 2 and the 4. That should give you a playground of different patterns to work with. Thank you for watching homie 🙌
Justin Fontaine one great way to make different beats is if your recording midi drums go back into the edited and move your drum notes around to create a different beat a great way to do that is with your high hat the way you can change your high hat to create dynamics and rhythm to your tracks is place your high hat notes on different tracks so it’s in a zigzag pattern and it will give your mix some dynamic and more rhythm also you can add in extra kicks and snare and cymbals into the edited to make different beats

Great vid! Btw 5:16 what about using a pitched kick and just putting it on the right note with sampler/ultrabeat whatever, instead of boosting the note frequencies on the eq?
Also a great solution! These aren't the "definitive" ways to make your kick hit harder. More just suggestions that work great and make you think of other ways. Could defo pitch and of your drums to the key of the song to fit it in better.
@@Joshstix95 Ah gotchu, if it's in one loop as an audio file then probably not cause you're going to affect the whole loop. If you can isolate the kick drum then you should be able to get it smackin. Good luck!

Definitely love the use of the multipressor to bring through that extra punch. Can you sidechain specific bands with the stock LPX one?
Tony Holiday unfortunately the logic stock multipressor doesn’t have sidechain capabilities. I use neutron from izotope for this.
