Hi, they were the updated mercruiser replacement parts for my engine serial number, the update is sealed better & has 3 wires as I showed , not sure of the part numbers but it’s the standard thunderbolt ignition module & sensor wheel. If you have the older points style I’m not sure what’s involved, maybe the whole distributor is different. If yours already has thunderbolt ignition then just order the sensor, wheel, rotor & cap to suit the engine serial number, pretty sure if it’s thunderbolt there is only one to suit the V8. Hope that helps
@@fixitdan5248 thanks for quick reply…. I just ordered one on Quicksilver as you did . This Monday it will come so I can install for mine…. Thanks again!
HELP! mecruiser 350 5.7 ran great but started hesitating so I replaced the fuel pump, ran afterwards great. Also replaced the starter while I was at it. Went to start it the next day to test the starter Cranks wonderful but has no spark at all I’ve been digging into the engine for ours and can’t figure out the issue!! cleaned the points, did everything I could and still nothing.. the last time I started the engine was when I turned off the RUN/OFF switch, basically a safety switch that cuts all the power to any spark accessories. I bypassed the switch to see if it was bad and still nothing… Any suggestions would help
Hi, maybe open up the distributor cap and check the ignition sensor that I replaced, if it’s the old 2 wire one I would maybe replace it or at least remove & clean as it earths through the bolts and check all connections. if it’s the newer 3 wire one follow the black earth wire and unbolt clean contact surfaces and see how that goes. Also the coil may need testing, check wiring etc & replace if it’s looking corroded. Actually make sure you have power to the positive side of coil with ignition on before you do anything, purple wire I think.
@@fixitdan5248 hi, it’s the old 2 wire one. I will look into replacing that! Just started working on it last week. It had power key/on at the coil . I replaced the ignition coil and checked for spark, still no spark. Gave up until the next morning now there’s no power to the coil… I also put a direct positive wire to the coil and still no spark….
@@crazymc3909 Hard to say without looking at it but sounds like an earth issue still or a break or corrosion in main wiring loom plug, try jump the ignition by running temporary wires directly & new temporary earth as well to see if it gets power , and I’d be replacing the part in the distributor if it’s the old two wire one
@@fixitdan5248 yeah I’m 100% gonna replace that distributor part, today I check for power to the coil and surprisingly there’s power! But there’s another confusion… there’s power going to the negative terminal of the coil, is that Normal? I also tried putting a direct postive from the battery to the coil, but as soon as I plug in the negative, negative terminal sparks… I’m not sure if power going to the negative terminal is normal
wow. im so feed up with videos that cant just simply stay on point and with people who cant hold the camera still enough to not give people motion sickness from watching.! thx
There should be 2 wires that originally plugged into the distributor , use those same wires . The colors should match like mine did if it’s original Mercruiser wiring.
It’s very simple, the 2 wires go exactly where the original 2 wires go and the 3rd black earth wire goes anywhere on the engine block, I chose the bolt that holds the coil bracket as a good spot. The unit screws inside the distributor with 2 screws in the exact same spot as the original, there is no adjustment, just screw in place. Hope that helps, I should do a detailed vid on it but it’s stored away for winter at the moment.
Thank you Thank you.. liked and subscribed
Sick vid mate
nice one i had the same issue at hand at the moment so what is the part number for the ignition sensor and wheel assembly please.?

Nice boat mate!

Thanks Jermaine Clement
Hi we’re is going connecting the ground cable?
Hi , I put the ground cable on the bolt that mounts the coil but any clean bolt directly on the engine should work
Where did you connect that one black wire with the circle lead at?
Brent Walsh hi, I put it on the bolt that holds the coil bracket
please where is the black wire really go to? I can not find one with twoo wires!
The black wire goes on any earth or bolt on the motor, I put mine on the coil bracket bolt

Hahaha yeah mate, was my first video, they get better. Subscribe and watch the rest too you’ll see👍
You have low rpm?
Might have been a little low and hadn’t had a good run, check my latest vid on fixing the stalling problem.
Where do the long black ground wire go
I think I put it on the bolt holding the coil bracket at back of motor
I had to take dramamine to get through this.
Yes mate the waves were big that day!!
hi Were go the green and red cabel ?

@@fixitdan5248 mine had other colors and not easy plug in. I have to try and route the wires to see where they land.
I think u had a weak fuel pump also
Unfortunately you don’t show how you got it all out or in and you don’t show where the wires hooked up to helpful somewhat but not enough
