Always love the people who say "You're too afraid to use your real name" as if I wasn't taught 100s of time as a child NEVER to use my real name or any personal info on the internet.
It’s like “prove you’re not a coward. Let us see your real name (so I can either find you myself or send someone after you)”.
Yeah that argument is extremely dumb. Most people under the age of 50-60 never use their real name online, it’s been drilled into us from a young age. The internet is for aliases and anonymity, especially if you are taking a stance against something, as people may try and find you and where you live, it’s why doxing is such a big problem. People that make that argument really are unable to think critically.
To a WOMAN (or femme-identifying person) _on the internet_ to boot, as if that hasn't gotten people killed before. Hell, even as someone without a platform her size, I don't put my name out there.

It's honestly the dumbest shit in the world. I grew up learning explicitly to NOT put personal info on the internet. Somewhere along the line that became the norm and now people get offended and upset when they're harassed or attacked irl because they did the equivalent of hanging your entire bare ass out a car window on a narrow road and being shocked when a passing semi hits it.

Certainty is something to be doubtful of. As trite as it sounds, it's still true. If you encounter someone who is absolutely certain of anything, especially religion, go somewhere else. Once someone is certain, they close their minds to any possibility that they could be wrong. And that's why "scientists" usually talk in probabilities. Dictators and preachers use certainty to beat people into submission.

People like Gunter are the reason that Erika, and her “ilk”, are arguing about things that I learned about over 50 years ago; In spite of the incredible increase in evidence that supports evolution. Gunter and his ilk are so sure that they are right they believe evidence that doesn’t support their beliefs must be wrong.
The thing is while Dr. Bechly could certainly actually believe the stuff he's spouting, it's not really necessary. It's also a possibility that he could be presenting this way for financial gain.
The most egregiously offensive lie in Genesis Impact was the cropped picture of the Hadar archaeological find.
There were 96 skulls next to Lucy in the original, and several more jaws.

I grew up neck deep in one of many anti-science movements of the 80's post that "moral majority" nonsense. There's a _very_ deep misogyny that was constantly present in those circles. Nothing threatens the "manhood" of those dorks more than a young educated woman. That is (in my opinion) why at times there's such venom in their approach when addressing GG. I once started listening to creationists doing a stream amongst themselves which I regretted 5 minutes in but I heard that they mentioned GG so I was curious. Immediately they went for her voice annoying them or her looks on some weird creepy level like she's literally an object to them and nothing more. I needed to take a shower after hearing that.

Funny, I discovered the Gutsick Gibbon channel when I randomly watched the Rubutting Genesis Impact videos. It was very clear that Erika is a very intelligent and articulate biological anthropologist. Being moderately obsessed with hominins, I knew right away she was my anthropological hero.

Gutsick is a great debater, not because she "goes in for the kill", I don't think she's ever done that. She's just killing you with facts the whole time and you don't even realize it. It's just fact, after fact, after fact, after *crucial* fact. It's always either a direct refutation of the science or meaningful challenge to the claim; usually in the form of an honest question. It's the difference between something like:
Debatelord: "Oh, you think the Earth is flat? Well then how do you explain Time Zones? You can't? Oh, I guess you're fucking r*****ed."
vs.
Gutsick: "I've always been intrigued by flat Earth model. My only question would be that it seems like the sun would need to move in a manner inconsistent with observations to account for the changing times of day around the world. Perhaps you can explain?"

Man, I want to become a content creator on RUclips, but I'm scared of people finding out my last name and tracking down my *father's* university office.
It's not like they'd even need to travel to our city to hurt him or me - just bombarding his office or the university in general with calls or his email with messages could cause a serious problem. (It's not like they'd even need to use their own phone number and send each call themselves if they are proficient in tech at all.)

Just reading that hurts my head. I've had an easier time reading abstracts by real scientists. Creationists are good at word salads as a means of misdirection so most people don't notice the glaring holes in their arguments
