Lynyrd Skynyrd,. Free Bird, Live, Oakland, 1977 - Remaster w/ Color & Gamma Corrections (Attempt 1)

- This work builds upon that which @Austech did a year ago! You should really check out his channel! He has hundreds of remastered music videos and is really the one who deserves the credit and attention here. / @austech
This is the one where he remastered the Lynyrd Skynyrd Oakland footage with AI / Machine Learning technology. I added to that, making corrections for color, gamma, saturation and aspect ratio.
This was tough. Each camera seemed to have its own level of correction needed, so I tried to average it out instead of making a different preset for each camera. The blues in the sky, jeans, clothing are more accurate. I might have gone too far with upping the saturation but I wanted things to "pop out."
I may either tone down the colors a tad and/or attempt to bring down the yellow hues. The problem is that if I tap further into the red tones, it starts affecting shadows and skin tones, because there's very little color data to draw from.

It was a lot more fun being 20 in the seventies then being 70 in the 20s

Awesome band, awesome music, awesome times. I grew up in this era here in SoCal...electric times if you know what I mean. It's funny. I'm still the same weight, same height and same hair down to the middle of my back. Only difference is that I vote Republican now. lol....I never would have thought that back in the day.
I was there! Its crazy that I can see a video of this concert 46 years later. It was a great summer day. Six of us drove down from Humboldt Co with great bud. We passed joints around, and there were no strangers. Ive been to many concerts, and this was the best one of my life. I now have five grandsons, and semi-retired. I really miss those times.
God i miss the days when concerts where couple 100 friends hanging out living. Now its sea of electronics
I was there too, my first concert, I was 13, my mom and her boyfriend took me and one of my friends, it was awesome.
I was there as well and just 17 years old..I believe ACDC was also playing that day with Bon Scott as the front man. I ended up getting a sunstroke that day and passed out when I hit the cool air flowing up by the bathrooms. Still remember it like it was yesterday. So glad I was there in the crowd somewhere on Bill Graham presents a day on the green. Drove up with my friends from Salinas California. Epic concert. I'm 63 now and yes I'm a grandma now.
Wish I was there!
You hit the nail on the head the 70's girls were The best in natural all tats and piercings have robbed them of the , I'm 67 and bald and grey. I weep too!! Just look at them give me bell bottoms beauties.
Looking at these videos from the 70s, I have to say that young people looked healthier and had less weight problems back then, compared to the rampant obesity of todays youth.
Before the food supply was contaminated and computers made people sedentary

Being what you would call part of the younger generation I´ve been to a bunch of smaller gigs myself and (atleast with regard to the artists I enjoy) this has never been an issue. Sure, some people took pictures, but not every concert is like the big ones you see in the news where everyone is filming.

This is the America I fell in love with as a kid......sadly gone forever.....love to you all from Australia.
Great song. Send me back to 1977. I was finishing up my last year in the United States Marine Corps. Love to be 22 years old again. Semper Fi from an old Marine Sergeant
Can we go back? Back to when we felt free, love swirled around in the air amassing all of us. I saw that the last original member of Skynyrd died and I cried for a few minutes. Funny story I was conceived at this concert. In the back of a Buick skylark
Incredibly amazing video that captures a time in history perfectly. The world will never be like this again, you can only hope people become this connected again
I wasn’t alive then but i totally feel it. It just feels like how humans have come together in all of history. To be together. We’re so disjointed now, half our mind is online
@@jaydock1plus there’s blacks and mexicans EVERYWHERE.
You are the problem.
There will never be another southern rock band as great as Lynyrd Skynyrd, but their memory will live on forever through the music left behind.
1977, and I was the sound man of a band that had two guitar players who would double track their guitars, (play note for note against each other). I remember them saying how hard it was to play tight on the songs. Skynyrd is doing this with three lead guitar players, on a fast beat in front of 100,000 fans. The leads are just amazing. And the bass player, Leon Wilkeson, is a virtuoso to hang in like he does. I consider this one of the best live concerts of all time.
I can't believe how great a band could be and have so much tragedy as these guys...they are all gone but their music will live until infamy.
And on the entire world
No social media, girls none to hardly make up, the music, the vibesss what a time!
Bless the band rest peacefully 4ever ❤
They were so good
Them boys gave it all, best concert ever
I was at this concert! I was in the Army and on leave, visiting my Family in Walnut Creek. I stayed long enough to see Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Outlaws, and Carlos Santana. I had to leave before the headliner, Peter Frampton, in order to catch my flight out of SFO to Fort Jackson S.C., and then to Germany. What a great memory!
too bad your flight wasn't out of Oakland!!! LOL
@@bjbhehir Yeah, I could have stayed for Frampton!
I am sure that Skynyrd blew Frampton off the stage
@@gmartinz01 You are probably right! Skynard was what I came there for, and they delivered!
You saw the 2 best ones anyway. 😁
Sad the band was cut short, look at how beautiful the girls were back them.
Before socalled beauty sirurgics kill all beautiful girls out there😅
In those times the girls where made of flesh and Bones, hard to believe 😂
I just can't stop hearing this song. It's like ton of times already. Beautiful crowd, happy faces, good times. The best years ever. We are the lucky ones. Enjoy what we have left. Peace be with all.
Да Мы счастливчики , катастрофа случилась в 1991 году. Смотрю, не могу оторваться. Класная музыка была во времена СССР и девушки наши были красивые, не то что сейчас во времена Царской Педерации поющие трусы с Кабзоном
I started high school in 1971, some of the best years of my life, saw my first conert...it was David Bowie. Never got to see skynyrd though.😢
Damn I miss the 70's. This footage is just incredible to see how everyone is just having a great time and flowing with positive energy. I was only 7 years old at that time. Dang i wish I could go back in time.
This footage is just so awesome in so many ways!!!
Thank you for showing this video.Reminds me of great times. Best Regards from U.K.
What great taste you have. Cheers!
I hope the platinum blonde properly thanked the guy carrying her on his shoulders and giving her a front fow view for 11 minutes and 42 seconds of rock greatness
People were proud to be Americans with flags, hardly any ugly tattoos, thin chicks, musicians that could play their instruments back then in the 70s.
Confederate Flags
Amen brother
If you could play a Gibson SG or a Strat, and play cool leads Women were like putty in your hands.
No obese fatties, no smartphones, no fake teeth or tits, no backing tracks, no fentanyl, no Trump supporters, no Fox News… jeez they were the days.
@@copperfish543 That's still true.
The best live tape of a rock band ever. I don't mean just Southern Rock, I mean all rock. Just unreal .
Agreed
Thats for damn sure
Absolutely
I've probably heard this song hundreds of times, but this is the first time I think I've ever seen a video of it. Amazing!
Same here Phill.
The energy in this video I'd off the wall. One fellow look like he's been doing coke all night and the energy brings him out. Lol.
Yes, you're right.
Greetings from Switzerland, you kow...Europe, the old world.
I' a a swiss citizen, born 1955 in Switzerland.
My first encounter with LS was in 1983, with " Tuesday's gone" on my radio.
Relay. When live is so much better than any record you know its real and from the heart down to earth good music.
You should watch them on the old grey whistle test man, its unreal
Gone but never forgotten rip bro
I was there down on the green and near the front. We were packed in like sardines, it was hot and we were sunburned. Little did I know back then just how much this would hit the feels decades later, I get chills every time recalling this memory.
Shredding begins at 6:22 for damn near 4 minutes. So awesome. Jealous of anyone who got to see this live. 😊
Absolutely melts the guitar insane
Bassist included
My mind is completely BLOWN. I was 16 years old when this happened, and was devastated after the plane crash. I can't believe the clarity in the video and audio as well! This is an amazing job, just incredible.

Woah they died in a plane crash. That’s sad
Today youngsters will never imaging what we lived, how we lived, a time with hope, a time with future ....
They can never imagine because we allowed it to be taken away.
Most feel-good video on RUclips. Everyone is happy, everyone is beautiful. One of the best songs ever is playing. Ronnie is standing there alive with his Neil Young t-shirt. I wish I was alive during that time.
I agree.
"I hope Neil Young will remember, Southern Man don't need him around anyhow"
This has to be the SHARPEST, CLEAREST video of Lynyrd Skynyrd ever!!!!! The quality is AWESOME!
agreed
Absolutely!!!!!!
Too vibrant and saturated. I was there.
@@Gromit801 that's what I'm talking about! ZERO filter ;-)
the simulation's graphics are life-like aren't they!?
That looked like one hell of a day. Absolutely superb. Something the young people of today will never ever witness. Peace and love ❤.
