Baked beans sandwich is good to my mom made great baked beans and it had onion and bacon in it then the next day we had them on sandwiches we ate a lot of vegetable sandwiches we also put coleslaw on our hamburger we also put sourkraut on a lot of sandwiches too great memories come back every time I watch this
I also love cabbage and this looks delicious! I would love a video where you share how to maintain a happy and cooperative marriage. You two definitely have wisdom to share.❤
Yummy! I love cabbage and look forward to try this - thank you. When I was growing up, we had creamed peas on toast, which was delicious too. Thank you for all your great recipes. I really enjoy your channel! 👏🏼💐
Our go-to food when my father was unemployed was curried butter bean and potato on toast. This is still a family favourite, either hot or cold on toast or as a salad, especially at BBQs ... YUM!
Grandma you always post such yummy recipes, I love cabbage and I am making this over the weekend, can't wait to try it thank you for another delicious recipe love to you Grandma and Grandpa and the kitty's too ❤,since Halloween is right around the corner, do you have any Halloween themed recipes you would like to share with everyone? I love Halloween time, the smells in the air and cooler weather 👻🎃
Hi Diane I hope you enjoy this meal when you make it over the weekend. We also love cabbage and like to prepare it in all different ways. Thank you so much for watching ❤️Grandma👩🏻 Grandpa👨🍳& Kittys🐈🐈
Hi Grandma & Grandpa, This sounds like a delicious idea Grandma! How about some variations? Perhaps adding some grated cheese to the cream sauce or drained tuna. Please send meows to Marty & Sophia from my house panthers Pyewacket & Mama Gillian!
Hi I do have a video on making Creamed Tuna On Toast. I grew up eating this meal often and it still is one of my favorites. Thank you so much for watching and love to you Pyewacket & Mama Gillian Grandma👩🏻 Grandpa👨🍳 Marty🐈 & Sophia 🐈
You did it again Grandma, great meal. I’m so use to making frozen carrots and peas with cream sauce on toast. This looks awesome as we love cabbage. We also don’t add salt gas it must be a senior citizen thing 😂. Just an idea, add a couple of drops of lemon in your dishes and you will get that enhanced flavor that salt gives. Hope all is well with both of you and say hi to grandpa. Getting ready for Holloween. 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 I’ll make some s’mores for the holiday with some hot chocolate with miniature marshmallows. Yum❤
Some form of acid (lemon, lime, vinegar, etc.), hot sauce, and herbs/seasonings (thyme, rosemary, various types of pepper [black, cayenne, red flakes, etc.] are great substitutes for salt. The acid and tingly pepper on your tongue especially give a similar mouth feel to the salt. PS, somewhat related pet peeve of mine: flavored potato chips are nearly inedible to me, give a waaayyyyy too salty feeling, because they don't reduce the amount of salt when adding other flavors such as vinegar, dill pickle, BBQ, etc. Wake up, chip manufacturers! Save us some sodium, and save you some manufacturing cost!
Hi George I definitely would eat peas and carrots in creamed sauce but Grandpa hates peas. We love cabbage also and like to prepare it in all different ways. If you try this meal I hope you enjoy it as much as Grandpa and I do. Yes we are getting ready for Halloween but we never know how many will come trick or treating. Some years we have so many kids and others years not as many. I know this year they are telling the kids not to go out when it gets dark. Have a Happy Halloween and stay safe❤️Grandma👩🏻& Grandpa👨🍳
Hi Grandma, if I made this with the baby spinach, one package could I cut the sauce recipe in half without any problems. I would just eat it, my husband has the same lunch every day, ham, swiss and mayo. Won't eat any leftovers from dinner unless it's a London broil. So I would be eating it myself. Thanks again for sharing these recipes they are pretty wonderful. Stay well and safe.
Hi I am not positive how it will come out if you cut the sauce recipe in half but you can try it. I myself love the sauce so if I had more sauce I would like it. If you like tuna you could always add it with the spinach. Thank you so much for watching❤️Grandma🐱 & Grandpa🧟♂️
Thank you Grandma, maybe I'll add 2 baby spinach and make all the sauce and have leftovers for breakfast or lunch. Thanks for your quick response. Happy Halloween🎃🎃 Stay well and safe.❤
I’m ready to go out tomorrow and get a head of cabbage. Thank you grandma for the recipe. Hope all is well with you and grandpa. Be well, be safe, God Bless.
👻🎃 Happy Halloween Grandma and Grandpa! That looks terrific! I eat a lot cabbage in the fall and winter. I'll have to try this. Would be exceptional with spinach and a touch of nutmeg . Thanks for sharing?🎃👻🧡
I have made creamed spinach and it is delicious. I am glad you will be trying this recipe. Thank you for always watching. Happy Halloween❤️Grandma👩🏻&❤️Grandpa👨🍳
I've never seen a cream sauce made without butter. The egg yolks must make it rich and tasty. My family had chickens and a lot of eggs during the depression. My Gradma made sponge cakes with a thin filling and rolled it up. Thank you for sharing your recipes with us. ❤❤❤
During the Great Depression people would make meals with whatever ingredients they had available. Amazing that all the meals are so delicious. Thank you so much for watching❤️Grandma👩🏻
This looks delicious, Grandma, I'm sure I would love it. I also love your Haluski and make it quite often. If you made this with baby spinach, would you have to drain the juice it leaves in the pan before adding it to the cream sauce? Thanks for sharing. Stay well and safe.
When making with baby spinach I would definitely drain the juice it leaves in the pan before adding the cream sauce. Glad you love the Haluski recipe. Thank you so much for watching and have a good night❤️Grandma👩🏻
Well, Grandma, I'm not sure what to think of this one. I love cabbage, I love cream sauce, but I'm not sure I'd eat them together, especially since I don't have bread in the house, and since I love sauteed cabbage in garlic and oil so much. Cabbage is so good with pork items (kielbasa is a favorite this time of year), and it's a simpler one-pot preparation without making a white sauce. Fewer dishes to wash makes me happy! Hugs to you, Grandpa, and the kitties!
Hi Patricia I know this recipe is not for everyone. Grandpa and I love cabbage so we eat it all different ways. We love kielbasa with cabbage but we really don’t eat much meat. We prefer meatless meals. We have kielbasa always for Easter because that is our tradition. Sautéed cabbage in garlic and oil is so good. Hope you are doing well and ready for Halloween. We never know how many will come to the door especially this year. Have a good night and take care❤️Grandma👩🏻&Grandpa👨🍳
I was looking for drepression dressing recipe and came upon your video and it looked so delicious I made it this evening for dinner and I followed your process to the T except I fried my cabbage a little longer till it just started to brown the edges and it was sooo good . Thank you for sharing this I will be making this again
we would steam the cabbage. takes a lot less water and saves some nutrients but it looks like a pretty easy recipe. I would also whisk in some cheese to the cream sauce. good base recipe though you could do a lot of adaptations to this to make it your own.
Weird, I just watched a video about a very similar dish from around the same time, I didn't know what language the video and comments were in I assume somewhere in eastern Europe, they basically boiled the cabbage in the milk and thickened it with flour, didn't see any eggs. They served it over bread also.
What a coincidence that you just watched a similar video. We hope are doing well. We are preparing for Halloween on the 31st. We never know how many will be out trick or treating. Some years we have a lot of kids and other years not so many. Have a nice day.❤️Grandma👩🏻& Grandpa👨🍳

One of my favorite sandwiches when I was growing up
Baked beans on Saturdays was tradition for many Maine folks. My grandmother loved cold beans on toast for Sunday breakfast.
I love the simplicity of your meals and how economical they are. I feel like this is something I could make and enjoy. Thank you.
