The 2.3 tons of the rimac wont help when trying to achieve lap time records. Even the Ferrari with 1/10th of the price of the rimac would probably win a track race
I think what helped the Ferrari at first is the instant torque from its electric motors, but the Rimac being fully electric doesn’t take long to overpass.
I thought that was the best possible reaction to a Rimac until I saw this video. Matt had multiple crisis' in that 1st launch. And then the rolling race lmao he was taken by G's of surprise.
Because he knows that despite it being the unofficial record, 8.6 is still slow compared to what the car can do on a drag strip with semi slick tires. :)

@Nic Sauter nevera still has a better power to weight ratio. Also the faster a car is traveling, the less weight it has. One more thing to remember is once the Ferrari reaches 210 Km/h the front axle motors turn off so it’s not quite 1000 hp all the time

What’s surprising to me is that the Rimac isn’t actually “that” much heavier. Being a pure EV on that level of performance i’d assumed it was more than those 380ish Kilos. Matt and Rimac really managed something astonishing with that car, Record setting stats across the board, that combined, where previously thought to be impossible. Mate Rimac is a legend already. What he has achieved is incredible. He and Christian von Koenigsegg are two superheros of the car world. Also, in every video I've seen of him, he comes across as an enthusiastic fun guy to be around.

@Nic Sauter nevera still has a better power to weight ratio. Also the faster a car is traveling, the less weight it has. One more thing to remember is once the Ferrari reaches 210 Km/h the front axle motors turn off so it’s not quite 1000 hp all the time

However, nobody seems to be talking about the brake-test and that's what really stood out to me as totally insane. About 400kg heavier, yet still about the same stopping distance? What’s surprising to me is that the Rimac isn’t actually “that” much heavier. Being a pure EV on that level of performance i’d assumed it was more than those 380ish Kilos.
Matt and Rimac really managed something astonishing with that car, Record setting stats across the board, that combined, where previously thought to be impossible. But the Boss himself is out there proving that they didn’t settle for any compromises.

Small tuning shops can modify a GTR that does 7 seconds in the quarter mile. Rimac is making a 2 million dollar hypercar, Ferrari isn’t competing with them. It has 2x the horsepower. That’s like Ferrari being proud it’s faster than a BMW M3 lmaoo.
Besides, no one has tested the Rimac around a circuit. That’s where you see balance and the strength of the chassis, along with aerodynamics and mechanical grip. Ferrari would most likely obliterate this thing on a circuit-Rimac was made to go fast in a straight line. This video was essentially a paid promotion by Rimac. Even their CEO was there, LMAO.
