    Bloody transmissions, yeah we had all kinds of trouble with the stock trans in the Trolvo. We went overkill with the Turbo 400 but it works perfect now

      what goes in the vl for cheap?

    • @STREETMACHINETV
      @STREETMACHINETV Год назад +1

      @TURBOTRISTO when it comes to transmissions, nothing is cheap. C4/C10 seems to be a popular choice, I know our T400 is bulletproof but neither will be cheap.

    Bud, I love your content, and while I have commented before many times, none of my comments ever contain any intended hate or disrespect in any way. I had a 1997 EJ8 Civic coupe that I had swapped a D16Z6 VTEC head onto the original JDM D15B 3 Stage VTEC engine block (that originally came with a D16Y7 non-VTEC head on it because the kid that I bought it off of thought that he was getting a deal, but the guy that he bought the engine off of took the D15B head and put it on his D16Y7 block creating a mini-me and put his Y7 head on the D15B block and sold it as a running D15B VTEC engine). The kid rebuilt EVERYTHING in the engine and couldn't figure out why it ran like crap. I gave him $1000 for it with absolutely no rust and I live in the US near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, so most older cars (especially Hondas) are completely wrecked or rusted out. I yanked the Y7 head and swapped it for a $150 Z6 head. I drove it for a week or so, ordered a SOHC VTEC partial turbo kit from eBay (63 trim T3/T4 turbo, manifold, downpipe for $450), I bought a set of DSM 440cc injectors, an injector resistor box, a virgin P28 ECU that I socketed and chipped with a Xenocron basemap and kit, an eBay bar and fin intercooler, a piping kit, and I rocked it. I made 257 whp at 12 psi and it was SO much fun. I then swapped in a B18B1 from an Integra with an Integra GSR transmission and it was deadly. That car pulled SO hard with the same eBay turbo (besides a new manifold) and I destroyed modified cars with it. That first B18B1 spun a bearing and I bought a junkyard engine that only had 88,000 miles on it, tore it apart, put NPR rings in it (gapped for boost), new ACL Race main and rod bearings, and I put BC Stage 2 Turbo cams in the head, dual valve springs with titanium retainers, a Skunk2 Street intake manifold, a Skunk2 70mm throttle body, and 660cc Siemens injectors, and my buddy put a road tune on it that put down 412 whp at 15 psi on 93 octane pump gas on a DynoJet dynamometer. I ended up putting fully forged internals in that block with a PR3 CTR head with EVERYTHING from Skunk2 bolted into and to it, and it made 709 whp at 34 psi on a GTS3582 dual ball bearing turbo with a billet compressor wheel. Your Civic builds are what attracted me to your channel, but I love all imports and building cars that most people won't. Thank you Tristan!

      @TURBOTRISTO  Год назад +3

      Wow yes it sure is a novel, yeah I see most usa cars are very rusty it’s really sad we don’t have that problem at all really, it sounds like with a tone of effort and patience you can make a tough street /track car that is heaps of power and it would be scary as hell to drive, also I respond to all comments mate I haven’t seen any from
      You that I remember but thanks for watching and keep with it, the car sounds like a blast

    Man i commented on your vid when u first started this build and spoke about the Jatco. Well since then i turbod my r31 and the jatco ..shatco.. mine dont even hold 6psi. So looking for a c4 or maybe even a 4L60. Turbo 350 or 400 are but only a distant dream.

    • @TURBOTRISTO
      @TURBOTRISTO  Год назад +1

      My Jatco actually holds when its cold, I took it for a run last week, and it revs out to 7 and holds 15psi all day, I'm guessing its close to 280kW

    pitty about the gearbox slipping, also you are gonna find that exhaust housing a restriction when you wanna turn it up on e85

    • @TURBOTRISTO
      @TURBOTRISTO  Год назад +2

      I Honestly think 250kW in a street VL is probably too much power or at the limit of whats needed/useable , and for general driving the trans doesnt slip at all not even when its hot, being on a dyno creates extra heat and load not normally felt on the road

    • @929cosmodude
      @929cosmodude Год назад +1

      @@TURBOTRISTO 250 goes ok in a vl, 300kw gets you into 10s in a vl, I probably wouldnt bother with the e85 if you are chasing 250, that would be easy with pump fuel and that exhaust housing, I tuned a vl with a gt35 with the .8 year, 337rwkw was about the safe limit on 98 for that car, went low 10s

    • @TURBOTRISTO
      @TURBOTRISTO  Год назад +2

      @929cosmodude all facts man, we where going to turn it right up to see what it would make, it’s a shame I ran out of coin to put a decent box in it
      I made 520kw at the wheels in an rb26 with a 3582 and a 1.06 rear the .82 is smaller yes but not that much

    • @929cosmodude
      @929cosmodude Год назад +1

      @@TURBOTRISTO good power hey, the .8 would have made more but was on pump fuel, I definitely understand what you mean about gearboxes being expensive, a vl I street tune is in the exact same predicament, but goes good for the budget, has a maxpeedingrod gt30 on it, good luck with the build 👌

    • @TURBOTRISTO
      @TURBOTRISTO  Год назад +2

      i swapped it for an evo recently hahaha on to bigger things, maxpeeding turbos are soso, i have a gt3076r on my k24 it makes 280kw on 12psi on e85 its fine, the exhaust housing is way to small but i dont want too much power in that car, so the restriction helps, the maxpeedingrods con rods are awesome i have them in the rb30 they manufacture manley rods and spool rods, i know a guy in Sydney is running 7s on spool rods aka maxpeedingrods rods, i will put them in my kseries and in my 4g63, but i think the minimum turbo i will use will be a pulsar they are awesome value for money

    Oh, you bumped up to 50fps? Neat. I think you should clean your lens, though. Cameras aren't supposed to have astigmatism (lights look like starbursts). Another thing, though. If you want to save some hard drive/SD card space and possibly make editing faster, you can switch your camera to NTSC mode and shoot 30fps. The only thing you have to do it engage "shutter priority" mode to the auto exposure and set/lock your shutter speed manually to 1/50th of a second, otherwise your shop lights will visibly flicker on camera due to your 50hz power line frequency in Australia.
    Another general practice to consider is to set the minimum and maximum ISO to 50/100 (whatever's lowest) and roughly 1600 respectively, and set your auto exposure bias to -0.5 or -1.0 so your highlights aren't overblown. Also, if you want to stick with 50fps for personal reasons, you should still do the thing with shutter priority mode and setting/locking your shutter speed manually, but for 50fps do it at 1/60th of a second, This way you get more natural looking motion blur in your footage, as well as increase your low-light capabilities.
    You might have to get an ND filter for your camera to shoot outside, though. Do a bit of research on that on your own as far as which ones are good quality, but a simple ND16 should typically be enough for all but the brightest and most searing of conditions. If you buy two, then an ND8(indoors) and an ND32(outdoors) are likely going to be the move. Like I said, do your own research in that regard.
