Yeah exactly! Like I find when I'm crocheting the same stitch over and over again I can't go too fast even though I could because otherwise I keep splitting the wool with my hook
I started today and honestly just making the first chain was so hard! Everyone makes it look easy 😭 This was like two months ago ..I can chain now 😂 but thanks for all the nice comments 💕 I’ve also made a lot of things like bags, hats, clothing etc thanks to this channel and a few different ones. (a few people said chaining was easy for them. it was the tension of my chain I was having trouble with. It would be tight in some places and the rest a mess 😂)
I know right like I just started this month and can only do simple chains and crochets and even then there are always mistakes everywhere 😭 I have tried to make cute moons and just granny squares and such but it’s no use it’s soooo hard 😭😭😭 but at least I’m getting better.
The key is not to think about it. Just pretend you can totally go fast and pray. It's like a kid getting hurt on the playground. They're not hurt until you act like they're hurt. You can crochet/knit fast until you start doubting that you can. Schrodingers loops or something idk
Istg I can crochet fast without looking at what I'm doing while watching a show without skipping ONE single stitch, as soon as I wonder how I'm doing this in autopilot so well and look down, when I try to go back to the pace I was at without looking I start fucking up, it's like as soon as I acknowledge what I was doing it's gone
@@kaboomsihal1164 i guess that sort of works. im both a beginner and a master crocheter at the same time until i start thinking about how good i actually am
I’ve been crocheting for 49 years. My first project was a granny square pillow consisting of 4 squares (4 rows) and single crocheted together on the front and 1 big square for the back. I gave it to my Mom. It was still on her sofa when she passed away 3 years ago so it’s back in my collection of pillows.
That’s really sweet, and maybe you can pass the pillow on to your child or niece (etc), too, someday, once they’re old enough to understand why it’s so special. A sentimental person is a kind person to me, so I’m sure your mother was a wonderful woman. Condolences for your loss, and may she RIP until you meet again one day ❤😊 And PS- I just started crocheting only a few days ago, and I’m starting to get the hang of it… but still, seeing you’ve done it for 49 years gave me hope that I’ll keep getting better and continue doing it and then, someday it’ll be me on here (or on some weird future-app haha) commenting about how I’ve been at it for decades, so… thanks for the unintentional motivation! 😅
Aww that is a beautiful story 🥹♥️. I wish if I kept my first project too. It’s been 14 years since I’ve started crocheting. My first project was a phone cover 🥹.. I gift it to my friend, and we no longer have any connection with each other 🥹.
I remembered the first time I started crocheting my hands are trembling and sweating 😭😂 But as time goes on and the more you do it eventually it will feel like a breeze ❤❤❤ Good luck to everyone who started! 🎉
Fast is really not helpful. When I go slow I find that I get my rows done much faster, the stitches are even and they look just the way I want them. When I go fast I get tense and when I go slow I can relax. Sometimes I pick up my speed but I feel like my mind has gone away from my project when I do that.
Remember you are doing it for your pleasure not anyone else’s it’s your hobby & maybe one day you will be thrilled with yourself as you finish making something you’re happy with it’s not a race it’s your fun time 😊❤
Just enjoy the process 😉. Crocheting meant to be a relaxing and peaceful hobby to return to when you need it 😍, so don’t stress yourself over the speed. Whether you are fast or slow, just let it be and enjoy the moment 😍.. Believe me you will be so proud and super happy of your finished project that will let you forget about the time spent on it and the tiredness 😅.
My speed was in the negative when I started crocheting cause I had to redo almost every stitch I made because I either messed up or the size was inconsistent, but now I’m pretty fast and efficient.

I can crochet faster then what I do . I more or less just enjoy when I’ve finally finished my project I was working on . To anyone learning don’t think crocheting super fast is easier or better then taking your time , you make more mistakes and have to redo more stitches when you speed through a project. You’ll find your rhythm in how you hold the string and the crochet hook and how fast works best for you ! Tips for holding the hook play around with it and go for whatever feels best to your hand … I use to hold mind like a pen and found I actually do better and it’s more comfortable for me to hold it with the side of my index finger and thumb and let it rest in my hand , I also don’t hold the yarn as shown in most videos , I just do what’s best fits me and I’ve made some really beautiful projects!
