Are there any 3rd party reviews for these wheels? I'd really love to hear from a daily wheelchair user about their experience with these wheels before I drop $2k on a pair of wheels.
Great question! When considering solid tires for Carbon rims, it's important to note that they require both extra force during installation, which could potentially damage the rims, and precise measurement compatibility between the rim and tire, which can be challenging to find. Instead, we recommend the Continental Gatorskin tire. It integrates three advanced flat protection technologies into a fast-rolling, durable tire, offering exceptional flat protection and performance without risking damage to your rims or the complexities associated with solid tire installation.
@@qksmith I appreciate what you're saying and as some who is an experienced bicycle mechanic and has maintained a wheelchair user's equipment for 20+ years, I understand why you're so emphatic. But, step back and consider a possible use case. Solid tires solve a very real problem for someone wanting complete independence and is concerned about flat tires. I know that a Conti tire is really robust. I've ridden with Gatorskins and I know what they can handle. But, I would have to convince the person using this rim to switch back to a tubed tire and that's scary for them. They've been trapped with flat tires and don't want that. But, they also want a more comfortable experience and they do want lower weight when moving a chair into a car. So, saying "you don't need high performance carbon rims if you use solid tires" is frankly short-sighted thinking. Again, I get why you're saying it, but maybe start with a little curiosity and ask why someone might want that setup... you might learn something. And, it keeps you from, you know... assuming.
@@ChrisMcQueen no question but solids are a a major compromise in every other respect. feel, weight and performance are all out the window. if punctures are your number 1 stress then go for it. but don’t pretend you need carbon rims.

@@Bowhead thanks, bolt on push rims are the biggest barrier to changing the wheel paradigm. spinergy flex rims are the closest to changing this. even so, collect all the 6 bolts and nuts x2 and see what the potential saving could be.
why stainless steel hub? why not carbon fibre or titanium? are the spokes stainless too?

Thank @@Bowhead . I've used Gatorskins and definitely found they are a good tire that holds up over rough stuff. Thanks for the insight.
