    can’t believe i haven’t heard anyone mention how bridges is worth 5 picks PARTLY BECAUSE HIS SALARY IS LOW. HES MAKING 20 mill less PER YEAR than OG a comparable player. when you make a trade you’re acquiring both the player AND HIS CONTRACT. ITS GOOD VALUE

    Why is everyone missing the important details. It isn’t just 5 first-round picks for Mikal, it’s 5 first-round picks and a 35 year old in order to get a young up-coming star from your crosstown rival without giving up any of your young core. Timberwolves traded 5 picks and 4 players for Gobert. Suns traded 3 players and 5 picks for Durant. Cavs traded 5 picks and 3 players for d Mitch. The Knicks traded 5 picks and 1 aging star to keep their depth and get a player with better shooting and defense.

      Masai ain't know fool he new after OG rejected the 4/117M extension it was time to use him as a trade trip so he didn't lose him for nothing in a bidding war at FA b/c he was not going to overpaid for him. He saw IQ as a Maxey type guard both from Kentucky who will be good to play with Scottie & did the right thing & got RJ who looks way better in Raps system + 31st pick who happened to a prototype like Scortie & literally is friend, Mgobo. Pascal trade was fair for an expiring contract 3 FRPs, Bruce Brown( will know tomorrow what happens), Kira & Nwora. He then traded Kira,OPJ + 1FRP (29 pick this yr) for Olynk + Ochai (8 pick). Good deal. Team is not hard cap. Like the trade Masai did w/ Sac earlier today ( Davion, Vezkenov+45pick (Shead- a dawg on defense) + 2025 SRP ( Blazers pick) for Jalen MacDaniels. Then they drafted the 18yr old kid Ulrich Comche ( Africa Academy) good physical tool w/lots of upsides. Love what Masai is doing. Scottie will shock the world again next yr. His vision, IQ , work ethic & competitive drive is off the wall. His shooting has gotten better from yr 1 to yr 3.

    Teams who are at the aprons or about to jump into second are going to start emulating this idea - All those teams are trying to get rid of their firsts anyways, why not convert them into a core player. Yes that many firsts is too much for bridges in a vaccum, but when you look at it from the full picture - where the knicks are, what they need to truly compete with Celtics/contend, and the realities of the CBA... This is a great move.
    I'm a Celtics fan so take it with a grain of salt, but I don't think its enough to beat the Celtics at least next year. Both these teams have now put their feet in the mud so to speak.. Neither team will change significantly over the next 4 years or so. I think once horford retires and Jrue starts to decline, that scale might tip in favor of the knicks. Will be fun to watch.

    Love the Lowe post but I have to disagree with his take on all this. I understand Mikal Bridges isn't a superstar and gonna be the "guy" on the Knicks but he's the last piece they needed to be true contenders. This is coming from a Pacers fan btw who if I had known bridges was actually available I would have been all for my pacers giving up a couple young guys and picks for him because he woulda been our last piece too. Does this mean they're necessarily locks to win the East? No hell Boston is still top dog until further notice but I am well aware that new york is unequivocally the second best team in the east now and those firsts they traded away don't even mean much IMO. What are they gonna do with the 26th pick in the draft the next few years? Because that's how good they're gonna be..so anyways I think this isn't as "clever" a trade for the nets as people make out...if anything they did that was clever it was get their own pick back...idk what the hell the rockets were thinking sending that back to them tbh. But anyway I don't think this move is gonna be as fruitful for the nets as everyone thinks and I very strongly believe the Knicks will be in at least the ECF sometime in the next couple years barring crazy injuries or something. If they move Randle and get back some draft equity or another big man that can shoot kinda piece or something like that then I'd actually say the Knicks had the best off season I could have possibly imagined them having in my mind.

    • @nickgilday8946
      @nickgilday8946 3 дня назад +3

      Celtic fan here... So in a vaccum he's right that this many firsts is crazy. BUT when you think about the apron, you think about teams at that second apron... I think this is genius. You're not gonna want back end first round players anyways, and you certainly don't want to pay 9 mil for them and just keep adding to your luxury tax etc. So... if you control your core for the next 4 or so years... might as well go for it. Who cares? You're not losing anything if your the knicks.. you were gonna try to trade those firsts to get seconds anyways.
      So at face value, yea bridges for that haul is nuts. But when you factor the business end and the ramifications/realities of the new CBA, I think the knicks are just spearheading a new trend - "almost there" teams who are looking at going over the second apron and saying "f it" lets give our firsts, however many it takes, and secure the team we are gonna roll with for the next 3-5 years.
      All that said... I don't think tis enough to beat a HEALTHY Celtics team. I do think it puts the knicks securely in the "formidable" opponent range where nobody would be super surprised if they won... but all in all I think bridges and OG aren't stopping the Jays from doing what they do, and the celtics will still mostly operate how they want. The knicks will have a lot to say about it and the Celtics will have to play to their peak, but at least for next year I got Celtics... Once horford is gone and Jrue is on the decline... then we we can start talking about being truly fearful of the knicks.

    Knicks
    Congratulations you actually made some smart moves and you definitely surpassed the sixers and the bucks on depth.
    Bridges- at this point you could say bridges is probably your SG id say he is a top 10 SG in the NBA . Premier defender who can guard 1-3. This protects brunson on def. He has improved his scoring I think he may be underrated there not saying he is a #1 but, you get a younger jrue Holiday type
    Not as much of a play maker but has more size.
    OG Annunoby
    Not sure I think he is a 200 mill player. But he could turn out to be your second best player on the team. Athletic can defend shoot and has developed a better handle to help the offensive tempo and flow. Both he and bridges fit the def mentality of the head coach. Id rather have him at 200 mill than say PG13 going forward because he is the better defender and although PG can score between the 2-3 position there are at least 12 players id rather have be my leading or second leading scorer so I like the timeline of the two wings.
    Randle and Robinson
    I think healthy the Knicks don't have better offensive threats than Tatum or brown but you could slow them down now and play a team based off with only one lead scorer and everyone else plays off him. Randle definitely need guys besides brunson who could relieve the pressure of scoring in the playoffs now you have two wings to help and Robinson now becomes trade bate. Hartiensteien played well obviously he will probably go somewhere else for more $ but id look to see if they can maybe move off Robinson bring him back . Possibly you could now move off randle.
    I give the Knicks an A for off-season moves

    New York wins ONE playoff series in the last twenty years or whatever it is. And one could argue that injuries played a big role in this victory. Anyway, because they won ONE playoff series, we are all going to have to hear all summer long how the Knicks are championship contenders. Amazing!
    (Note: Tommy T is going to have to show that he doesn't just squeeze his players to death to overachieve for a year or two. Right now, there is no evidence that it is going to be any different. Look at the minutes he played his guys in the playoff. I am not surprised the Knicks overachieved last year. I am not surprised at all. Now what would surprise me is if he built a real, long-term (3-5 years) contender. In fact, I would be shocked if he did this)

      Do you watch basketball? They won the first round in the last two years and they only lost to the Pacers due to injuries. They were depleted.

    • @FalloutWandererBuilds
      @FalloutWandererBuilds 3 дня назад +1

      You’re just repeating what you heard someone else say. Half the team was hurt, somebody had to play the minutes. He used what he had, and did pretty well considering the circumstances. If the Knicks manage to stay healthy this season they will be in the conference finals minimum

    • @liferealgood
      @liferealgood 2 дня назад

      You couldn’t be more wrong. They beat the Sixers this postseason and the Cavs the postseason prior. Also both teams were dealing with injuries in the first round. Embiid was hurt but the Knicks didn’t have Randle or Bogan. Then they were 2-0 or 2-1 on the Pacers before OG injury. Series easily could’ve been over in six if OG didn’t get hurt.

    • @dprestons0318
      @dprestons0318 2 дня назад

       @liferealgood Good point about the earlier victories. It just felt like 20 years. I hear what you are saying. But I still think there is a motivation for the knicks to be good that creeps in. As a result, we are going to be told that they are a championship level team. Is the overachieve narrative wrong? Is that not what we saw in large part?
      Brunson shooting 30 times a game has a half life, no? Teams will figure that out? What do they have after that? Maybe if Randall comes back, they will have a second option player who can create his own shot. That is till not a lot.
      Maybe answer this question for me. Why are people convinced that Knicks are better than say---I don't know--the Pacers. Have they shown us they are or is there simply an outsized reaction to the Knicks?
