Very well could've been ram. There is a ram test you can do on installed ram from the boot menu, off a flashdrive. Do that first. That would tell you if it was bad or not. ETA Prime, I watch all of your videos and love your content. One thing that would help massively is if you included the price of the item you review. Or even if you just mention it in the description or a pinned comment. I am frequently searching for a product listing online just so I can get some contexts for the product you're reviewing. The price of an item is probably the most important piece of information. Great performance at $400 is very different than great performance at $1500.
i totally agree, maybe because it's quite pricey imho. I did a short search and over here in Germany they ask 939,-€ for an ASUS ExpertCenter PN53-S7021MD, Ryzen 7 6800H, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD. After i found out, it's a pass for me.
The issue is that prices could vary wildly depending on where you are trying to buy it from. At best he would probably only mention US prices which might not be useful to those trying to purchase the device from other countries. Also, any pricing information would only be relevant for when the video comes out and could be different 6-12 (or more) months later. So you'd always need to research it's availability and price at that time.

The 2TB limit is physical thickness vs capacity. Standard (spinning) Hard Drives in the 2.5in size can get up to 2TB in the standard 7mm or 9mm thickness. There were specialty and SAS drives that come in thicker sizes, and the thinking was you could get capacities above 2TB if you can push above the 7 to 9mm thickness. Market never really went thicker on standard consumer drives. On the SSD side, the consumer drives stuck to 7mm, while enterprise and specialty drives went thicker. Samsung makes 4 and 8TB models, but then price is a factor. So ASUS is keeping it simple and saying 2TB to limit user to the right thickness.
ssd limit is 2tb cause 4tb ssd or more have chips on both sides which can touch the motherboard and cause short circuit. you can add 4tb ssd, it will run but there is always risk of short circuit.
Good review, but I really wish you'd try higher settings. Unless you're a pro gamer on an First Person Shooter, 40 fps is playable, unless you get stuttering. It's not like you have to play them all the way through like that yourself 😄 Plenty of games are playable under 60fps anyway. Also would be nice if you could measure the fan noise in db's, particularly under load. Some of these previous ASUS units could get pretty loud.
3:31 - 2TB limit is there because that's the highest capacity 2.5" 7mm hard drive you could buy. They never count on you getting a 8TB 2.5" SSD. So, yeah, it's not a hardware limit at all.
I see that nuphy air in thumbnail and I click like....of course great content. Btw have ur kb in wireless mode has gone crazy acting? ( double clicking...)
@ETA Prime, a downside for this platform: Only a maximum of 3 USB ports are usable at any one time. For example, if you plug the front 2 USB ports with some device and attempt to connect 2 of the 3 rear USB 3 ports, you will realise that you can only effectively use 1 rear of the 3 USB ports only.
2.5 inch hard drives are physically limited to 2TB because any more and it will need to add more platter, causing the drive to be thicker and not fit into many cases and laptops. But why would you use 2.5" hard drives over SSD anyway nowadays?
i disagree look at it closely barebones to barebones 2xm.2 with 1 2.5 ssd or get a 1m.2 and 1 2.5 for about the same price range also a lack of a display port or usb c as well makes that brand lacking
I'm willing to pay extra money for an ASUS product any day. I know I'll be able to pick up my phone and actually talk to someone about warranty issues.

Hello there. I love your videos because you have a very scientific method of testing. Can you tell me, of the tests you usually do, which is/are the best indicator of how a PC would perform while playing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020?

You channel is almost about to be a million subscribers
Has the landlord fixed your door yet?
3:31 - 2TB limit is there because that's the highest capacity 2.5" 7mm hard drive you could buy. They never count on you getting a 8TB 2.5" SSD. So, yeah, it's not a hardware limit at all.
I see that nuphy air in thumbnail and I click like....of course great content.
Btw have ur kb in wireless mode has gone crazy acting? ( double clicking...)
awsome device thats for Sure. i look forward to seeing all these new devices & Tech daily from you
@ETA Prime, a downside for this platform: Only a maximum of 3 USB ports are usable at any one time. For example, if you plug the front 2 USB ports with some device and attempt to connect 2 of the 3 rear USB 3 ports, you will realise that you can only effectively use 1 rear of the 3 USB ports only.
USB-C hub should work?
Why is that? Would you be able to use a usb-c hub for additional usb ports? Like a T3/T4 hub?
I'm not sure, but this might have more to do with the 100W power supply than the way the USB ports are wired.
@@nymusicman That makes sense!
@@nymusicman Didnt it come with a 150w psu?
999 thousand subss!!! 1 more left
Almost 1M subs !
What's the comparison with the Minisforum h99x/UM690 and the beelink GTR6?
are you sure about supporting 64GB of RAM? the manufacturer page you linked says "2 x SO-DIMM , DDR5-4800MHz memory (up to 16GB x 2)"
2.5 inch hard drives are physically limited to 2TB because any more and it will need to add more platter, causing the drive to be thicker and not fit into many cases and laptops. But why would you use 2.5" hard drives over SSD anyway nowadays?
These are crazy expensive compared to the Minisforum UM690.
They are listed for around $850 with 16gb RAM and 512 NVME SSD
At them prices better ger that one that looks like a console with a skull on it instead lmao.
It's probably be more expensive if you look at what it would cost in Canada.
i disagree look at it closely barebones to barebones 2xm.2 with 1 2.5 ssd or get a 1m.2 and 1 2.5 for about the same price range also a lack of a display port or usb c as well makes that brand lacking
I'm willing to pay extra money for an ASUS product any day. I know I'll be able to pick up my phone and actually talk to someone about warranty issues.
Finally! A USFF box with Ryzen and TB4 ON THE BACK!!! Nice work, Asus. Could you please test with Linux installs? I just want to know if it's going to be trollish like HP laptops and make it hard to use anything but Windows. Thanks!
I still think you should also measure the noise levels. Not so loud is not really specific.
I had an HP SFF with a Ryzen 5 2400U and my son liked it, but it just wasn't great for Fortnite, so I found an SER5 with a 5560U and that is much better. This one is still too expensive for me, but I do appreciate you reviewing it.
Just curious for 7000 cpus with igpu for desktop and laptops. I am sure this channel will be the first to release them on RUclips. Better subscribe to not miss.
Best waiting for RDNA3 iGPU those Mini PC has hit their limits now
No 2TB limit on the 2.5" SATA drive, it's just the fact that any HDD bigger than 2TB will have 15mm height - they won't fit.
i've always wanted to have these tiny PC's even before. Asus always making it enticing every time.
Damn ur almost 1m subs my brotha
This is pretty much my laptop but in mini desktop form lol so cute
Impressive... great way to downsize your gaming rig... mini pc plus egpu.
Nice, but I really wish more of these came with an additional Ethernet interface. My needs are for low power network attached nodes, not little gaming boxes. Then again, I am probably not the target market.
These are really right at that point that once they're just a little more powerful I can see myself picking one of these up. So once we see some 7000 series mini pcs I can totally see myself picking one up.
You test so many mini pc that I WISH you have another channel and test this PC with, render times in adobe and davinci, RAR compression, Topaz Gigapixel from 2k to 4k , etc....
Are these mini pcs really just laptops with no monitor & keyboard? Do they legitimately compare well to desktops?
I am seeing different info on the maximum DDR5 RAM this unit can take. The ASUS website says 16GBx2 (32GB) but everyone selling it says it is 32GBx2 (64GB). He also says in this video it is 64GB max. So is the max 32GB or 64GB?
wow $629 WITHOUT ram WITHOUT storage. I could probably get a 6800h laptop for that price WITH ram WITH storage!
90 watts is kind of amazing for this level of performance.
You should do a minisforum UM690 (6900hx) vs Mac Mini M2 Comparison!!
@Garrus Vakarian Mac mini M2 starts at $599
Wow beautiful main board is black not green❤️😁🥰
thanks for this video, but please we need DB measurements.
Hello there. I love your videos because you have a very scientific method of testing. Can you tell me, of the tests you usually do, which is/are the best indicator of how a PC would perform while playing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020?
That is pretty close to my old system, now my wife's, with a Strix 970 GTX in it. Dang.
Nice small performer, but if you waited up until this day, wait a little longer until mid/second half of this year for mobile Ryzen 7000 series. That would be much more impressive.
It would be a never ending cycle lol. These 6000 ones just came out the end of last year lol.
@@travislowrider6623 it is. The only relatively decent solution is to spend more to buy one the newest one at launch. Then you can enjoy it a bit longer while having an expensive "boner" 😅
@@ryutenmen or just be satisfied with 1080p and egpus for games that need it lol
