Was fun to take out, and it did sound good, so looking forward to my 1200 with its termi pipes,Got some fun test rides coming up, hopefully V4 on sat if weather is ok then the 1260 Multi, roll on nice weather 😜
I'm looking around for a 821, but all the dealers are 100, 150 miles away though. thanks for the great videos and cheers. I look forward to your ride on the V4.
I disagree with one of your opinions: 110hp is a bit too much for a beginner for my experience....even though now, with all the electronics onboard, everything's much easier! Nice video btw...Loved it!
I think it would be ok if you keep it in rain mode however it wouldn’t be a good choice because as a new rider they’re bound to drop it. Get some good frame sliders and it should be ok.
Good video. Would be great if you didn't show us your helmet like every 3 seconds. We cannot see your face so it does not matter. Show us what you see instead. Especially when you are accelerating the bike. One question though, how fast does it go from 0 to 100 km/h in the different modes? Especially in sport mode Thanks in advance
Was using the camera facing me to cut to if I went a tad over the speed limit, that’s an old video and nowadays I have another forward mounted camera to use instead! Don’t know about the 0-100kph, but the power is only less in rain mode and same in other modes
Great test , I like you am interested in the 18 1200s monster, was in my local Ducati dealers today , they got a 17 plate in there , he saying no changes to the bike this year, it has the coloured screen, up shifter & auto blipper on it , I’m sure there are differences to it , can you help me with what you know cheers Paul
Hi Paul, the new face lift 1200 came out about a year ago, and as far as I’m aware they didn’t change anything for the 2018 model, Maybe they will do you a deal on that 2017 bike 👍🏍
I think it does have wheele protection, whenever Traction Control is set to higher than 1. I am a bit unsure now about the power of this bike, are you saying it has got not enough punch ? I think they say when you get the RPM above six k revs, the engine starts to really unfold some thrust....
Mate, the power is superb and even at low revs the power is pretty instant, way more then you could ever need on the road, even my little run out was great fun, cheers, GMAN 🍺
Thanks for clarification :) I got one of these in yellow on order. I was looking for a used 821, with around 3k miles last years model for around 7900ish quid, but found a dealer who claims he has loads of yellow 821's in yellow with 600 miles on them for exactly the same money. Seems these are the ones from the Ducati Press Event in Rimini where they were handed to the guests for the test ride.
No worries mate, if you can get an ex press bike at a great price then I think younger into a winner, it’s a superb bike and the little improvements like the colour tft and the separate foot pegs make all the difference 👍
Hi mate! Nice video, i have a monster 821 stripe and i al thinking switch to a panigale 959, what do you think, si worth It? I Need your advice, ty so much:)
Hey buddy, thanks for watching, it’s a big step going from a monster to a 959. Depends on what kid of riding you are doing, I loved my 959 but 99% of the time I love my Monster even more! If you can put up with the extreme position of the 959 and that your ass will fry in the summer then go for it! Next to test ride one and see what you think, also the power only really kicks in late in the Rev range unlike the monsters, I’m posting a video tonight of the 959 CORSE, let me know what you think of it, cheers, GMAN 👍
Hi! Thanks for the video! Will you recommend this bike as a first bike? I have already pass my safety test in Bulgaria and I have a full license but don't want to spend money and time for 300cc class and outgrow it after 6 months. I’m 34, 185 cm and 83 kgs, mature and not a wild head. I know that in urban mode the power is 75 HP but how is the torque….does it reduce the torque as well…my fear is that the bike has a lot torque and could catch me off guard as a new rider. Is it good at low speeds or the throttle is jerky? I think if I keep it in Urban for several months I will be OK and at later stage could proceed with Touring. Would you lease to share your two cents on the subject. Thanks in advance.
Hey buddy, I think the 821 would make a great first bike, I think you would find the power perfect and it has a very smooth throttle even in sport mode! And you can personalise the bike with loads of lovely carbon etc, as ever only a test ride will tell you what you want to know, happy bike buying! Cheers, Gman 🍺
Hi great review. I had been looking at the 821 as a first big bike. I am 42 6'2" and weigh 16st. So after your remarks I am now wondering if its too small. I have sat on a 1200 which felt big but a good fit. Is there any mileage in going for the 1200 and keeping it in Urban mode until I get more confident? Be interested in your thoughts.
Hi mate, I think the 821 is the same frame size as the 1200, if u can justify the cost of going for the 1200 over the 821 then I’d go for it as you will soon get used to the power and as you said you can keep it in urban mode to start with, but room wise I think both bikes are pretty much the same, check with Ducati as I may be wrong! Any other questions just let me know, cheers, GMAN 🍺
G-MAN'S Bikes & Bits Hi thanks for the reply. Your right, the sizing is identical on seat height at least. As for the cost, I would have to look for a dealer used example or a cracking pcp deal on new. I appreciate the comments about the power a lot of people have told to go for something with a smaller engine but people who know me say go for it! Prob because they know how boringly sensible I am! I am in between ducati dealers both of which are over an hour away. One is yours at Cambridge so might give them a look! Cheers.
Sounds a plan mate, if you go to Cambridge Ducati, ask for Will/John, please mention me (Grant) and say I said they will look after you, I’m sure they will add some juicy accessories at discounted price or some discount off the bike, let me know if you start striking a deal with them and I’ll put a good word in for you , contact me at gmansbikesandbits@gmail.com for future chat as more private than on here 👍
Had a demo on the 797 and thinking of buying one as my first big bike. It annoys me that Ducati has not put a gear shift indicator and fuel gauge on the bike, though the 821 has them. I thinks that’s poor.
Hi mate, it is annoying but I guess that save certain things for the more expensive models, although saying that the 821 has the same superb tft screen my 1200S has, if you can find a second hand 2017/2018 821 you would love it 😜
Nice review! I really want to buy a new Ducati M821, but I have a few questions you may answer: I have been riding a Yamaha R6 2001 mod for the last two years and after reading other reviews, iḿ a bit worried the M821 would be a bit too tame compared to what iḿ used to? Second; I live in Norway where the roads are not the best so maybe the M1200 would be too powerful ( I have never ridden a 1000cc bike before and the R6 still gives me heartbeat on high RPM). I want a bike that is fun to ride, looks good, with torque, comfortable and nice sound and thats why the Monster family appeals to me.
Hey buddy, I think you are on the right path thinking about getting a Monster, they are all the things you are wanting! I guess without a test ride you will not know if the 821 is fast enough, it has great low down torque but I thought it was missing a bit of top end power but I’ve always had 1000cc bikes so you may think it’s ok, Problem is once you rode the 1200 you would be in love with it’s amazing engine and the S model has superb ohlins which would help massively on your dodgy roads, have you seen my 1200S videos yets? Test ride as many models as you can and go for whatever you can afford, happy Monster riding, cheers, GMAN👍
Cool buddy, I rode both models of the 1200 and was totally won over by the ohlins as I said, Although thinking about it the 821 seemed to ride better than the standard 1200 for some odd reason 😬
Hi Stuart, thanks for watching! I think the 821 would make a perfect first bike, and yes I think in rain mode it has less power, but even in full power mode you would soon get used to it as it has a great spread of power through the Rev range and the throttle is super smooth, and this new model is a definite improvement over the previous one, I guess only a test ride will tell you what you want to know! Cheers, GMAN 🍺
I have a Monster 821 as my first "big" bike. It is not too powerful and you can turn it down to 75bhp by putting it in Urban mode if you want. I did this to start but after a week I had turned it up to Touring mode. Do a test ride. I rode the Monster 821 on test rides twice before I bought it and compared it to several other bikes on test rides (including Yamaha MT-07). There are a lot of good bikes out there, but this one felt right for me.
Good choose mate, I loved the 821 when I ride it, great step up the ladder to a more powerful bike! My next video will be about all the parts I’ve added to my 1200 Monster, great thing is that all the parts can be fitted to the 821 too, I get carried away as there’s some great extras to fit to the monster range, cheers, GMAN 🍺
Hey buddy! It feels a tiny bit lighter then the 1200 but not much smaller as they share most of their parts, I guess only riding the 2 back to back will tell you what you need to know! Although the 1200 is way more powerful and the 821 runs out of puff higher in the Rev range whilst the 1200 rips your arms off 😜
G-MAN,, appreciate ur reply. The 1000cc bike itch is being scratched by a 1000cc naked honda,, im looking for a 600-800cc bike for the drifts. Not literally but i want a bike to have fun with. The MT-07 is my no. 1 choice right now,, but i really like me a yellow 821,, plus it would be my 3rd ducati monster.
Cheers buddy, was guessing the spec as didn’t have much time to find out about the bike before I rode it, I thought it didn’t have a slipper clutch as it doesn’t have a clutch fluid resivour 😜
This guy has done no research about the bike and guessed everything during the test. It's all just his opinion. I'm Six foot two inches and the bike is fine. Find a real review on RUclips.
I make these videos for fun and dont give a crap what someone like you thinks, so suggest you jog on and find that proper review of the bike to satisfying your needs you muppet 🤣
Nice Review, but - the silencer, OMG! it's orrible! Looks like it's been stamped out of old baked bean tins and sounds the same! aftermarket opportunity for Akrapovic methinks!
Hey buddy, actually the 821 sounds great in person for a stock can, but would definitely benefit from an after market can, I’m fitting a termi to my 1200 Monster 👍
I think this is the best review I've seen so far, congrats
Cheers buddy, it was my practice run for the test ride I’m doing next week on the V4 👍
adrián ferrer I Heard this before many times bro
I have the 2017 version, and the bike comes alive past 5000 revs, loads of torque throughout the rev range of course
Mark With , it’s a great bike, wish they did the yellow on the 1200 😜
Fab. Love the yellow colour. You must be super excited waiting to get your 1200s though. Nearly there.
Yes buddy, I like the yellow too, very much excited to be getting the monster in March, hopefully by then the weather will be a bit better 😬
Looks a very nice Bike mate , was surprised by the sound of that stock can sounds very throaty, you will definitely have some good times on yours!!
Was fun to take out, and it did sound good, so looking forward to my 1200 with its termi pipes,Got some fun test rides coming up, hopefully V4 on sat if weather is ok then the 1260 Multi, roll on nice weather 😜

Cheers Scott, you will love the 821 as it’s a great oackage, shame all your dealers are so far away! Riding V4 tomorrow if it’s dry! Cheers, GMAN 🍺

Thanks for the prompt reply! Will give it a try!
Have you by chance ever ridden the BMW F 800 R ? How would you compare the the two of them ?
Cheers
Hi mate, did ride the F800 about 3yrs ago but not the newer model so can really compare it to the Monster. Sorry buddy 🙄
Hi great review. I had been looking at the 821 as a first big bike. I am 42 6'2" and weigh 16st. So after your remarks I am now wondering if its too small. I'm a big guy too id get the 1200s or 1200r because they have fully adjustable suspension. You can have the bike setup for your weight
Thinking the S & R models are worth a go as they can be setup to your weight etc 👍
Had a demo on the 797 and thinking of buying one as my first big bike. It annoys me that Ducati has not put a gear shift indicator and fuel gauge on the bike, though the 821 has them. I thinks that’s poor.

Yea, as you said I will give them some test rides before deciding :D just have to wait some weeks still a bit winter here..
Great video 👍. Do you think the 821 would be too powerful for a first bike ? Do the other riding modes reduce the available power ?

Ah I see buddy, well then the 821 would be perfect 👍
Size difference is very minor
821 is now the same body as the 1200? Except the single swing-arm of course.
Yes buddy that’s correct 👍
G-MAN'S Bikes & Bits
Wow that is awesome😄
Would you consider going back to the 1200s in the future?
JZHoolin , did love the Monster 1200S but if I get another Ducati it will have the V4 engine, aka V4 Streetfighter 😜
G-MAN'S Bikes & Bits
Thanks for the info and quick replies. Jeez you up early too😄
It does have a slipper clutch. Good review though
Cheers buddy, was guessing the spec as didn’t have much time to find out about the bike before I rode it, I thought it didn’t have a slipper clutch as it doesn’t have a clutch fluid resivour 😜
I'm about 6'1 and it's sorta heart breaking thinking I might be to tall for it. But I sure will do a test ride
Jacob buddy, I think you will be ok, my other mate rode it and he was fine and 6’3 👍
No worry's. Iam 6foot 2 and the bike suits me perfectly. It will fit you just fine!
Thanks y'all I'll definly keep it in mind !!!

M821 of thailand biker
Bonkers
How about fuel consumtion?...
Hi mate, if I remember correct it was around 45mpg 👍
G-MAN'S Bikes & Bits I mean 1 liter of gasoline can travel a distance of how many miles?
Sorry mate dont know that, 🙄
@@glpromozar2986 who cares, get a fiat 500 instead, plastic biker.
Told you to get lost you muppet 🤣
This does have a slipper clutch......
Wasn’t sure buddy, good news it does have one I guess 👍
