I am so sorry for you guys, but coming from someone that recently cut out a toxic parent - do not let them bring you down. Do not let them stop you from having the wedding you want a deserve. Do not let them stop you from being happy and living life to your fullest. Sure "family is family", but toxic is toxic. Cut them out of your lives until they can or if they can grow up and be there for you and they can watch from a far. It’s not going to matter at the end of the day once your married and living your lives together. I always wanted a big wedding but had family issues as well, including growing up with someone raising me who wasn’t my parents. So I the end I couldn’t afford a big wedding, nor have the people there I wanted. So me and my husband got married on the beach with 10 of our close family members. It was so stress free and beautiful, and it was a day I will remember forever! You guys are an amazing couple and are so strong! You will get through this 😊

This has to be hard, but as long as y’all have each other and stay strong you’ll get through it! ❤️ when my husband and I got married in 2020 we had to cancel our wedding 2 times due to factors out of our control.. and finally got to have it our 3rd time changing literally everything. We told people who couldn’t support us or felt they needed to be a certain way toward anyone that they weren’t welcome. And it worked out, all who could respect our wishes showed up, the one person that didn’t was asked to leave. :) It wasn’t the date or exactly how we wanted things to be, but it all worked out and we are happily married regardless. Prayers to y’all and just know, you’re not alone. 🙏🏻 There are people who understand exactly what you’re going through. Y’all are a VERY strong couple and nothing will stop y’all from getting married and having the amazing life you strive for! Watching y’all brings a smile to my face for sure

They put us through a lot of trauma but we decided to have an elopement wedding, just us two. And it was amazing. I get anxiety about getting married for this reason. My immediate “family” has caused me irreparable grief from missing my graduation, kicking me out after my mom died, to not calling me for my birthday throughout the years. I wouldn’t want them at any further special event, such as a wedding. Still, it’s sad and embarrassing that my future spouse’s family could judge me for my decision. But, it is my decision and it feels like the right one. Live on your terms.
